monday minis

This week I have a batch of M/M romance minis!

Faking It  (A Ringside Romance Novel) by Christine D'Abo

Max Tremblay should be happy. His nightclub, Frantic, is one of the most popular gay clubs in Toronto, and his childhood refuge, Ringside Gym, is well on the way to reopening. But when he finds yet another drunk in the alley beside the bar, Max isn’t sure this is the life he truly wants.

Grady Barnes has it all. He’s rich, famous, and wants for nothing. Well, nothing but a good relationship with his father. When he discovers that his father is going to force him into an arranged marriage, Grady has had enough. He tracks down Max, the man who got him to safety after a night of overindulgence, and makes him a proposal: pretend to be his fiancé for two weeks and he’ll invest in Ringside Gym.

When the pair travel to Vancouver to attend a family
wedding, the flames of their mutual attraction ignite, and they discover that the only difference between pretend and reality is how well they can fake it. ~

My thoughts: I really enjoyed this!

Excellent fake fiance story, charismatic MC's, sexy, lots of humor.

My only nitpicks are - I wish the ending was fleshed out a bit more so we could see more of Max and Grady as a solid couple. And Justin the "babysitter/scandal fixer" side plot was a bit unbelievable to me. Grady did put Justin through the ringer with his bad behavior but he was so nasty to Grady. It kind of got brushed off but I wasn't buying the resolution. I'm guessing he needed to be redeemed a bit for a future book??

Definitely rec this one for a quick, sexy read and I'm going back to read the first book in the series.

34469554Autumn (Crow City #2.75) by Cole McCade

There are worse things in life than loving a man who hates you.
Unfortunately, Walford Gallifrey can’t think of many. ~

My thoughts: Despite the purple prose, metaphor filled style of writing, that I don’t enjoy, I could not tear my eyes away from the authors gut wrenching, no holds barred romance. McCade digs DEEP into the emotions of her characters and they have to work for their HEA.
Both men are so afraid of being left and the reasons are so easily overcome yet not because of how their pasts are intertwined.

I also loved her portrayal of dealing with a disability in romance. It wasn't glossed over. There were times when it was not in the cards because of the pain Joseph was in from his MS. Wally juggling both the care taking and lover roles was handled beautifully.

And both heroes were in there 40’s!

34939537Enemies Like You (Enemies with Benefits #1) by Annika Martin, Joanna Chambers

They're dangerous men. Absolute enemies. And totally hot for each other.
Will has never met anyone like Kit. He’s arrogant. Gorgeous. Lethal. The most expensive bodyguard money can buy.

And Will can’t seem to resist him.

A simple command in Kit's cut-glass accent makes Will want things he’s never wanted, do things he’s never done. Their red-hot chemistry is off the charts.

Just one problem: Will has vowed to kill the billionaire that Kit is hell-bent on protecting.

And Kit has secrets, too—his own reasons for sacrificing his soul, piece by painful piece, to keep one of the worst men on earth alive.

My thoughts: 😍 Enemies Like You was everything I love in my romance. High stakes, sexual tension, and obstacles that are so high you aren’t sure they can be overcome.

This book was 5 alarm fire hot and while sex sometimes takes away from a plot – the sex in this story was an important part of the plot. Every time Kit and Will had one of their all too brief encounters they were sexy but the level of trust and submission they gave to each other was extraordinary. And then they would go back to trying to kill each other. Good times. lol

Oh how I wish there will be more to this series and Kit And Will. They have a solid HFN but it was a tad rushed and I can totally see them having more death defying spy capers! I had SO much fun with this one. My favorite romance of 2017 so far!

*The Enemies With Benefits: a prologue is free on Kindle if you wanted to sample first. If you’re sure that you want to jump right in just get the full book since the prologue is the first 8 chapters of Enemies Like You.

  4. I'm glad you liked Faking It! I do recommend reading the first one; it's a goodie, and you might find it better to be honest (based on your "dislikes" for Faking It). I don't know Autumn but it sounds great, and my brother and a friend of mine both have MS so that interests me. I've seen Enemies Like You but yours is the first review. I NEED IT!

  6. Awesome mini reviews Karen, I love little snippet reviews. Just enough to convince me to read it but not too much information so I can discover the brilliance myself! Enemies Like You sounds super hot, looking forward to giving the prequel a read <3
