Question: What’s the chore you resent having to do the most?

Answer: I don't like doing dishes or laundry but I deal with it. I really don't worry about chores a whole lot - I get to things when I get to them. lol

The chore I REALLY hate is vacuuming.

This is probably because, as an adult, I have owned multiple, very furry pets at one time (My max was 4 cats/4 dogs at one time). I've learned to have a house with very little carpet but this chore is never ending and seems useless - because as soon as I'm done - another hairball goes floating by.

It's a lot of work and doesn't seem to accomplish anything but I have to do it daily or we'll end up either smothered in a giant fur pile or sneeze to death.

Yes, yes, I could get a roomba but I doubt there's any way that I wouldn't be emptying that out all day and it's just easier to vacuum. I have to empty my large vacuum container out several times so I doubt a small roomba cup can handle what my dogs are dishing out lol

Oh! and mowing!!! My new yard in WA is much smaller than what we had in FL - and it's not HOT as hell and we get a break from mowing in the winter but - I had a riding mower in FL which was great and our new yard is very hilly in spots and pushing up or feeling like I'm hurtling down isn't very fun. And we have to do it at least once, sometimes twice a week. We considered hiring a landscaper but it's ridiculously expensive out here.

What's your least favorite chore?

  1. I get you about the vacuuming. That's how I felt about cleaning linoleum floors. Glad I don't have any of those, but back in the day I did. No satisfaction as they never seemed to look any better.

    1. We have laminate wood flooring and while it's better than carpet for fur - it just floats all over it. It's NEVER clean.

  2. Lol. I understand how you feel about vacuuming. My least favorite chores are cleaning the bathrooms and folding the laundry.

    1. I'm lazy about laundry. I only do it when I have to lol

  3. What cracks me up after years is that the cats are still afraid of the vacuum.

    1. I've never had animals that cared but Ripley and Kai go nuts.

  4. I don't mind vacuuming ever since we got a cordless Dyson. Even my husband vacuums. It's easy just to grab and do a spot area as needed. But I don't have quite as much pet fur as you, so I can see why it's such a chore.

    1. Yeah, I have a cordless too for quick pick ups but that would never work for the whole house.

I'm not even a person who worries about (small) messes but there's no keeping up with the fur lol

  5. For whatever reason, vacuuming doesn’t bother me. But I loathe scrubbing the tubs and the shower. Ugh. I turn the chore into such a major thing.

    1. I rarely do that so maybe that's why it's not on my list lol

I'm a horrible house cleaner but I have to vacuum because of the dogs.

    1. Shelties are not the best pets to own if you don't want to vacuum lol

I don't mind it so much as how much I have to do it.

Kevin and I swap off the mowing but that's another thing that has to be kept up because of the dogs.

  8. I used to mow the lawn when I was a child but then asthma put a stop to that. I hated it.

I think my least favorite chore is mopping. I complain about every time!

    1. I have to wear a mask when I mow for that reason. And in FL I couldn't mow when it was dry leaf season. For some reason it totally set me off.

I don't mop a lot. I know I should but that would be #1 most hated if I did lol

  11. I was about to say vacuuming was the easiest of household chores but you're right, when you have pets it's the worst because you can never get all that fluff! But it's gardening that I hate. Mowing the lawn is fine (if it's not holly) but weeding, that I hate with a passion because they always come back! I just hate housework in general though because it's never ending, there's always something to clean.

    1. I love weeding lol I LOVE gardening though. I had a huge butterfly garden in FL and now I'm trying to create a new one out here in WA.

Twice a week?!? Are you in the middle of the wilderness? LOL.

    That gif is so funny.

    1. It has more to do with the dogs. If it gets too long it's a mess for them running around and to clean up the #2 lol

When we were dogless for a little while after Fonzi we went almost 2 weeks without mowing.

  13. I detest doing dishes! I LOVE my dishwasher. When my old one broke, my husband came home to me crying in the kitchen because I had to do dishes... manually. In the sink. It wasn't the act of having to do a single load (no matter how large) it was the thought of having to do daily dishes until we got a new machine! I HATE them that much and my skin cannot handle it either... It drys out, cracks and bleeds. I'm so much of a drama queen over it, my husband ordered a new machine and covered the dishes for the two days it took to arrive. He's a good one. :)

That gif is my ragdoll with the hoover... She hates it and it must be punished, lol. I feel the futility of hoovering with all the fluffy creatures. It's never ending... But I like hoovering.

    1. I had a dishwasher for years and never even used it. It's just Kevin and I so I sort of cleaned as we went. When we remodeled our kitchen (in FL) we got a fancy dishwasher and my life was changed lol

We have on here in WA and I use it almost everyday now. Kevin likes doing dishes so he'll do them a lot if he's home before I can get them in the washer.

It's tough vacuuming out here because both dogs try to chase the vacuum and we have two floors now. It's a whole project. And I think Kai is secretly tossing fur around at night lol It's a crazy amount of fur!
