Review: Her Secret, His Surprise by Paula Altenburg

22571366***This is a Red-Hot Bliss Title! As such, it contains sexual content***

Conflict of interest is an understatement…

Since being disowned by her strict father, Cass Stone has spent her adulthood trying to prove him wrong. Her drive has led to more success than her family ever thought she’d achieve, and life is looking great. Not even an incredible and mysterious one night stand that leaves her a single mom can trip her up...until the father of her baby stumbles back into her life, as sexy and unreliable as ever.

Logan Alexander hasn’t forgotten the night he spent with Cass two years ago, but he never expects to end up undercover as her assistant. His job saves lives—like it should have saved his brother—and he can’t afford complications. It’s difficult enough to maintain his cover as a carefree wanderer when he realizes his attraction to Cass hasn’t faded...and then he meets Cass’s daughter.

Review:
Her Secret, His Surprise was a really sweet story with two very likable characters - even though they are both keeping BIG secrets.

I loved how Logan and Cass take the high ground with each other, even though they have plenty to be angry about. Instead of lashing out, they try to see each others point of view. It made their rocky relationship very believable and easy to root for. Olivia, Cass and Logan’s little girl, was all kinds of adorable, as was Logan's reaction to her.

The mystery/undercover aspect fell a little flat for me. I was like…that's it? - so I kind of wish this just stuck with the secret baby plot but overall it was a cute read.

You can't go wrong with an Entangled Bliss title if you're looking for a quick, sweet romance for summer beach reading. Because it’s a Red Hot Bliss title, there’s a little extra heat in the sexy department!

  2. Entangled is pretty darned good at providing quick, easy-to-read romances! This sounds sweet but too bad about the mystery.

    1. Even when they aren't great - they're still fun to read. It's my go to publishing line when I need a but of sweetness and fluff,

  3. A little extra heat is always welcome, but I'm not sold on the secrets aspect of this story. Please tell me that Logan and Cass aren't doing it to 'protect' each other cuz I seriously hate that in romance.

    1. I guess, sort of - but not in the over the top angsty way. That part was fine. It was Logan's case that kind of fell flat for me. It was resolved and I was like…oh ok. Well that was anti-climactic lol

  4. I haven't read a Red Hot Bliss book yet. I like that the characters were mature and communicated!

    1. It was kind of weird not having the bedroom door shut on me like in the regular Bliss books. lol

It's not overly explicit though either.

  5. Huh...this one sounds a bit flat for my taste...like the plot was just thrown in to try to balance out the romance.

  7. So true, Entangled has some of the best feel good romances AND it's also short reads, usually under 300p so win-win for someone with ADD like me!

  9. I can't help it- I love romance books with Secret Babies from One Night Stands. There's probably a support group for this, which probably includes help for those who also love Falling In Love With Older Brother's Best Friend, Marriage of Convenience Turning to True Love, Best Friends Realizing They Are Meant To Be, and others. But, truth be told, the only reason I'd go to the meetings would be to find more book recommendations. ;) I'm going to track this book down now! Thanks!

    1. Have you read Rachel Harris's adult books? She writes a lot of those tropes really well.

I never understood the older brother best friend thing. Just date her lol

My favorite is the friends to lovers.
