The #STAYATHOME Diaries Tag

I decided to come up with a random, fun post for this weeks #STAYATHOME Diaries. Feel free to answer in the comments or post it on your blog & leave a link so I can check it out!

LAST THING I GOOGLED: Blog headers. Recipes for ground beef. When I’m frustrated and bored I search random things that distract me from anything I SHOULD be doing. Thereby wasting the entire day and me going – OH! Look what time it is! Is the day over already? lol

LAST BOOK I READ: Burn Zone by Annabeth Albert. It wasn’t my favorite of hers but it was good enough to read in one sitting – the first time I’ve done that in MONTHS!

LAST MOVIE I WATCHED: Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle. I LOVE this movie!! It cracks me up every time.

LAST THING YOU DID BEFORE SOCIALLY ISOLATING: I can’t even remember. I’m sure it was going to Vancouver and food shopping or out to eat. Fonzi was sick then and my days pretty much consisted of vet visits and errands so I wasn't able to get out much anyway.

WHAT IS YOUR QUARANTINE PERSONALITY? COUCH POTATO OR OVER ACHIEVER: Couch potato all the way!!! I bought a sewing machine, sidewalk chalk, puzzles and a few other things to do during *all my free time*. I also planned on taking an online photography course but thus far – have accomplished very little with any of it.

AVERAGE NUMBER OF HOURS I SLEEP AT NIGHT: This depends. I’m either up every two hours or sleep a solid 8. I’m all over the place lately. And having SO many weird dreams.

LAST THING I ORDERED ONLINE: Eeep! I’ve gone a little crazy with this. I thought I would save a ton of money being stuck home but I’ve actually spent more lol I was so afraid of never being able to get anything that I tried to prepare. Not toilet paper hoarding kind of shopping but thing things like puzzles, a sewing machine, fabric, plants. I’ve cut myself off. But my last thing was very practical – food for Figgy.

FIRST THING YOU’LL DO WHEN THIS IS OVER: Go tot he farmers market and out to eat at all my favorite small restaurants. I’m so worried about them and how they’ll make it through this.

IF YOU COULD CHOOSE – WHO WOULD BE YOUR IDEAL QUARANTINE COMPANION? If I ever have to go through this again, I really need to get myself a baker to quarantine with. Who are all these people whipping up perfect sourdough loaves for the first time in their lives??? I need them in my house!

WHAT ARE YOU MOST GRATEFUL FOR? I’m most grateful for where I live. It took me forever to appreciate the move from FL but this did it. First off – being in a state where the politicians and people take it seriously - but also I live in a fairly sparsely populated area so shopping for groceries has been easy. We don’t have delivery or pick up but that means no lines or crowds and most products are in stock.

We also have beautiful parks and trails where we can walk and still be very far away from people.
And finally, my house has huge windows that let the sun in and I don’t have that trapped feeling that so many other people do.

If you need a good laugh here's a link to hilarious stay at home memes.

  1. I find the more time I have, the more I waste. I looked up at one point today, and it was the middle of the day. You may have bought some stuff, but at least it's stuff you are using, not just odd impulse buys.

    1. I'm not really using any of it though :-(( I tried the sewing machine and have things for projects but it's been 2 weeks now lol Haven't cracked open the puzzles. Oh well...I think we have to go easy on ourselves. It's strange times.

    2. I'm sure you'll use it at some point even if that time isn't now. Same with the puzzles. They don't have an expiration date so as far as "impulse" purchases go, they're good ones.

    3. You know as soon as this is over and I can go out I;ll want to stay home and sew or something and not have time lol

  2. My mind has definitely started to wander into the stranger things. I watched an entire video about trimming and shoes horses hooves lol.

  3. Nice tag! I'm definitely up for participating. 🙂

I don't get the fascination with sour dough so I've never tried to make it... Today it was cinnamon rolls and pretzels. I'm making these two a lot at the moment as I bought a 16kg bag of strong flour at Costco since the supermarket had none! 🙈 I'm gonna run out of yeast soon though and that just won't do. 😱

    1. I love sourdough but I can't bake. I can do simple things like cookies but even that is a mess when I do it lol

See! I need someone who will bake cinnamon rolls to be stuck with!!! *cries*

  4. I'm the same way, I miss all my favorite restaurants lol. Panera where are you?? And I think I'm in couch potato mode too half the time. You'd think I'd be all organized on the blog, for example, with the extra free time but no, I finish a post about 5 mins before I post it. Oh well...

My sleep schedule is seriously out of whack too. I stay up way too late and I kinda feel guilty about but apparently not enough to stop doing it lol. But I think it's helping me deal with being at home all the time? IDK... :)

    That pizza GIF is awesome.

    1. Does your Panera do take out? Ours does but I haven't been yet since all this.

    2. I don't know! I'll have to find out. :) I did discover a new pizza/ subs place though and now I want to eat there all the time so they don't go out of business. :):)

    3. Our Panera also sells basic groceries like milk, yogurt etc. I might try it this Sunday.

We're doing the same. We have a lady who makes the most amazing donuts & Kevin used to get breakfast from her twice a month for his safety meetings at work but now he's home. So we go and buy a dozen donuts every week but it seems everyone else is worried about her too because she's selling out every day lol

I try to get take out at least once a week but we don't have too many places around here, in general, and a lot of them closed for now.

  5. God, I don't even know what the last thing I googled was. A lot of it would be cooking related since I'm trying to cook more during all of this. That's great, but when a recipe asks for a clove of garlic I don't know what that is. Then it asks you to crush said clove and I'm like what does that look like? Basically, my cooking adventures are severely hindered by my utter lack of cooking knowledge. And I enjoyed Jumanji, even though I had my reservations, it's just a really fun film.

    1. I was reading a substitution thing the other day and it was like...if you don't have egg use ground flax seed or aquafaba. Dude - if I don't have ab egg I won't have aquafaba or ground flax seed lol

Youtube is your friend for technique though!!!

  6. LAST THING I GOOGLED:...I've already forgotten.

LAST BOOK I READ: A Song Below Water by B.C. Morrow (review on May 13th), and I'm rereading 17 & Gone by N.R. Suma now.

LAST MOVIE I WATCHED: uuuuuh, no movies for me - I watched a Chicago Fire episode.

LAST THING YOU DID BEFORE SOCIALLY ISOLATING: I was at work when we got officially quarantined. And my life hasn't changed much since then, if you don't count going to work 2 days out of 5 (which is still a recent development) and not going to the hairdresser 😭.

WHAT IS YOUR QUARANTINE PERSONALITY? COUCH POTATO OR OVER ACHIEVER: I'm using my off-work time to do some serious spring cleaning...👀

AVERAGE NUMBER OF HOURS I SLEEP AT NIGHT: around 9 if I can...my usual...

LAST THING I ORDERED ONLINE: nothing.

FIRST THING YOU’LL DO WHEN THIS IS OVER: Get my hair done!

IF YOU COULD CHOOSE – WHO WOULD BE YOUR IDEAL QUARANTINE COMPANION? Someone who would clean the house with me LOL.

WHAT ARE YOU MOST GRATEFUL FOR? That me and my family have not fallen sick, and I hope it continues this way...

I'm really glad that you life in a safe state now.

    1. I totally forgot about my hair. That's definitely top of my list too. I'm getting pretty grey and my hair gets SO heavy. It's driving me nuts.

  7. I'm WFH so I guess I'm somewhat productive there but otherwise... total coach potato. I'm getting *nothing* accomplished. I'd like to rush right out and eat in restaurants whenever this is over, but the truth I am very hesitant to "return to normal." I feel like I'm going to be very slow to ease back into things in public.

    1. That's Kevin. He's still working everyday but then nothing lol

I feel that way too. I'm afraid to go back out when....people...are there lol I tend to eat at small local restaurants but I don't know how they're going to do it. To maintain distance they could only have a few customers at a time.

  8. This is so fun - I will have to try and do this as a blog post soon. I'm a mix of productive and coach potato. LOL There are definitely more that I COULD be doing, but I just don't have the motivation for some things. Glad you enjoyed Burn Zone overall - I have that to read next! It sounds like you live in a great area for social distancing for sure!!

Let me know what you think of Burn Zone. I have to write my review today.

  9. Oh I like this idea. I don't have many reviews scheduled right now and with everything going on I want to keep things fun. I'm definitely going to do this.

  11. Last thing I did before social d...library!

Ha, I like these. I googled umbrella academy last

  12. I love all of your answers to these. I love the farmer markets and have been supporting small businesses as much as I can because they are the ones that will pay the highest price for the shut down. I have been lucky that I live in states too that have taken politics and bettering the lives of the American People more seriously.

    1. I really worry about the small businesses. And they don't seem to be the ones getting help with the bailouts either.

  13. I enjoyed the original Jumanji but I haven't seen the two new ones yet, despite my dad buying them. I also bought 3D puzzles for lockdown but haven't got around to making them yet. Still, I have plenty of time for that. I've been buying a ton of stuff online- mostly food but a few things for entertainment. My scrapbooks are two days overdue though. I've just posted my answers to your questions-it was fun!

    1. I loved the new Jumani but it's quite different from the original.

I guess that's why I haven't done my puzzles yet. I feel like I need to pace myself lol

That's great! I'm going to go check out your answers.

  15. Hmmm... Well, we last watched Diehard or the third Divergent movie, I forget. But my hubs still hasn't seen the newest Jumanji, so we may watch that tonight. I last googled actors in the show Chuck - we always like to look at who the "guest actors" are and figure out how we know them. I am most grateful for my family, our home and our health. Hope you continue to stay healthy!

  17. I think we all had grand plans of getting a million things done during quarantine, but it's definitely been hard to focus. I've been better over the past couple of weeks, but at first I was a useless mess!!

  18. This is fun! I have been a little of both getting things done and getting nothing done. Really, these kids are just as much work as a full-time job anyway so there isn't much difference, except I don't have to wear pants. Which, don't get me wrong, I am GLAD to not have to wear real pants. I do get to stay up a bit later which is also good, for I am a night person. I am really glad to get to spend time with the kids (I mean- usually, of course there are moments when I am pulling my hair out, but on the whole) and I am actually kind of panicky for when we have to spend days apart again. It is really crazy how much it matters where you live these days. I do NOT envy rational folks in places like Georgia and such, my goodness.

    1. Oh I know. The depending what state you live in thing is scary. Like...could we have ONE national plan forward that we maybe tweak as needed.

I'm ALL about the no pants no bra life these days lol

  19. Oh god, the online shopping! I've been doing everything online, from groceries to toiletries to everything I don't actually need and it's costing a fortune! Last week I received everything from socks, groceries, blu rays, a new games console, shoes, a new quilt to go with my other new quilt. It's all incredibly frivolous and the parcels arriving is bringing me and incredible amount of joy but I think I need help. I'm trying to limit my online time and read more so I'm not spending. I'm quite liking the isolation now, especially with winter coming and it's already cold here.

  20. Good to hear your homesickness is all but gone. You DO live in such a beautiful area! I always enjoy your photos. When my son is out of college, and I can afford to do a bit of traveling, I need to visit the Northwest. 🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲,

I am going to do this on my blog later today. 👍✨
