For What It's Worth

I'm tired - therefore I ramble...

I’m feeling really tired today after going to a concert last night. We didn’t get home until 1am and after letting the dogs out, giving Figgy a snack and getting ready for bed – I didn’t get to sleep until close to 2am and had to get up early this morning.

Basically, at 52 years old, I’m too old for this shit lol But I’m determined to stay young at heart and not become an old curmudgeon who yells “I don’t get what these kids are listening to these days!” “That’s satan’s music!” (of which I heard all the time growing up during the bat head eating Ozzy Ozborne days).

So, how tired am I? Well, I tried to eat a banana with the peel still on. I don’t advise doing that. It’s gross. I wrote a review for a book I didn’t need to while ignoring the one I did need to write. Then when editing it – realized it was a hot mess of typos so I shouldn’t have bothered at all.

Anyway! It was a fun concert and totally worth it.

We saw Romes (new to me but I really liked their set), Colony House, and Mutemath. This is the second time I’ve seen Mutemath and they put on a fantastic show. They played for 2 hours and move almost non stop. I honestly don't know how these guys do it night after night. I need a week to recover from WATCHING it. lol

Their set was all white which looked really stark and weird until they came out and projected images on the backdrop and on them (dressed in white) Very cool effect.

In other news…Fonzi is weird.

No sooner had I done a post about how he falls head first into the pool and he will only sleep next to his dog beds but not in them he did this. A compromise perhaps?

But wait…there’s more.

This is Fonzi with my cat Figment. Normal picture until I tell you that Fonzi is stuck in the chair waiting for me to come save him. Because he’s afraid of the cat. Whenever Fonzi isn’t shadowing me around the house, I know Figment has him cornered in his chair (which was supposed to be MY reading chair – but I digress).

Need more evidence that Fonzi is a little odd? (but absolutely 100% adorable anyway!)

Fonzi vs the gargoyle.

The gargoyle has been in my garden for years but we had to move it to the shed for hurricane Irma. I took it out last week but haven’t had a chance to move it back to the garden. Fonzi discovered it and just stood there staring at it for over 10 minutes. No exageration. I had time to go back in the house, grab my camera and come back out and get a picture. Didn’t bark, didn’t move. Just stared.

I make fun but I LOVE this dog. Nothing makes me smile faster than his little squishable face!

As you can tell from this rambling post, I’m running on fumes and am trying everything possible to avoid whatever I’m supposed to be doing lol Job well done Karen!

I guess I can’t avoid real life and work anymore…so happy TGIF and have a great weekend!

  1. "I wrote a review for a book I didn’t need to while ignoring the one I did need to write" I've done that before and it sucked when I realized hahaha

    1. Really?? Even with the baby? I rarely stay up past 9pm so it totally wipes me out.

  3. Omg, Fonzi is adorable! I love the first one - his leg over the bed. Too cute!!

I'm glad you had a nice time at the concert. I get so worn out by concerts too and I'm 27 so no worries. LOL Projecting things on the white sounds awesome. Cool effect!

    1. It was cool. At first it reminded me of Devo but it all made sense once the show got going.

I don't feel so bad about being tired now. You're a young whipper snapper in comparison and you get tired too! lol

  4. I go to bed really early so if I was up until 2 am I would probably try to eat a banana with a peel on lol. I am pretty sure I am that old curmudgeon ( at the good old age of 34) that doesn't get what the kids are listening to lol. Glad you had fun though!! Fonzi is adorable :)

Well, this was a fun post all around, but I can especially relate to the sentence above...though it's ages since I saw a concert - which is due to home problems, but honestly, if I did, I'd probably go see musicians I'm really fond of, and not take a chance on those I don't know that well. Not because of the old curmudgeon thing, but you see, I need to be fairly sure I will like something before I committ to it (this applies to books and even TV series to me, even if the latter are free LOL). So kudos to you and Kevin for taking those chances, even if it means zombieing around and eating unpeeled bananas the day after 😉.

I love Fonzi. He's the source of all the good laughs and awwwww moments I desperately need more often than not 😉. That bed pic 😍.

    1. I did know the headliner (Mutemath). It's usually the opening acts I don't know - and sometimes they don't announce them until the week before.

I would take a chance on bands if they were closer but this venue is just over an hour away. The drive isn't so bad except that the shows end after 11 and then we have to go home and we're exhausted!

We saw Blondie a few months ago and I was so floored by her energy. She's in her 70's! and still working it!

My Fonzi... *heart eyes* I'm so lucky to have him in my life.

When he was a way for herding I was almost despondent without him. I felt so lost. And that woman (who trained him) cried like a baby when I came to get him because she totally fell in love. He has that effect on people.

  6. Eating a banana with a peel still on. I've done the same a couple of times too haha. And wow, the concert looks really cool Karen, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Haven't listened to the band yet but they look so cool. I'll definitely look them out on YouTube ;)

Oh my, your Fonzi is probably the cutest weird (ours a little weird too hehe) dog ever. Our little troublemaker is afraid of cats too but he doesn't show it, he keeps on barking when he sees one then look at me to make them disappear hehe

    1. Figment beat Fonzi up when he first got here (not bad - but he would stalk and swat him) and Fonzi is such a gentle soul that he'd rather avoid the whole thing lol

My other dog just walks right past the cat and doesn't give him a second glance but they were raised together.

Mutemath has been around for awhile. They put on a really good show - very interactive and appreciative of fans and the audience. It was fun even though I'm exhausted.

  10. Ya know..I am thirty, and if I get home after 10 I am exhausted. All my coworkers love to go out drinking until 4 in the morning and boy I just can't do that. I totally understand how you feel though.

  12. I have totally written reviews for books I already had done. I've also called characters by the wrong names too. It happens and I'm glad I'm not the only one!
