Review: Act Like It by Lucy Parker

Act Like ItThis just in: romance takes center stage as West End theatre's Richard Troy steps out with none other than castmate Elaine Graham
Richard Troy used to be the hottest actor in London, but the only thing firing up lately is his temper. We all love to love a bad boy, but Richard's antics have made him Enemy Number One, breaking the hearts of fans across the city.

Have the tides turned? Has English rose Lainie Graham made him into a new man?

Sources say the mismatched pair has been spotted at multiple events, arm in arm and hip to hip. From fits of jealousy to longing looks and heated whispers, onlookers are stunned by this blooming romance.

Could the rumors be right? Could this unlikely romance be the real thing? Or are these gifted stage actors playing us all? ~

Review:A refreshingly fun and witty romance! Something I wish we saw more of in the genre.

The banter was fantastic and I have to go back to that word refreshing - because while Laine and Richard's relationship starts off as a ruse to improve Richard's bad press - once they start falling for each other there's no pretense. They're just two mature adults who are so well matched whether verbally sparring or lending support for each others ambitions.

While, they're attracted to each other, theirs is a relationship of matching wits and respect - not constant drooling over each other. I know these two would love each other no matter what they looked like. Another rarity in the genre.

Act Like It does have a rom-com feel and as such has the obligatory over the top dramatic ending that I felt was unnecessary but otherwise I really adored this one.

It's a quick read too - 13 chapters (199 pages), and as of this writing only .99, so go snap this one up if you're looking for something that will leave a smile on your face.

  5. Okay, you had me at "banter." 199 pages does seem a little short, but hey, lately I look at these 500 page door stoppers and I just can't pick them up...
