It’s DECEMBER ALREADY!!! *flails*

So things are crazy this time of year – all that buying for other people and spreading joy crap. Maybe you don’t have the money to spare to treat yourself instead.

I think maybe you should do something nice for yourself. Let’s make it all about you! and maybe enter a few booki-ish giveaways.

I’ve been doing these monthly pick your book giveaways for years (less consistently lately) but decided to join in the Of Books Giveaway monthly hop hosted by It Starts at Midnight and FLYLēF.

You can enter my giveaway here and then visit all the links below for more chances to win!

Winner will receive any one book - released in December, up to $15 value.

This giveaway ends on January 1, 2019 at 12:00am EST.

Need a little inspiration? Check out these lists!

International entries OK as long as The Book Depository ships to your country.

To enter – fill out the Rafflecopter form and leave a comment!

I’m going to suggest a few silly holiday themed prompts for your comment – but if you’re not feeling adventurous just leave the December book release you’re most looking forward to.

  1. Would you rather experience a Christmas in 1700 or in 2100?
  2. Would you rather only be able to watch your favorite TV show during the holidays or have to watch it every day of the year?
  3. Would you rather spend the holidays with your group of friends or have them each be replaced by your favorite celebrity?
  4. Would you rather get a useful gift or a fun gift?
  5. Would you rather get one amazing holiday gift or 10 OK holiday gifts?

*I’m making this one super easy to enter so no extra entries other than a tweet but I'd love to connect with you!

My SM links are in the sidebar - Twitter is where I like to chat, Instagram is where I mostly post pics of food, my dog – Fonzi  and a grumpy, clingy cat named Figment and, of course, books, Goodreads if you want to know what I’m reading and Bloglovin to get all my latest posts!

Good luck!

  1. I'm looking forward to Strange Days by Constantine J. Singer

  2. I'd rather Christmas in 2100. Maybe a bad choice since the world might be an apocalypse by then lol, but the 1700s, though it seems all romantic, would have no heat/AC or plumbing or anything and honestly I don't wanna spend a day w/o that lol.

  3. Question: "Would you rather spend the holidays with your group of friends or have them each be replaced by your favorite celebrity?"
OK, if I HAD a group of friends...I suppose I'd choose them. Unless David Tennant were available LOL. The fact is...most of the times, celebrities up close don't match the idea of them you've conjured up. I wouldn't want to get disappointed on Christmas LOL.

Thank you Santa! 🤶 😆 And happy holidays in advance!

    1. Good point! I'm the same - as in I don't have a group of friends and to be honest I don't like groups of people - celebrity or friend lol

  6. As much as I'd like to enter, sadly there are no December releases that I'm waiting for! They either came out already or in January!

    1. Well, you'll have to come back next month because I plan on linking up for that one as well!

  7. I actually always buy something nice for myself. This year I want to buy a new tv and blu ray player for myself. But every year my family and I do a christmas for a family in need. When I was younger we financially struggled due to lots of medical bills, and there were some years that people helped us with Christmas. So we try to give back. But I do think its important to do something good for yourself too. There are many December releases I have loved that I didn't get ARC for.

    1. That's wonderful.

We used to give baby supplies and things like fancy soaps and make up to the women's shelter here but they've made it difficult to contact and deal with them so I need to pick something new for this year.

  8. 4. Would you rather get a useful gift or a fun gift?
    Useful please!

  9. I love these questions!
    1. I think I'd like to experience a 1700 Christmas, though I'm probably romanticizing it in my head, haha.
    2. Hm. I think I'd rather save it for during the holidays.
    3. I live far away from my family and friends, so I'd rather celebrate with them than with celebrities!
    4. Wow, I'm old. I think I'd rather get a useful gift that I can't afford to get myself. xD
    5. One amazing gift!
    Thanks for the giveaway. :)

  10. Oh fun prompts!!! I rather have a fun gift for sure and one really good one.

  11. Would you rather experience a Christmas in 1700 or in 2100?
1700! I am thinking quiet, interesting food, maybe sing a few songs, ok this sounds dreadful, maybe I should have picked the future

Would you rather only be able to watch your favorite TV show during the holidays or have to watch it every day of the year?
Hey, I can watch it every day!

Would you rather spend the holidays with your group of friends or have them each be replaced by your favorite celebrity?
Oh oh sorry friends, bye bye! Celeb please!

Would you rather get a useful gift or a fun gift?
Ugh I am old, yes useful sounds good *grumbles*

Would you rather get one amazing holiday gift or 10 OK holiday gifts?
I love gifts! How amazing is amazing? it all depends on that

  12. I think I'd rather watch my fave TV show (Friends) every day for sure. I love that show :)
Thank you for the giveaway :)

  13. I think I would rather watch my favorite TV show only during the holidays instead of every day of the year. I would hope I wouldn't get sick of it if I had to do the latter, but having it to look forward to every year during the holidays would be super awesome! Now, what my favorite TV show is, I don't know... there are too many!

    Thanks!

  14. That useful gift vs fun gift called out to me. I tend to buy myself things that I need, but I am cheap, and won't buy fun stuff. Therefore, I would love for people to get me the fun stuff, otherwise I will never have it.

    ReplyDelete
  15. Okay 1700 sounds pretty rustic haha but as long as I could come back to modern times at the end of the day- I'd try it! Just to see... :)

    ReplyDelete
  16. Would you rather get one amazing holiday gift or 10 OK holiday gifts?
I'd rather have one AMAZING gift ^_^

  17. "Would you rather spend the holidays with your group of friends or have them each be replaced by your favorite celebrity?" If I could spend each holiday with a different favorite celebrity, I say ditch the friends! The celebrity is bound to be a disappointment, but each holiday you get to meet a different idol and have your fantasies crushed! That's so much more fun and interesting than spending time with people you care about!

    ReplyDelete
  18. I would rather get a fun gift
not sure what books are currently being released

    ReplyDelete
  19. Oh I just added a book to my wish list that releases this month, it's The Darkest Captive: A Lords of the Underworld Novella. That's what I would get.

    ReplyDelete
  20. I'd rather spend the holidays with a group of friends rather than favorite celebrities.

    ReplyDelete
  21. "Would you rather get one amazing holiday gift or 10 OK holiday gifts?" I would definitely prefer the one amazing gift. I already have plenty of useless stuff; quality over quantity!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Christmas in 1700, with Beethoven or Mozart as neighbors, hah!

    ReplyDelete
  23. I would most definitely love a fun gift!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I would want to experience Christmas during 2100 because I can read about life in 1700s but not the future. Plus I would probably just hear what a harlot I am for wearing flannel pjs.

  25. I'm going to answer all the prompts, they're all cool!

Would you rather experience a Christmas in 1700 or in 2100? 2100, because in the 1700 it'd be bad for sure, but in 2100 there's a chance it wouldn't. I'm trying to be optimistic here!

Would you rather only be able to watch your favorite TV show during the holidays or have to watch it every day of the year? I'd watch it every single day, no problem. I'm actually one of those who enjoy things more the 2nd time arond and re-watches/re-reads constantly, so... :)

Would you rather spend the holidays with your group of friends or have them each be replaced by your favorite celebrity? Group of friends, ...what's that? And I think I'd rather not meet the people I admire, so I'll go with option 3 and spend the holidays with my one friend!

Would you rather get a useful gift or a fun gift? Useful!!

Would you rather get one amazing holiday gift or 10 OK holiday gifts? if it's a truly amazing one (a puppy, a kitten, something that I really needed) I'd take that. Otherwise, I'd probably take the 10 ok gifts (for example in a case where it's a special collectors edition of one book vs 10 paperbacks).

  26. Would you rather get one amazing holiday gift or 10 OK holiday gifts?
I'd rather have 1 amazing gift because I can always buy myself ok ones :)

  27. I'd always choose Christmas with friends (or actually, family) than with a celebrity. I guess there was a time when I followed celebrities and maybe even looked up to some, but age brings the knowledge that family (biological or otherwise) is everything.

    ReplyDelete
  28. I would definitely rather spend the holidays with a group of friends, especially since most of my close friends all live in different locations. That would be a dream to get together for the holidays! I'm also really looking forward to reading ALL the romance books and watching Hallmark Christmas movies!

    ReplyDelete
  29. Definitely not want to be in the 1700s. I need my creature comforts plus I think all they did for Christmas was go to mass in a cold, stone church and didn't do much in the way of celebrating. So, the future it is. :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. Would rather watch it only during the holidays than everyday of the year LOL

  31. Would you rather get one amazing holiday gift or 10 OK holiday gifts?
I'd definitely rather get one really good one. I have enough stuff sitting around!

  35. Thanks so much for the giveaway! I'm going to have to say I would rather a fun gift because I think that books are more fun than useful even though they are VERY USEFUL TOO. I just need the answer that gets me books haha :P

One amazing gift; those are the ones you remember, the ones a person has really thought about.

  38. Let's see...
    1. I think a 1700 Christmas. I'd rather a little old fashioned that too modern.
    2. I would be ok having to watch my favorite TV show every day.
    3. For one year, I would be ok having each of my friends replaced by a favorite celebrity.
    4. Definitely a fun gift
    5. I would much rather one amazing gift than 10 ok gifts. But any gift is truly wonderful.
And as for the book... no question, Of Blood and Bone by Nora Roberts!

    ReplyDelete
  39. I would want to watch my favorite show on the holidays. I'd also like to experience Christmas in 1700.

    ReplyDelete
  40. This is SO FUN. I answered most of these on your Monday post, but now we need to talk more about this 1700s Christmas versus 2100. I mean, at the very least, we'll either be technologically advanced in 2100 (think, we have electricity and plumbing, wooo!) OR it will be the straight up apocalypse and YAY look at us in our own novel world! Either way I think Christmas 2100 is a win! (And thanks so much for the chance!)

    ReplyDelete
  41. I am looking forward to Verity. Thank you

    ReplyDelete
  42. I would rather experience a Christmas in 2100. I'm very curious about the future.

    ReplyDelete
  43. I have to say I would rather get one useful gift! Growing older, I always seem to ask for something I need rather than want.

    ReplyDelete
  44. Would you rather experience a Christmas in 1700 or in 2100? I'd definitely want to be in the future. The 1700's are just not for me.

Would you rather only be able to watch your favorite TV show during the holidays or have to watch it every day of the year? Maybe only during the holidays. I think I'd be bored with it if that was the only thing I could watch every day.

Would you rather spend the holidays with your group of friends or have them each be replaced by your favorite celebrity? A group of friends. I'm so uncomfortable and awkward around people I don't know. I'd be way too stressed out being surrounded my strangers.

Would you rather get a useful gift or a fun gift? Useful! Fun gifts are fun and all, but they end up just collecting dust.

Would you rather get one amazing holiday gift or 10 OK holiday gifts? One amazing holiday gift!

    1. And I'm right there with you. I can't believe it's December already! I have been rushing to get last minute gifts so that I could mail them out. I thought I was ahead of the game this year. However, when I went to the post office and they told me that mail is backed up by a couple days... I realized I wasn't as on top of things as I thought I was. That, or everyone had the same idea as me! LoL

  45. Bookish holiday giveaways are always awesome. Thank you! And totally Christmas in 1700. It would be so fascinating. Though I wouldn't want to stay too long. Maybe just the 12 days of Christmas then back to my creature comforts. lol

    Happy nearly almost Christmas!

  58. I'd love to try Christmas in 1700, it would be an interesting challenge, and just to have such a classically old fashioned holiday, wouldn't want to do it all the time, but for one day I'd like to give it a try.
