52 Lists Friday…

I’m trying to do more personal (non bookish) posts so this might be a new regular feature. I’m so undisciplined with blogging right now that following a few prompts or features might be what I need to get back on track. I am definitely not reading enough to have reviews on any type of regular basis right now. lol

And I want to try to keep think more positively about the move – which sometimes gets a little tough for me during the cold, rainy weather of winter.

I tried doing the 52 Lists Project last year but I was so far behind and some of the questions were too personal so I’m switching to the 52 Lists for Happiness prompts.

I’ll posts the prompt for next Friday at the end in case you want to join in.

LIST WHAT MAKES YOU HAPPY RIGHT NOW

* Seeing my niece. We hadn’t seen her, or Kevin’s sister, in close to 10 years. They were in town for a dance competition and we met with them for dinner one night and then had my niece overnight and brought her to the airport. She’s soooo sweet and bookish and loves animals. We’re not big on company but it was a really nice visit.

* My new raincoat. I’ve had the hardest time finding a raincoat that was warm enough but not too bulky for our constantly changing temperatures and weather. And one that fits tiny me. I ended up finding one on clearance at the Columbia store at the airport. Score!

* My house. We’ve got almost everything in place now and it feels so great to have that settled feeling again.

* Good Doctors. It’s always nerve wracking finding new Drs. but I have had nothing but great experiences out here so far. It’s always shocking when I call and they fit me in immediately when I have a problem and with my actual Dr. – not the PA. And they listen to you! Spend time with you!
Florida is full of retirees so it’s usually months long waits to get in anywhere and they’re so far behind already, they rush you out.

*I think I’m back in a reading groove. Not anywhere near my old pace but I’m listening to a book and reading another – so that’s 2 more books than what I was reading before lol

The book follows each list with a take action section. For this list it’s – How often do you actually get to experience these things? Take one item from your list and see how you can turn it into a daily practice of happiness.

What makes you happy right now?

Next weeks list:

List the routines in your personal life and work - circle the ones that bring you joy, and cross out all the routines you dislike. What is it about the circled routines that bring you joy?

  1. Prompts can be fun! And definitely helpful for blogging. That's nice that you got to visit with your niece, and that she's bookish! I'm SO happy for you that you've found good doctors, because those are incredibly hard to find. This list thing seems fun, I look forward to more of your list posts!

    1. I really needed something non bookish to get me motivated again.

I went through something similar to what you're going through when I was in FL about a decade ago. I couldn't' even walk down the street from pain & either Drs. didn't believe me or insurance wouldn't cover a test that might have found something.

Everything has been fairly minor so far out here but it's promising.

  2. I have this book as well as the first one, I haven't started any of the lists yet, but doing the prompts as a blog post is a brilliant idea!
And I've lived in the PNW for almost 9 years now and I still don't have a rain coat! It does take some time to get used to the weather, especially because it is so different from where you were living before. I'm originally from Southern California, so it was similar for me when I first moved here. But I'm also a huge water sign and love the rain, so that might have made it a little easier for me. It's the long dark days that I really struggle with.

    1. I do love rain (& we had it daily in FL during the summer) but it's the cold wind and clouds that get me down. It's not like I loved 99 degrees and 100% humidity either but it's what I was used to so it will take a season or two to adapt.

  3. Finally getting done with the TBR add-on will make me happy! I hope to do that this morning and then I can concentrate on getting back to reading!

  4. Wow! 10 years is a long time. It's wonderful you had the chance to spend time with your niece. Glad to hear your house is feeling like a home. That was a big move, but from all your posts on Instagram, it seems like you are exploring a lot and making the most of it.

  5. Great post, Karen - and a great list! Hooray for feeling settled at home, for a doctor you like, and for getting back into your reading groove! I'm feeling the same way about my reading. It's slower than it was, but I'm just so happy to be reading again!

    1. It feels strange that I can't read fast right now but I'm also enjoying other things in life right now so I'm learning to roll with it. It makes for infrequent blogging though lol

  8. I hear you on reviews! I've been struggling to get any out lately. And yay for doctors lol. I almost always see my PA too- I can't remember the last time I saw the actual doctor.

    Looks like a great book.

  9. "She’s soooo sweet and bookish and loves animals."
Ha! It runs in the family! I mean, she's Kevin's niece, and I don't know if he's big on reading, but still.

I'm glad to hear the house is set, and your new doctors are the real kind. Health care is such a disgrace here.

Now we want a pic of you wearing that raincoat! Remember, YOU started it 😂 😉.

    1. He's not and her parents are not into animals but I guess we wore off on her from afar lol

Health care is awful here too. I think this has to do more with a small population to be honest. we'll see how it goes the longer we're here.

  12. How wonderful you were able to visit with your niece! 💟💟💟

I used to buy rain coats with zip out quilted linings. I still have my last one, but I prefer putting on a sweater underneath instead now for some reason. ☔

Yay for good doctors! I haven't had a decent one since I lost my good insurance. I am hoping when I become eligible for Medicare in a couple of years that will change. 👍✨

This is a great prompt. I might try it out! 🙌🙌🙌

    1. I have one with a zip out lining now. The problem here is that I'm cold then hot lol And most rain coats are a weird material that make me feel like I'm in a sauna.

Oh I'd love if you joined in even if it's just occasionally.

  13. I love lists. I'm curious about what the other prompts are!

Good to hear that you're feeling settled at home now. I find it weird that you ever had to wait so long to see a doctor but I'm glad it's better where you now are!

    1. For emergencies or if you are sick they have to get you in within so many hours but you rarely see your Dr. It's usually a physician assistant. And for general appointments they were booked almost a year in advance. Even the dentist.
