My Favorite Books of 2013 - part 2!

I posted my Favorite Books of 2013 part 1 yesterday, but I had so many books that I loved this year it wouldn't fit into one post!

This list has books I adored, books that weren't always technically a "5 star" (although some were) but gave me a reader high anyway and books by authors that are basically on my - they write it and I'll read and love it - list.

Out of Play by Nyrae Dawn, Jolene PerryGoodreads | Review Out of Play is a book that makes it to my list because of the heroine. Penny is both confident in her looks and abilities, yet insecure about her future and others expectations. I loved how the authors portrayed the choices Penny needs to make in a realistic way.

Wicked as She Wants (blud #2) by Delilah S. DawsonGoodreads | Review Fun, sexy, steampunk spin on the vampire genre.

Faking It (Losing It #2) by Cora CarmackGoodreads | Review – One of the few New Adults this year that I really enjoyed. Angst done right with a really nice hero!

Mind Games (Mind Games #1) by Kiersten WhiteGoodreads | Review This book had some major flaws but White took a lot of chances and I still enjoyed the heck out of it.

Reboot (reboot #1) by Amy TinteraGoodreads | Review A little slow at times and uneven but just a fun, action packed dystopian with a great heroine.

Anything by Laura FlorandGoodreads  Three Books from Florand’s Amour Chocolat series released in 2013 (The Chocolate Rose #3, The Chocolate Touch #4, The Chocolate Heart #5) and her novella Snow Kissed.

Ditto anything by Cara McKennaGoodreads I rarely enjoy hardcore erotica but McKenna writes characters so heartbreakingly beautiful and real that I can’t help but fall in love. In 2013 she released After Hours and Unbound

Dark Triumph (His Fair Assassin #2) by Robin LaFeversGoodreads | Review Dark Triumph was quite different and much darker than it’s predecessor, Grave Mercy, but it was oh so good!

Vicious by Victoria SchwabGoodreads | Review Really unique and understated, but truly fascinating superhero origin story.

Chasing Shadows by Swati AvasthiGoodreads | Review Avasthi writes some of the most realistic yet accessible issue based YA out there today. Chasing Shadows was powerful and poignant.

And last, but certainly not least, Shattered (Shade 3.5) by Jeri Smith-Ready which was just released - FREE on her website - on December 21st.

Shattered is a brutally honest portrayal of PTSD and a must for any fan of the Shade series.

So what we're your favorite books of 2013? Feel free to include a link in the comments if you have a post.

  3. I looked back at the other post and I do think all those are either ones I want or have loved (must have the Arcadia Bell newest... MUST). There are ones here that I don't have on my list, I do think I will add them. Oh and I NEED Dark Triumph! I loved the first and haven't read this one yet! :(

  5. I'm really loving your lists! I've read a couple of them, Manic Pixie Dreamgirl, which I loved, and Faking It, which was really fun! But I haven't heard of the majority of the books on your list and now I'll have to remedy that. They all look so interesting! Thanks for sharing!

  8. I had GoodReads open in another tab as I read this list, because I found a bunch of new books to add! I had never heard of Cara McKenna, but if you are a fan, I have to try her. Also added Out of Play, and I need to get off my butt and read Vicious and Dark Triumph. God, where does the time go.
