It's Zombie week!
What are your favorite zombie movies?
Here are a few of mine.....
Shaun of the Dead - Everyone really needs to see this movie. It's hysterically funny and the zombies are actually quite scary.
Fido - Timmy Robinson's best friend in the whole wide world is a six-foot tall rotting zombie named Fido. But when FIDO eats the next-door neighbor, Mom and Dad hit the roof, and Timmy has to go to the ends of the earth to keep Fido a part of the family. A boy-and-his-dog movie for grown ups, "FIDO" will rip your heart out.
I love this movie. Not as well known as other zombie movies but it's clever, funny and bittersweet.
28 Days Later - Technically not a zombie movie but I don't care, it's zombie-ish enough for me. This movie creeps me the F out. and I don't scare easily. And.....Cillian Murphy!!

I asked my blogger BFF Tiger from All-Consuming Books to write one of her popular sonnets for zombie week and she totally outdid herself with this one!
“Zombie Love is Necromantic” by Tiger Holland
A zombie boy has everything that you
could ever need. You know he won’t run out
to spend time with the guys because he’s too
wrapped up in chasing you after your shouts
caught his attention. Zombie boys are not
so focused on externals—yes, they care
about what’s deep inside, and if you’ve got
a need to spill your guts, they’re glad to share.
A zombie boy is not the type to rush
when he’s pursuing someone that he needs.
A zombie doesn’t worry if you gush
and fall to pieces near him. His love feeds
on such displays. A zombie’s love is long! Desire remains—
A zombie boy will steal your heart and still look for your brains.
Karen here! How awesome was that?? THANK YOU Tiger!
BONUS! Here's a video for "Eat you Up" by BOA
This K-Pop song inspired Tiger's sonnet after realizing that the singer sounds like a zombie, talking about eating a boy alive and how she might tear him to bits if he steps closer.

Julie over at My 5 Monkey's had part one of Living with the Dead series author Jesse Petersen. Today I have part two where I ask Jesse which supernatural creature she would want on her side in battle and more....
This is a really fun series - if you haven't read it yet be sure to check it out!
Eat Slay Love (Living with the Dead #3)
Sarah and David have survived the zombie apocalypse. They stood side by side and fought the undead, mad scientists, and even bionic monsters until the unthinkable happened. A zombie bite. But not even that could stop them. Now, with a possible cure in hand, they're headed east, looking for a safe zone behind the rumored "Wall." They're feeling pretty optimistic.
That is until Dave stops sleeping and starts lifting huge objects.
Eat. Slay. Love.
Because they haven't got a prayer.
Welcome to For What It's Worth Jesse!
Karen: What is your best, worst or funniest costume you've ever worn? (any embarrassing pictures to see?) Jesse: A couple of years ago I was a dark faerie. Had the black wig and the wings and everything. I liked the costume but every time I turned, I nearly broke stuff all over the party. I was dangerous. Looked for pictures, but couldn't find any. Last year I was a witch for a storytelling thing at the zoo where I volunteered.
Karen: It's the end of the world. Who would prefer to battle against? Witches, zombies, werewolves, vampires or ghosts? Jesse: Huh, well zombies just keep coming and never surrender, so no zombies. I don't want to be turned into a frog or something, so no wtiches. I'm sort of scared of strange dogs, so no werewolves. And how do you kill a ghost? So I guess vampires.
Karen: What paranormal creature would you want on your side during the battle? Jesse: If I could control zombies, I'd say zombies. They don't stop, remember, so they're the perfect soldier.
Karen: What is your favorite thing about Halloween and the fall season? Jesse: Since we moved, I'm looking forward to lovely weather and having it cool enough to go outside and hike and stuff.
Karen: Are you dressing up this year? Do you decorate and go all out for the holiday or do you turn off the lights to pretend you're not home?
This year we are dressing up! Our nephews live in the same town we now do and they're having a party we've been invited to. So Aunt Jesse needs to figure out a cute, not too scary, not too slutty costume. As for giving out candy, I have no idea how active our new neighborhood is, so I guess we'll find out!
Karen: Thanks Jesse for joining Julie and I for our Month of Treats celebration!
Jesse’s life as a writer began when her husband made the brilliant observation that she was much happier writing than doing anything else. So she took the plunge and decided to do that full-time. After many years and many books in different sub-genres, she was bitten by the zombie bug (not a zombie, but the bug) and took off on a zany adventure which culminates in the publication of the “Living With the Dead” series from Orbit.
Julie from My 5 Monkey's is kicking off the week with part one of our interview with Married with Zombies author Jesse Peterson. I'll have part 2 on For What It's Worth tomorrow!
For now check out the zombie awesomeness.....
How cool is that? Get your own I <3 zombie shirts, mugs, pins, notebooks, aprons over at Cafe Press
Favorite Zombie Game
Plants vs Zombies TOTALLY addicted to this game and you will be too once you start playing!
Favorite zombie books:
Breathers: A Zombie's Lament by S.G. Browne - sad zombies :-( Good book - totally different than the typical unfeeling zombie you usually read about.
Plague of the Dead (Morningstart Strain #1) by Z. A. Recht- My favorite zombie series. This a good one peeps! Great zombie gore with excellent writing, tackling the zombie crisis from all sides.
World War Z: An Oral History of the Zombie War by Max Brooks - This seems to be the book that kicked everything off. It has good zombie gore but I really enjoyed it more for the political angle. It was fascinating to see how the different governments reacted to the crisis.
Zombie Queen of Newbury High by Amanda Ashby - Afraid of zombies? Give this one a shot. Lots of fun and very quick read. The only downside is that there was never a sequel.
Every Friday My 5 Monkey's and I are having a GRAB BAG GIVEAWAY as part of the
Month of Treats festivities.
PRIZE
A bag of Halloween candy treats and a $5 Amazon Gift Card
It's vampire week! I listed my favorite vampire books here.
Now here are a few of my favorite vampires!
Drusilla & Spike - Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Oh how I miss kooky, creepy Dru
Louis & Claudia - Interview with a Vampire
I know Louie is a whiny vampire but he was my first tortured hero so what can I say? I still love him.
Claudia was sweet, cruel and sad and kind of horrifying to watch.
Eric Northman - Sookie Stackhouse series by Charlaine Harris
Personally I prefer book Eric to True Blood Eric but either way I wouldn't mind having Eric around.
Bones - Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost
I don't think I need to add anything here. If you know who Bones is you love him.
Shane McAllister - WVMP Radio series by Jeri Smith-Ready Shane's my favorite. He's fierce, sexy, protective and a musician plus he's a vampire you could take home to mom. He has slight OCD tendencies for alphabetizing but he can come organize my spices & CD's anytime.

It's week two of a Month of Treats, co-hosted with my friend Julie from My 5 Monkey's!
It's VAMPIRE WEEK! Julie had part one of our interview with Drink, Slay, Love author Sarah Beth Durst. Today I have part two and a vampire themed giveaway! I am dying to read this one. Vampires and heart stabbing, sparkly unicorns!! WIN!
Pearl is a sixteen-year-old vampire, fond of blood, allergic to sunlight, and mostly evil... until the night a sparkly unicorn stabs her through the heart with his horn. Oops.
Her family thinks she was attacked by a vampire hunter (because, obviously, unicorns don't exist). They're shocked she survived. They're even more shocked when Pearl discovers she can now withstand the sun. But they quickly find a way to make use of her new talent. The Vampire King of New England has chosen Pearl's family to host his feast. If Pearl enrolls in high school, she can make lots of human friends and lure them to the king's feast -- as the entrees.
The only problem? Pearl's starting to feel the twinges of a conscience. How can she serve up her new friends -- especially the cute guy who makes her fangs ache -- to be slaughtered? Then again, she's definitely dead if she lets down her family. What's a sunlight-loving vamp to do?
(YA, Simon & Schuster)
Welcome to For What It's Worth Sarah!
Karen: What is your best, worst or funniest costume you've ever worn? Sara: I used to agonize over what to be every year. Yet one year, I inexplicably ended up decorating a large box and going as a robot. This would have been fine, except that I tried to trick-or-treat with the big kids, followed them into the woods, and got wedged in between branches.
K: It's the end of the world. Who would you prefer to battle against? Witches, zombies, werewolves, vampires or ghosts?
S: Ghosts. Being noncorporeal, they would be unable to pick up weaponry and also be remarkably ineffectual at martial arts. I'd just put in ear plugs to block out the boo-ing.
K: What paranormal creature would you want on your side during the battle?
S: Witches, because they could exorcize the ghosts. Besides, vampires and werewolves would be far too likely to eat me if they felt peckish.
K: What is your favorite thing about Halloween and the fall season?
S: Cliched as it sounds, I love the leaves. I love the delicate mixture of colors on a single leaf, and I love to see hillsides painted in broad brush strokes of red, gold, and orange.
Karen: I live in FL now and fall is the one thing I miss the most.
K: Are you dressing up this year. Do you decorate and go all out for the holiday?
S: Some years, I wear wings. Some years, a tail. I think this year will be a wings year. I need more practice flying. :)
Thanks so much for interviewing me!
Karen: Thank you for joining Julie and I for our Month of Treats celebration! Great answers :-)

Julie at My 5 Monkey's has part one of our interview with Drink, Slay, Love author Sara Beth Durst today along with a vampire book themed giveaway, I'll have part two here tomorrow.
Today I'm talking about vampire books. Here are a few of my favorites. (in order of when I discovered them)
Interview with a Vampire by Anne Rice: This is the book that started it all for me. I fell in love with vampires after reading Interview with a Vampire. They were evil, sexy, brooding and there was a whole society and history that I never even considered when thinking about vampires before.
The Black Dagger Brotherhood by J.R.Ward: In particular Z's story. I've read this one many, many, many times. The series has gotten a little too scattered and repetitive for me (and I'm not even going to get into my Qhuay frustration) but those first few books (and Rhev's) are still favorites of mine.
The Night Huntress series by Jeaniene Frost: Cat and Bones. Need I say more? Again, my book spines are cracked beyond repair from re-reading. The first three books are insanely addictive.
WVMP Vampire Radio Series by Jeri Smith-Ready: Just when I was starting to get bored with the genre and thinking there wasn't an original concept when it came to vampires, I discovered this UF series. The blend of vampires, music and con games is fresh, original and sexy fun.
The Vampire Empire Book One: The Greyfriar by Clay and Susan Griffith: Anotherfresh take on the genre. Steampunk, evil vampires, forbidden love and secret identities. This book was on my favorites list for 2010.
I'm sure I'm forgetting a lot of great ones.....what am I missing? What are your favorites?
