New Year, new you tag!

TBB-ASKS-JANUARY-2018

I love these fun tags that The Blended Blog hosts. Always fun to answer and to see what other people have to say! This one is all about January!

  1. Resolutions or no resolutions? Neither. I do One Word and try to incorporate that word/feeling into my life for that year – rather than something specific.
  2. Love snow or no snow? I grew up in RI and used to love snow. Then I lived in upstate NY (near Buffalo) for several years and that broke me. When it snowed in June one year - I surrendered and we moved to FL. I get cold here! I’m over the snow. It is pretty though. Maybe I could visit somewhere that has like…an inch of snow.
  3. Name a new place you want to go this year. Austin, TX or maybe go back to Asheville, NC for another visit since we had so much fun there last year.
  4. Would you rather have a new hair cut or new hair color? I would kill to get a GOOD haircut. I have weird, rebellious hair and if someone could figure out what to do with it I would love them forever. Short of that – I’ll go with the color – to hide the weird, rebellious hair.
  5. Name one special thing you want to do for yourself this year. I don’t know. Probably just travel a bit more.
  6. Least favorite thing about January? The time between Christmas and New Years feels like being lost in a void. It takes me a bit to get back on track and even remember what day it is in January.
  7. Most favorite thing about January? The holidays are over! I’m not a fan. Bah-humbug! lol
  8. When do you take down your holiday decorations? I don’t put up a lot but what I do comes down the day after Christmas or New Years, the latest.
  9. Do you diet in January? No. I eat pretty well, even during the holidays.
  10. What area of your home do you want to organize the most? I have a spare bedroom that has pretty much become a dumping ground that I would like to get arganized this year..
  11. Favorite winter comfort food? Soup. I love pea soup, potato soup, lentil soup. All the soup!
  12. Favorite guilty pleasure? I don’t like to call anything a *gulity pleasure* but when I need to de-stress Iike to binge romance novellas and watch cartoons.

  1. This is a fun tag! I'm kinda with you on snow- I like it at first, a nice snowfall or two especially at holiday time, but then in January I'm over it. :) And January in general is just kinda blah. Especially here in the north! I need the sun back!

    1. When I lived in RI, March was THE WORST. It stopped snowing but all the old snow was still there and dirty, melting into mud puddles.

In NY, it started snowing on Halloween so I was done by Thanksgiving lol

  2. I didn't realize you grew up where it was cold! So you just became a wimp after you moved to FL, huh? ;-) I would love to dye my hair pink or teal, but I just wouldn't have the energy to keep up w/ it and it would fade so quickly. I hope you get the chance to travel some this year!

    1. I did! I was fine with RI snow but the NY snow and cold did me in. I literally got my fingers stuck to a fence once and got my truck snowplowed into a snow bank (with me in it) lol

I've done red stripes in mine. I used OTC stuff that's supposed to come out in 3-5 washes but it was there for 2-3 months! I think I'm going to try it again, maybe with purple but do it on the bottom layers of my hair instead of on top. It just peeks out instead of WAAAAAA bright hair! I saw it online & it looks cool.

  4. I read somewhere recently that NY gets the most snow. I had no idea. I always thought it was Maine with NH coming in a close second. I hate the snow but my family refuses to budge from New England :(

    1. We were just south of the town that gets the most snow. I think we were #3 or 4. It was traumatizing lol

  5. The last time it snowed here was 6 years ago. I wouldn't mind a little more snow.

  8. My family lives in Austin now, it's WONDERFUL. I personally wouldn't want to live in TX, not my style, but there is so much to do!

    1. I wouldn't want to live there either lol My sister-in-law used to live in San Antonio and I've been to Dallas but I want to visit Austin. It sounds much more my speed.

  9. I get what you mean about the snow in NY -- it can totally get crazy like that here in Canada too. Shovelling the sidewalk every morning gets old after a few months, haha. Soup is the best winter food!

  12. Lol, I'm normally not a holiday person, either. We just got a foot of snow overnight. I'm over it already.

  13. YES TO THE HAIRCUT. I grew out my hair in December for a cheerleading competition (I like to have it jumping around in a ponytail because I'm weird like that), and I would LOVE a good haircut right now. I usually get my hair done in some cheap sidewalk salon, but they usually get my bangs all wrong and it irks me so much. YES TO SOUP AS WELL! I'd love a cream-of-anything soup right about now.

    1. See, i need a ponytail too. lol Everyone wants me to just cut it short because of my type of hair but I don't wanna!

We don't have any good stylists here. All I can hope for is that it comes out even and not hacked.

  14. I love Asheville, NC! My ex-husband's family lives near that area so we would always find something to do in Asheville when we visited them.

  15. I have the same hair Lauren, it's wild and curly and a few years ago I just gave up trying to straighten it. Embrace the wild Karen! I know from friends how frustrating snow must be, as an Aussie though I'm amazed by it and have never seen it in person.

    1. I have so many cowlicks and the top is flat while the bottom is wavy and thick. I wish I could find someone who knew how to deal with it. I had a great hair stylists when I was younger but nothing where I live now.

I do flatiron it and that works well. It takesless than 5 minutes and lasts all week.

  17. I swear I left a comment to this, but I can't for the life of me find it :( Anyway, I always love these prompts so much, and the Blended Blog always has great Q&As!

I love all the soup this time of year, too. And I also crave routine after the holidays, because like you said that time between Christmas and New Year is a weird vortex.

I'd love to go to Austin, too! XOXO and hope 2018 brings you lots of travel!

  18. Oh my gosh. I am with you on the haircut. I've been lamenting mine this week and the fact I really need another one but it is such a huge risk. lol
