My Monday Musings…

Sick dog, sick cat, broken computer, corona virus in our area…blah, blah, blah just another week in the life of Karen lol

On to happier things! I’ve been super busy – with the above -  so I’m just going to show some pics of books I received and let you know about the few books I’ve had time to read.

READ

Family Camp by Eli Easton – Single foster dad takes his two foster kids to a family camp for some much needed bonding and gets a little help from the hot & cold (also a former foster) camp counselor in this super sweet M/M romance. The kids were super bratty and screaming at first and I was like….eeeeee…but the reasons became clear and my heart went out to this budding family. The romance was great and it was the feel good book I was needing. Also on KU if you’re a subscriber!

The Gravity of Us by Phil Stamper – Interesting LGBQT YA novel combining first love, NASA and commentary on social media. It was a low key, easy kind of story. I should have a review up this week.

FOR REVIEW

Thank you to MBC and the publishers for the chance to read and review these titles.

FROM AWESOME FRIENDS

Thank you Lindsi and my Wifey Brooke!

I'm hoping to start either Chasing Lucky or The Electric Air today. I'm not sure which because The Electric Heir has some HEAVY topics so do I want to save Chasing Lucky for after??? #readerproblems

What are you reading this week? Did you get any good Book Mail?

  1. Ah, corona virus, sweeping the world and spreading craziness. I am definitely fed up of the warnings through work. But I am sorry to hear about the sick dog and cat. I have seen some of your tweets about it so I am sending you all the good vibes. But let's move on to the other things.

Family Camp sounds like a good read and I might have to check it out on KU. And you definitely have some awesome friends to get a Sandhya Menon book and Jenn Bennett. I am jealous, I always love a Jenn Bennett read.

    1. Bennett is always a feel good comfort read for me.

We have a few cases of the virus all around us. I'm close to both the WA and OR cases. So...fun

  2. You are more deserving for some good news and an uneventful week than anyone I know right now. Sheesh. How cool that you got a copy of Chasing Lucky! I’ve actually only read one by Bennett so far but it was enough for me to know that I definitely want to read more.

  3. Coronavirus! Ack lol! Okay honestly... I'm hoping this goes like H1N1 where it ended up not being as bad as they thought it might be. I guess we'll see. Sorry to hear you've got cases by you! Stay safe and avoid all the people haha. :) I hope figment and Fonzi (do I have their names right?) are doing okay- hang in there!

The gravity Of Us looks cute.

  6. I have heard such amazing things about Scar Like Wings and Chasing Lucky so I hope you enjoy both those books. And I am glad the Gravity of Us was a slow and easy romantic YA book. I was hoping it would be just that. Still hoping Fonzi will get better and gah, sorry about the technology frustrations!

  8. Hopefully you can stay well away from anyone with the virus-you have more than enough to deal with at the moment. Our first case came to Scotland this week but it's an area several hours drive away. Not much info being released though. I hope Fonzi will be on the mend soon.

  10. Ugh, I hate that you're dealing with so much right now. I hope the animals get better soon!!! You know I'm excited about The Electric Heir, but yeah, it seems like a heavy one...plus, those books are just dense in a way with all the science, so it takes me longer to read. I loved The Fever King though. I still need to read The Gravity of Us, and I've read one or two books by Eli Easton. This one sounds cute.

    1. I'm reading The Electric Heir now and it's...difficult but I am liking it. I get really confused by all the politics. I'm not sure I get the details lol

I think you would really like the Easton and Stamper's.

I hope things are picking up with Fonzi and Figment? Poor fur babies. :( (And poor you!)

Chasing Lucky sounds wonderful. I nabbed that one on NetGalley and will be reading it soon. :)
