Tune in Tuesday: Love Song Edition

tune-in-tuesday-love-song-edition-part-2

Tune In Tuesday is a weekly feature in which bloggers get to showcase another one of their loves, music! The feature was originally created and hosted by Ginger over at GReads! but can now be found over at Kate’s Tales of Books and Bands.

I posted I Melt with You by Modern English as one of my love song picks. It got me to thinking about what other love songs were popular when I graduated from HS. I used to go roller skating 4-6 nights a week back then and my boyfriend at the time was the disco music DJ. I’m digging up those songs that he played over & over & over for the couples skate portion of the night…sorry in advance.

Always & Forever by Heatwave – This was THE love song of my generation. If you wanted to dedicate a love song, needed a theme song for your prom or just wanted to declare your undying love – this song was it. It was my bff’s favorite song so I’ve heard it thousands of times. I HATE it. lol

I’m Wishing on a Star by Rose Royce – THE breakup/want you back love song. You could lie on your bed listening/crying in the dark with just your lava lamp for light.

I’ll Do Anything For You by Denroy Morgan – I was obsessed with this song and my boyfirned wrote all the lyrics in my Valentine’s Day card that year. Alas…I would do anything…except stay with him. Ha!

I’ll be adding more awesome (meaning – horrible/craptastic) songs from the 80’s on Facebook throughout the day. Join me there!

What were THE love songs from your high school years?

  1. I'm not familiar with any of these - I'm a child of the late 90s as far as pop culture goes.
On another note, I've been listening to London Grammar and Moby's Innocents album on Spotify. I really love them - especially the Moby album.

  2. Aw, man, the 80's were AWESOME (horrible and craptastic but AWESOME!!). I was so obsessed with music growing up, though I tended to be more of a Cure/Duran Duran with a dash of Morrissey thrown in for good measure. And who could for get partying like it was 1999?

    1. My husbands sister was Duran Duran obsessed. She met them at a concert once too.

I was more of a disco girl myself. Embarrassing…..and we won't even get into the fashion sense!

  6. Hair bands! LOL Oh and I saw Felicia's comment. I loved those as well. :) Oh and there is no excuse for anyone who says they love music to not know the more popular bands of any era. I listened to everything and I always surprise people of the music I know. So there! to anyone who says that it was before their time. LOL

  8. I tend to go back to my high school music before ever picking newer stuff. I was 90's teen and alternative rock was my favorite, but I had/have eclectic taste. I love going back to 'the good ol' days'. lol.

  10. The only one I've heard is Wishing On A Star... Man, I can't remember the last time I heard it! I love that you shared your history with these songs with us though, I can see that 80's roller rink in my mind so clearly, with the disco ball and lights and all the people skating around and the DJ playing these songs. Thanks for sharing!
