Tell me Something Tuesday

Tell Me Something Tuesday is hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings and discusses a wide range of topics from books to blogging.

I’m really late with this one!

Question: Would you spend a full night in a haunted house if someone paid you?

I don’t really believe in ghosts so to be paid to to stay in a house – SURE! lol

But let’s say there really are ghosts. Then I need to know a little more.

Is it a Casper the friendly ghost type where we can chat and pal around for the night? Ghosts who are just *stuck* and want help or just have someone to vent to?

Both of those are good with me. We'll hang, chat, read, maybe help them pass over. It would be fun!

If it's an uptight ghost that makes a ruckus but can't touch me and if it’s A LOT of money - I could just hunker down in one room and ignore whatever it was for one night.

Or is it an evil kind of ghost/entity who tries to get in my brain and make me mad so I try to kill myself? Or the kind that can hurl objects and come out of walls then NOPE. I don’t care how much money you pay me.

And I would NEVER stay in a house with a kid that keeps saying creepy shit to me all night. Even if there were NO ghosts!

My Maybe A Ghost Story:

*I've told this on my blog a few times already but if you haven't read it yet - here's my true story brush with the supernatural.....bwhuaaaa bwhuaaaaa

When I was very young I used to play out in my yard along a rose bush hedge that separated our yard from my neighbors. I knew them a little – they would let me play under their Weeping Willow tree and sometimes invited me in for lemonade.

One day while I was playing on my side of the rose bushes a much older woman in a long white dress came up to me and started talking. She asked me what game I was playing, talked about the roses and talked about the people who lived in the neighborhood. She said it was nice to meet me and left. I didn’t think too much about it (this was in the early 70’s by the way…no weirdo kidnappings and neighbors were still friendly – my mom watched me through the kitchen window) I told my mother about the woman but she said she hadn’t seen anything and she probably thought I was making it up. I was an only child so I did tend to have a bit of an imagination!

A few weeks had passed when my neighbor’s invited me in for a drink after a day of playing under the Willow tree. While in their house I saw a picture on the mantle of the woman I had talked to and told them about our conversation. Well – they completely freaked out! They kept asking if I was sure  it was her. I was positive because I didn’t know anyone else that old at the time other than my grandmother. It turned out the woman was their mother who had died the year before. The things the woman had told me were things that only she would know about their family. Not something a 12 year old would know on her own.

My neighbor’s brought me home and had a heated discussion with my mother. I have no idea what they said……but they never talked to me again. They still let me play in their yard but they never offered me a drink or came out to talk to me again.

I’m still not sure I actually saw a ghost and nothing like that ever happened to me again so you can interpret that story as you wish …but there it is!

You want to spend your time with a ghost READING?!? ๐Ÿ˜ฆ I can see a pattern here...๐Ÿ˜‚

LOL, I second that! The ghost would definitely sit better with me ๐Ÿ˜‚.

Darn! I had completely forgotten about this story! I was taken aback when you mentioned it on my blog.

    1. Those movie kids always see the ghost when you can't and say super creepy things lol

That would freak me out way more than the ghost.

  3. I don't believe in ghosts so I would have no problem staying in a haunted house.

  4. Aww! Such a shame they reacted like that... I would've found that pretty cool. Then Again maybe they just thought you were crazy

As long as the ghosts can’t harm me, i’d be down. If it’s a revange ghost that can follow me home erhh... nvm then xd money wouldn’t be enough

    1. Yeah - I was so young so I don't know what I sounded like lol As I mentioned I'm afraid of kids saying creepy things and here I was - one of them! hahaha

  5. My coworkers told me that this mansion nearby is really haunted. And they are giving a tour soon so, I am going! Let's deal with this ghost thing, but at least I am not alone, and people actually live there lol

  6. When I was younger the answer would have been yes but now I value my sleep too much to risk being scared by bumps and ghostly stuff shredding my nerves!

  9. Would you spend a full night in a haunted house if someone paid you? Now there's a question.

Altogether sceptical as to whether or not ghosts actually exist whilst I cannot say for certain whether or not I'd want to spend the night in a house that is (supposedly) haunted I think it safe to say I wouldn't be staying TOO LONG in a house that actually proved to be haunted.

  10. PS Love your spooky tale. I may well one day tell you my experience of staying in the hotel that was a cross between that in The Shining and the Marie Celeste.

  11. Whoa.. that is quite the spooky tale.. I wonder why we lost our abilities to see and believe in things as adults? I am sure you likely did meet the neighbors deceased mother. I wouldn’t stay in a house with a kid who kept talking about creepy stuff either.

    1. I wonder if we can't explain things as kids so they seem more mysterious or if we can't (or don't want to) *see* things anymore as adults.

  12. Though I don't believe in hauntings, etc, it would still probably be a nope for me. I am just a scaredy cat.

    1. I have a super logical brain. Scary movies don't bother me either.

  13. Look, I am staying at the house no matter what. I don't believe in ghosts either, but for the sake of argument, even then, I need the money hahha. That story of yours is pretty cool though! It always makes me wonder, though my logical side generally wins out in the end.

    1. I just always assume I was really young and I'm missing some logical part of the story so I won't definitively say I saw a ghost.

My only nope! is if they try to get in my head like Haunting on Hill House. Then I'm not getting the money anyway because I'll most likely be dead lol

  14. Haha I'm with you on this one! I don't believe in ghosts so I'd definitely take the money. XD

    1. Yup!!

I just heard a report on the radio where they are doing this no one has lasted the night. WHY????

  15. I love that ghost story! I can believe it. I wouldn't say I'm much of a ghost believing nut bag but I definitely think there's things we can't explain yet so I'll listen with an open mind to anything but don't get too invested, if that makes sense?

As for staying in a haunted house... It may sound weird but the UK is LOADED with super old buildings and so many have ghostly tales attached that it'd be pretty hard not to spend the night in one on occasion just by going about your normal business so to be paid to stay in one? Just hand me the cash and point me to the building. *shrugs*

    1. That's what growing up in New England in the US was like. Everything is *haunted* so it wouldn't be a big deal to me at all. MONEY!! lol

  16. I do believe in ghosts, so I'd be a bit wary on what TYPE of ghost/entity it would be, but if I wasn't in danger, then yeah, I'd do it. I could definitely use some money right now. LOL

  17. I don't believe in ghosts, but I do believe there are evil spirits so I'd have to get the full story of the type of haunting like you mention above. I wouldn't want to be in a dangerous situation for any amount of money.

Even though I don't believe in ghosts, your personal experience is pretty creepy! I wonder though why the neighbors didn't speak to you after? Did they think you were making it up? I don't see how they could think that when you had information you had no way of knowing without speaking to that "woman" or entity.

    ReplyDelete
  18. Nope! lol unless it was a LOT of money haha. :)

    ReplyDelete
  19. YES. Actually, it depends on how much I get paid. LOL.

  20. I love how your answer comes with all kinds of caveats. Mine is just a solid nope. LOL
That's crazy about the woman you saw. And it obviously freaked the neighbors out!

  21. After that how could you not believe in ghosts?! Ha ha. You are in serious denial. ๐Ÿ‘ป
