My Monday Musings

I should be reading and writing reviews but tbh, I've been feeling completely frazzled lately.

I haven't been feeling great, Figgy has been needing me to give fluids at home (he just looooves that) and several meds - he's peeing and pooping everywhere (my house is now covered in plastic and pee pads) and has to go see a pricey specialist. Ripley has a urinary tract infection and is supposed to get spayed Friday. Just 2 visits for the 2 of them last week cost a fortune. And a few other little things.

Then there's just everything going on in the world.

But anyway - this is all to say, I'm barely keeping things together and want to tell everyone to f*ck off all the time so maybe I should take at least the week off 😂

Before I go - I want to rec two books that I read for review but aren't in the frame of mind to write up anything yet.

If you're looking for romance with a strong Hallmark-ish vibe these two are great choices.

The Twelve Dogs of Christmas by Lizzie Shane ~ Goodreads

"A delightful holiday romance about a small-town single dad and an animal rescue owner as they try to find forever homes for a dozen lovable pups before Christmas."

In a Holidaze by Christina Lauren ~ Goodreads

"One Christmas wish, two brothers, and a lifetime of hope are on the line for hapless Maelyn Jones in In a Holidaze, the quintessential holiday romantic novel by Christina Lauren, the New York Times bestselling author of The Unhoneymooners."

So, that's it for now and, hopefully, I'll be back soon-ish after take some time to relax a bit.

  1. Oh no, sorry to hear about all the health issues. And the financial punch that brings. 😟
I haven’t felt like reviewing much lately, either. But In a Holidaze was a lot of fun.

  2. Oh no sorry to hear about all the pet stuff. I'd be frazzled too! They coast a fortune to take care, don't they lol? Honestly though, I hope both of them are feeling better soon (and you too!!!) :)

In a Holidaze looks like a lot of fun.

    Hang in there!!!

    1. I just wish Figgy would use his litter box lol He will only go in the kitchen so we have this elaborate plastic sheeting/pee pad set up to protect the floor and have to watch the dogs constantly.

I really hope YOU are doing ok though!!

  3. Oh man, Karen. It sounds like you have a lot going on. I hope Figment gets better soon. I'm sure you're already aware of this, but whenever I have pricey vet visits, I use my CareCredit card. When my late cat had cancer, her vet visits were sometimes $400 a week (and the oncologist wanted to see her every week). We would be bankrupt if it wasn't for that credit card and the fact that I got 6 months to pay off each of the visits instead of having to do it monthly. I'll be keeping you and the furbabies in my thoughts. <3

    1. It's more that I'm already broke after Fonzi. I'm lucky that we have ways to pay for it - it's just another huge dent after mostly recovering from those bills.

Figgy is 15 so it's more about quality at this point but he's like a full time toddler at this point. I'm constantly cleaning up pee pads because he has completely abandoned the litter box. I'm so glad that Kevin came up with the pee pad idea or else I would need stock in a paper towel company! lol

  4. Hang in there, Karen! I hope all your fur babies are feeling better. I love the cover for Twelve Dogs. So cute!

  5. Oh girl... giant hugs. Take time for yourself. Hug the puppers and hide in your blanket fort if needed.

  6. That last gif is adorable, and I feel you on wanting to relax!! Sorry to hear about Figment and Ripley needing lots of doctor visits, etc. I hope Figment starts feeling better soon. I brought Charlie to the vet at the end of September and it was a bit pricey and now he has to GO BACK for a dental cleaning and that's going to cost almost as much. So yeah, it's a lot. Plus, you know, the world in general.

    1. Those dental cleanings are SO expensive! I had to do both Fonzi and Figment earlier this year and it was thousands of dollars.

Figgy is...ok. It's a lot of chronic issues that are coming to a head now that he's 15. We're just trying to keep him comfortable.

Good vibes to Charlie with his cleaning!

    1. Thanks Amber! I just feel like a giant stress ball ready to burst - even though things aren't that bad. Hormones? 2020? I don't know lol

  8. All the hugs! That's a lot to deal with and it makes it hard to focus on reading or anything. Ihope they're all on the mend super soon. ♥

    1. Me too. I just feel like a 24/7 poop/pee picker upper lol and non stop vet cash machine.

  9. I hope everything goes well with Ripley's spay!

I feel you on the vet bills and cats peeing/pooping when they shouldn't! Something is wrong with devil cat and the initial consultation was several hundred with many more to come as they don't know what's wrong with her just that something definitely is as her bloods are completely whacked! Ugh. I even had to invest in a super fancy carpet cleaning machine or it'd be new carpets. 😖

I've been definitely munching people (and telling them to go do one). I swear this year has a lot to answer for!

    1. We had to get a carpet cleaner too. My stair landing is covered in a giant sheet of plastic, and I have another sheet with pee pads in the kitchen because that 's the only place he'll go.

The bills are unreal and they never have any answers.

  10. I'm sorry you have to deal with Figgy getting senile in the worst way, poor guy. I hope Ripley will be OK at least! Hang on!

    1. He's not senile but has so many issues that are kind of colliding with his old age. Ripley is in now and I'm waiting to hear from the vet.

  11. I'm so sorry about the continued pet issues you're having. I really hope things better very soon. I've been feeling a bit angry and hacked off too, hence I bought a bookmark to cheer myself up! I don't want to swear here but it's on my weekend roundup! Sounds like you need one too!
