My Monday Musings…
Going on week…whatever. I've lost track at this point – of my wrist/arm/neck issue. It is getting better thanks to rest, massage, physical therapy and drugs but it’s tough not using my right hand then trying to use my phone or computer for even basic things and hurting it again. I’m restricting my phone/computer use and trying to use voice to text when I can but it's slow going.
So bear with me while I verrrry slowly visit and comment on your blogs. I’m trying to hit up 5-6 per day.
I have started reading again a bit. Finally! I went 4 weeks without reading. It always feels weird when I don’t read for an extended period of time but I’ve also learned to roll with it because it’s my brain telling me to take a break to avoid burnout.
Here’s a quick update of my January reading plans. (I’m not even going to recap December because I only read 2 books lol)
January TBR:
I already read Love `a la Mode and it was adorable. Heavy on the foodie references with a dash or romance. I’m hoping to be able to type up a review in the next week or so.
This week in reading:
96 Words For Love is up next.
I’ve been reading Reindeer Games: A Holiday Romance Anthology since November and at the pace I’m going I might have it done in time for next Christmas lol
But the first story, His For The Holiday - a M/M romance by Helen Kay Dimon – A recluse professor & a former graduate student (although he’s much older by the tie the romance happens) - was very good - the second story, Dysfunctional - a M/f romance, by Eve Dangerfield was scorching hot with the swooniest of heroes falling hard for a feisty, jaded heroine who’s sworn off men, sex and relationships. 7 more stories to go!
And, to rest my hand, I’ve been listening to the audio of The Memory of You by Jamie Beck. It was on KU, which I really need to use more since I paid for it. Single dad and SUPER grumpy hero (he’s been burned a lot in his relationships) reunites with the first girl to break his heart when they both move back to their small home town. A few quibbles but I’m enjoying so far.
What are your reading plans for this week or month?

The wrist/arm/neck pain thing majorly sucks...especially when you're a blogger. I'm probably heading the same way with my neck/shoulders...
ReplyDeleteLovely pics as usual - and that unicorn cup LOL.
Happy dive back into reading!
It's such a pain...literally and for just trying to get things done. I've had it before but usually catch it in time and only need to rest the weekend or something but I pushed it too far this time.
DeleteThat mug is the greatest! Also, I didn't realize you were injured. I'm so sorry to hear that and hope you're back at 100% soon.
ReplyDeleteYeah - it started in November and any time I make progress and jump back into using my arm it kicks in again. It is much better though.
DeleteI hope your arm gets better soon. I remember a few years ago when I broke my shoulder, it took me 2 months before I could get on the computer for more than a few minutes. It was so frustrating.
ReplyDeleteThat's awful. At least I can use my arm but yes, super frustrating.
DeleteThe arm thing does suck :/ I sure hope it gets better!
ReplyDeleteAnd ohh, a good book, awesome! You can do it
I'm making some progress - both with the arm and reading.
DeleteHope you feel better soon- that sounds incredibly frustrating. And I haven't read anything (other than a few graphic novels) since New Years haha so I'm definitely slacking! I am however making progress on my binging requirements so I guess that's where my reading time went. :)
ReplyDeleteLove the mug!
It's always my slowest time of year for reading anyway - although I usually read a lot of Christmas novellas - but it's frustrating to WANT to read again but it hurts to.
DeleteSo sorry - I have had recurring neck/shoulder/hand issues, always in my right hand/computer mouse hand. And yes, limiting the computer time has helped. I'm hoping you will be feeling better very soon!
ReplyDeleteJen Ryland Reviews
Sounds like what I have. Once it kicks in then it takes weeks to heal. But it's difficult not using that hand at all.
DeleteWhat's the diagnosis on arm/hand/neck situation. It sounds like it's spreading.
ReplyDeleteTendinitis and it is getting better but I did a good job hurting it this time.
DeleteUgh, sorry the issue continues. I've had shoulder issues for months (arthritis and bursitis) but at least it's not my right arm. That has to be tricky. Love a la Mode looks so cute. I'm currently reading an arc of Jennifer Armentrout's Moonlight Scandals that releases on the 29th. After that... maybe The Wicked King?
ReplyDeleteTWK!! I hope you like it. It was wild.
DeleteI've been trying to use my left arm more but I'll probably end up just hurting that one too lol
You should definitely take some more break in reading if you need that. I hope you feel better soon! That mug is soo cute!
ReplyDeleteI'm currently reading The Passage by Justin Cronin :)
I've heard that's a good one!
DeleteI love that mug. It makes me laugh every time I use it.
I've got off to a good start with my reading this month after a disappointing overall year in 2018. I'm still fighting this stupid bursitis which is annoying but I can't exactly not use my arm until it goes away! I hope you have some respite from the pain soon.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the unicorn mug!!!
Exactly. The cure is to rest the hand/arm but while I can cut back and can't not use it at all.
DeleteI'm sorry you're still in pain - I imagine that typing really is difficult right now, so definitely don't overdo things! I do enjoy Helen Kay Dimon, so that short story sounds really good. I'm glad you're reading mojo is coming back at least! :)

I'm mostly using speech to text for anything on my phone and limiting computer/kindle time or try to use my left hand. I'm getting there but man it's slow going!
DeleteMan hope your pain gets better. A break grin reading is needed sometimes. I'm currently in an audio kick since I've had some commutes for treatment.
ReplyDeleteI still struggle with audio but I'm getting there. It's too slow to be my primary source of reading (& I don't have long commutes) but I find certain genres appeal to me in that format - like fantasy.
DeleteI hope your treatments are going well Grace.
At least the wrist/arm/neck issues are improving. As frustrating as it must be restricting use is good and just think, at least there are plenty of alternatives available so you don't have to abandon your phone completely. Very sensible embracing rolling with it when you don't feel like reading, forcing it is often worse. And it makes it all the more fun when you return to reading because you realise how much you missed it (I do anyway).
ReplyDeleteIt's getting there. Sloooooowly lol
DeleteI always come back refreshed after a break and really happy to read. So I go with it instead of trudging through books I;m not enjoying.
Man, you have had a time of it with the physical troubles. I'm glad its getting better and its neat how you've been able to at least get to your audios and a little bit of reading again.
ReplyDeleteLOL, about your Reindeer Games. I took a year on an anthology a little while back. I think I read one story a month between other books. It worked. :)
Have a great week, Karen!
I finally finished it!!! Go me lol
DeleteI hope you feel better soon! Have a good week.
ReplyDeleteAj @ Read All The Things!
I'm getting there!
DeleteFeel better soon! I hope you enjoy 96 Words! I've seen tons of hype for it!
ReplyDeleteI think I'm going to give it a go this week. I've read pretty mixed reviews.
DeleteLovely pictures ! I got Reindeer Games over the holiday season too. I haven't gotten past the first story so I think it will take me a while to finish all of it!
ReplyDeleteI finally did and the first two were my favorites so I probably could have quit there lol
DeleteUgh. I hope you get better soon. I never thought I had an accent until I started using speech-text on my phone. Goodness! I always have to proof read it before I send it out because most times it comes out as complete jibberish. LoL
ReplyDeleteHa! Yes, it's been a process.
DeleteI am sorry to hear that you are not feeling well. Aches and pains are no fun. I hope you are on the mend soon. I know what you mean about not reading, I have struggled with reading and blogging since the holidays, trying to motivate myself to catch up today. Hugs, hope you feel better!
ReplyDeleteI just had 0 urge to read. It's coming back to me now though so that's good.
DeleteIt looks like you have some fun reads in plan for this month, its definitely been a great start to the new year right??!!!Happy Reading
ReplyDeleteI always start back slow in January but I love the relief that the holidays are over lol
DeleteI hope you keep getting better. I am really sorry to hear you are so uncomfortable. I agree, Love a la Mode was adorable. Rosie pretty much owned my heart. I seem to be a bit of a black sheep, but I loved The Me I Meant to Be. The romances worked for me and it was pretty fun. I am curious to see what you think about 96 Words. I have my eye on that one.
ReplyDeleteThe hand situation is finally making some big progress so yay!
DeleteAw I am so sorry that you are still struggling! I hope it gets better so soon for you ♥♥♥
ReplyDeleteI really hope 96 Words for Love is good, I have been wanting to read that one soon. It sounds good, anyway! Also your mug is my new favorite thing in the world, LOVE. IT.
Isn't that mug great??!! It makes me laugh every time I use it.
DeleteGlad you are feeling better- but it sounds like things are still tough. Awesome that you are getting a lot of reading in. I love your new unicorn mug. :) Have a great weekend!

I took most of the week off from my phone/computer and it helped A LOT
DeleteIt sucks that recovery is so slow but at least it IS getting better. Fingers crossed it's that snowball effect - nice and slow at the beginning and then faster and faster until bam! All healed.
ReplyDeleteI don't have reading plans this month beyond desperately hoping I manage to finish something! I just can't settle on anything. I keep picking up a book, reading some of it, putting it down and moving on because it's not what I want. It's so frustrating.
I'm like 80% better which is a huge improvement.
DeleteI'm having the same issues with reading :-(
A La Mode looks like a really fun read! Thanks for sharing; will have to add to my TBR shelf. Also I love that mug so very much, LOLOL!!!
ReplyDeleteMe toooo! It's my MOOD most days lol
DeleteI hope you enjoy 96 words for love because there is a lot of hype for that book!
ReplyDeleteTori @ In Tori Lex
96 Words is such a beautiful cover! And I have heard such good things about The Me I Was Meant to Be as well. I hope you read all three of these and many more. I don't really set TBRs but I am reading Genuine Fraud by E Lockhart at the moment and really enjoying it x
ReplyDeleteI've been binge-ing on KU since I have that 3 month for 99cent deal. Yay for getting back to reading :) Makes me happy to hear!
ReplyDeleteGosh, I hope your pain is pretty much gone by now. <3 It suuucks to hurt. Sigh. And yay for having planned on reading such pretty books in January :D I hope you managed to get to them. <3 And hope you are having a great 2019 so far :)
