Now Showing...Boss Baby 2, Luca, Wish Dragon

First of all, I'm having a ridiculously good time making sheltie graphics lol I apologize in advance if you're like...Karen! enough with the sheltie stuff 😂 (there are a few Figgy graphics too so don't worry, I'm not neglecting my curmudgeon kitty.) I may need an intervention and have someone take away my sheltie clip art.

Anyhoo....

This is what we watched over the 4th long weekend. We're in the middle of a few series (Loki & Black Summer) but I guess we got sidetracked and went on a bit of a animation bender.

Boss Baby 2 - streaming free on Peacock : Cute enough with a few good laughs and lessons learned but not as good as the first. Also had some fairly adult humor in the beginning. I'm not sure a second movie was necessary or added much but not bad for a freebie.

Luca - Disney+ : For some reason I thought they were going to charge extra to watch Luca on Disney since it was new but it's included with the regular subscription. I wasn't at all interested in this when I first started seeing the previews but it's a REALLY sweet film.

Luca and his new best friend Alberto spend the summer living above the sea with humans, trying not to get wet and reveal their true identity as sea monsters.

This movie is filled with adventure, humor and heart. And you must watch to the very end - all the credits because it serves as an epilogue and it's the cutest thing ever and I would like every movie to do this from now on please.

Wish Dragon - Netflix : So sweet!! Din & Li Na are the bestest of friends as children until her father moves them away and they don't see each other again for years. Din pines over her (platonically) and gets his chance to be the man her father would approve of when he's handed a magic tea pot with a wish dragon inside.

This movie isn't breaking any new ground but it was just adorable and funny with a great ending.

    1. I'm not sure it's good for little kids. The dragon is fun but the story is more for older kids/adults.

  3. Black Summer is so whacked out! I think Luca looks cute though.

Oh, and to answer your question on my blog. YES you should watch PAnic!!! I liked it a lot. And Black Spot but that's quirkier- but honestly I LOVE it.

    1. I think we might finish Black Summer this weekend. I might try Panic on my own. Not sure that's a Kevin show lol Or maybe for my weekly friend texting date show. Seems like it might be discussion worthy.

  4. I typically only turn on the TV to watch hockey but I have seen the ads for Luca during the intermission breaks. :) Nice that it wasn't at an extra charge!

  5. My kids have watched Luca and Wish Dragon! They enjoyed both but I don't think they'll be repeat watches. Jacob and I have been watching Loki and Making It!! Have you seen Making It? I think it's something you and Kevin would like.

  7. I didn't even know Luca was a film. I saw someone put a male figuring/toy in a starbucks cup with blue liquid in it on TikTok and I honestly didn't get it. I found it a bit disturbing that people would find drowning people in their drinks a funny thing. NOW I get it. Ha! Sounds like it would be a cute movie. I will have to check it out.

    1. That's so funny! Yeah... they look human unless they get wet, then they turn into sea monsters. And the town they are staying in hunts sea monsters.

  8. I love the graphics. They are cute. I don't usually watch animated films unless I'm watching them with my grandson.

    1. Thank you!

We don't have any kids so I'm not sure what my excuse for watching them is but we do enjoy them all.

  9. I have to admit I know next to nothing about any of these, but have seen trailers of Luca! I also had no interest from those, but maybe I should give it a shot because it sounds like it is cute. And the characters in wish dragon sound sweet. :)

    1. I'm so random with what we watch lol We're lazy, so it's a matter of not wanting to search anymore and sure... let's try that. Luckily, we enjoyed all of these.

  10. Matt and I were watching a YouTube compilation of animated film trailers (don't ask) and worked really hard to piece together what Boss Baby is about lol. We'll probably watch the first one.

The Wish Dragon also looks pretty cute, very Aladdin.

    1. I liked the first Boss Baby better. There really wasn't a reason for #2 but eh... it passed time lol
Yes, Wish Dragon wasn't anything new but still cute.

  12. I love the shelties! And the new header. Very nice.

Luca is one that I have had no interest in but everyone keeps talking about how lovely it is... I think I may have to give it a go! (Especially when it's part of the standard subscription.)

  13. First- your new graphics are ADORABLE!! Love them. Second - movies. We have also been watching several animated films of late. Since we hadn't seen the first Boss Baby, we watched it before the new one (agree with your assessment!). We also watched Luca - I also thought it was one of the +$30. It was cute. We finally watched Raya and the Last Dragon now that it's not $30. We rewatched the Kung Fu Panda movies. We wanted to rewatch the Hotel Transylvania movies, but we don't have the channel they are on. Oh and we rewatched the first Toy Story and I know there have been more, but I can't recall right now.

    1. We watched Raya I think a month or so ago (once it wasn't $30 because ...no lol) and I still need to watch the latest Toy Story.
