cheesetastic Christmas movie reviews

It’s that time of year again! And I’m in need of cheesy, feel good movies now more than ever. There’s a new Hallmark Christmas movie every week so I’m hoping to keep up on them and post a review each Friday. We’ll see how that goes.

I was already a few behind (they started early this year!) so I’ll start with two this week.

A Wish for Christmas- website

download (1)“Sara is the type of woman who prefers to sit on the sidelines at work, but when her big idea for a Christmas initiative is stolen, she makes a wish to Santa that she'll finally have the courage to stand up for herself. Santa grants her wish but only gives her 48 hours. Stars Lacey Chabert and Paul Greene.”

Verdict: meh…This was supposed to be about Sarah getting the courage to stand up for herself but really it just turned her into an obnoxious person who stuck her nose in everyone’s buisness and pushed them to do things before they were ready. And the romance was pretty lacking in chemistry.

Cheese factor: There’s a ball of mistletoe hanging in the office that the Christmas hating hero repeatedly orders to be taken down….I bet you can guess how the movie ends. lol This town and the hero's family has a HUGE Christmas decorating budget! It looks like a Christmas fairy threw up on their house but it was festive! lol

4 cheese

I give this one 2 out of 4 cheesy elves.

The Mistletoe Promise – website

download (2)“A chance meeting between two strangers who share a disdain for Christmas results in The Mistletoe Promise, a pact to help them navigate their holiday complications – together. But as  they spend more time with each other and experience the magic of Christmas the phony couple discovers there may be more to their contract than business. Based on the bestselling novel by Richard Paul Evans. Stars Jaime King and Luke Macfarlane.”

Verdict: Loved how these two met – eating lunch in a mall food court trying to avoid aggressive Christmas carolers. Of course they hate Christmas! lol Both are super smart and career driven but nice and I liked them.

There were some weird editing cuts and it got oddly depressing at times but overall I liked the romance so a thumbs up.

Cheese factor: Huge gorgeous, perfect flakes of snow constantly falling, horse carriage rides in Central Park, snowman building contests, old fashioned (sexist) business practices where women have to wear dresses to parties and you must have a girl friend to get promoted. Pretty standard Hallmark stuff.

4 cheese

  2. A wish... I do really like the two main actors but yeah, I wasn't feeling the love.

Mistletoe... right? Hallmark really needs to get with the times. OR at the very least have some kissing with tongue! Lol

    1. I was bummed about A Wish - I just wanted to yell at her and he barely had a personality either way.

I guess at least both of the Mistletoe peeps had careers but yeah - what was with the women having to wear dresses and act a certain way. Or have to have a guy??? As much as I enjoy the cheese factor they make me cringe sometimes. lol

  7. I tend to really only watch Hallmark films around Christmas. My mom loves them - despite knowing how they will end at all times. haha The Christmas ones are just fun because I can handle the cheese!

  8. I LOVE THESE! Those cheesy made for TV Christmas movies where you spend most of it rolling your eyes but then find yourself crying by the end because they've all found the true meaning of Christmas. A Wish For Christmas, is that the girl who used to be in Party of Five? We don't see many of these ones at Christmas here, they mainly just show the big Hollywood productions but hoping to scan the channels until I find one now. Oh please keep them coming, loved it! <3

  14. I regularly watch movies via the showbox application provided by showboxvpn. Google chrome store allows people to use this is also a utility product to help people watch movies easily today! Have you tried?

  15. Wonderful, warm, traditions adjusted for stay-at-home. I really like the idea of revisiting favorite pictures from the year and then saving them in a memory box for you and your family. We’ve been to France many times and would like to enjoy a holiday season in Paris in the not-to-distant future. Happy Holidays and a healthy new year to us all.
