TMST Housekeeping....

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post where bloggers discuss a wide range of topics from books and blogging to life in general.

It is co-hosted by (Linda from Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell, Roberta from Offbeat YA, Jen from That’s What I’m Talking About, Berl's from Because Reading is Better than Real Life  and me)

Join in by answering this weeks question in the comments or on your own blog.

If you would like to join TMST and receive periodic emails of upcoming topics, please fill out this GOOGLE FORM. TMST is a laid back meme – join in or opt out depending on your interest in topics or schedule.

It's been a while since I've done this so I'm going to play a little topic catch-up and then hopefully jump back in weekly.

11/16/2021 Do authors/narrators actions, political beliefs, etc impact your view of their work?

I don't seek out information on anyone and I don't have a list of do's & don'ts regarding bookish people but...

Any author who has treated a blogger/reviewer badly or loses their shit over reviews/ratings is dead to me.

Again, I don't look up to see what people believe or whatever but if you're tweeting crazy, cruel things then you are on the nope list.

11/23/2021vGratitude. What books/authors/narrators/bloggers are you most thankful for this year?

I usually like to make a long list for this but I suck right now lol so I'm sticking to my TMST peeps because they're a great group to co-host with and so many times this year, TMST was the only thing that got me moving to blog...

#1 Jen from That's What I'm Talking About Books who single handedly holds this feature together. there are co-hosts (me included) but really it's Jen who keeps track of everything and steers the ship and I thank her for all the work she does!!!

#2 Linda from Books for Life - Linda and I started out waaaay back in the old blogging days and is one of my few original crew that's still around. Thank you for not leaving me! lol

#3 Roberta - Offbeat YA - Roberta is my one woman cheering squad, the provider of almost all the questions for this feature and someone I consider a good friend. Thank you for all of that you do and for occasionally giving me the kick in the pants I need to get blogging lol

#4 I just met Berl's from Because Reading Is Better Than Real Life through this feature! It's so awesome and rare these days to find new bloggers and I'm so thankful to all the girls for helping to keep this feature going after Heidi (rainy Days and Ramblings) decided to stop doing it.

11/30/2021 Book cover love: Share some book covers that you loved in 2021

(skip because I'm horrible at even remembering covers)

December 7th: Do you enjoy reading holiday-themed books at the holidays or year-round?

I'm not specifically a seasonal reader. I'll read anything at any time if I'm n the mood for it but I do like to pick up Christmas stories just because they tend to be shorter and are a fun, feel good, quick read if I'm feeling drained.

  1. There was a year I read mostly histrom holiday books. It's been about 10 years since I felt compelled to do that lol.

It's funny how bigoted authors can never keep their thoughts to themselves.

    1. Me too! It was years ago but they seemed to be the only ones writing them at the time. Now everyone does it.

It's amazing what people say out loud.

  2. I like seasonal reads here and there, though I'll definitely read whatever I want, whenever I want. I'm currently hoping to get a holiday book or two read this month or next. And I have a hard time remembering covers too. I'd have to scroll through Goodreads. LOL

    1. I'm reading Annabeth Albert's right now and it's one of the better ones by her that I've read in awhile.

  4. Yeah same here with authors. I don't go looking for trouble haha but if they're being an ass... yeah. :)

I only know Roberta and Berls but they're awesome (and I have no doubt the other hosts are as well- I should check out their blogs).

Same here w/ holiday reads. I do get in the mood for Christmasy stuff around this time- mysteries mainly or holiday suspense...

  6. Roberta really is a cheering squad, and I adore her for that. Like you, I don't seek out information, but it always seems to find me, and it does color my view of the author.

    1. With SM it's kind of hard to avoid even if you aren't trying to find it. It's hard to unsee or unknow a lot of it.

  7. I read the post's title and was like "Did we have a question about housekeeping?" 🤣

"and someone I consider a good friend"
    😭😭😭💚💚💚
(also, Sam's comment above. A whole squad? 😂😭💚).

I'm thankful for all of you blogging friends - you got me through this horrible year! And you in particular were the best when I lost my Twitter 🥰.

  8. I don't really care about an author's political beliefs, but I will never read their books if they're mean to bloggers or other authors. I don't condone the nasty tweets and bully behaviors.

Love that you just skipped over the favorite book covers question... LOL.

    1. Yeah, it's less about beliefs than behavior.

  9. I liked your answers.

I don't really read a lot of holiday themed books unless I find a PNR book that's holiday themed.

  10. I have been put off a lot of authors from hateful things they've said on Twitter. 😛
