A Month of Treats! Interview with author Sarah Beth Durst & a giveaway

It's week two of a Month of Treats, co-hosted with my friend Julie from My 5 Monkey's!

It's VAMPIRE WEEK! Julie had part one of our interview with Drink, Slay, Love author Sarah Beth Durst. Today I have part two and a vampire themed giveaway! I am dying to read this one. Vampires and heart stabbing, sparkly unicorns!! WIN!

Pearl is a sixteen-year-old vampire, fond of blood, allergic to sunlight, and mostly evil... until the night a sparkly unicorn stabs her through the heart with his horn. Oops.
Her family thinks she was attacked by a vampire hunter (because, obviously, unicorns don't exist). They're shocked she survived. They're even more shocked when Pearl discovers she can now withstand the sun. But they quickly find a way to make use of her new talent. The Vampire King of New England has chosen Pearl's family to host his feast. If Pearl enrolls in high school, she can make lots of human friends and lure them to the king's feast -- as the entrees.
The only problem? Pearl's starting to feel the twinges of a conscience. How can she serve up her new friends -- especially the cute guy who makes her fangs ache -- to be slaughtered? Then again, she's definitely dead if she lets down her family. What's a sunlight-loving vamp to do?

Welcome to For What It's Worth Sarah!

Karen: What is your best, worst or funniest costume you've ever worn?
Sara: I used to agonize over what to be every year. Yet one year, I inexplicably ended up decorating a large box and going as a robot. This would have been fine, except that I tried to trick-or-treat with the big kids, followed them into the woods, and got wedged in between branches.

K: It's the end of the world. Who would you prefer to battle against? Witches, zombies, werewolves, vampires or ghosts?
S: Ghosts. Being noncorporeal, they would be unable to pick up weaponry and also be remarkably ineffectual at martial arts. I'd just put in ear plugs to block out the boo-ing.

K: What paranormal creature would you want on your side during the battle?
S: Witches, because they could exorcize the ghosts. Besides, vampires and werewolves would be far too likely to eat me if they felt peckish.

K: What is your favorite thing about Halloween and the fall season?
S: Cliched as it sounds, I love the leaves. I love the delicate mixture of colors on a single leaf, and I love to see hillsides painted in broad brush strokes of red, gold, and orange.

Karen: I live in FL now and fall is the one thing I miss the most.

K: Are you dressing up this year. Do you decorate and go all out for the holiday?
S: Some years, I wear wings. Some years, a tail. I think this year will be a wings year. I need more practice flying. :)

Thanks so much for interviewing me!

Karen: Thank you for joining Julie and I for our Month of Treats celebration! Great answers :-)

  7. Great interview! And YES, Witches! They would be the best battle companion. Definitely don't want to battle it out without witches, lol. :D

  8. Ha! I like Sara's method for dealing with ghost! Sounds very effective.

And I wouldn't mind having vampires on my side of the battle, even if they had to bite into my veins every once in a while.

  9. Hmm...I think I'd have a werewolf on my side. They're fierce. Or...you know...Sam and Dean Winchester >__> But they don't count....or do they? ;P

  10. I've heard wonderful things about this book, and I love Sara's comment about fall. Autumn is definitely my favorite season of the year. I love all of the oranges and reds and golds! Plus the weather is nice.

  11. I would want werewolfs :) I like them and they are strong...

    ReplyDelete
  12. I agree with fighting ghosts. I think they would definitely be the easiest to take on in a battle.

  13. If Sara hadn't made it so simple, this question would have confounded me! Witches are easily the most bearable, and I think I'd kind of like their dark humour and cackling. Yet no doubt some use blood magic or something like that... could turn out nasty for me. Having ghosts on your side though means loads of invulnerable spies, so I'm stuck!

  14. If it counts as a paranormal I wouldon as a sidekick.

    Thanks.

  23. Witches because they can use magic to do all sorts of damage!

    ReplyDelete
  24. I'm going to go with witches, tho this was a tuff one! Vampires can't help me during the day, and werewolves wouldn't be a help around the full moon. Ghosts can't do much, so that leaves me with the witches! Thanks, I've been meaning to read this book, it sounds really good and the interview was fun. Artesia at comcast dot net

Hope your book release is doing well!
