Sunday Ramblings….

I’ve been so busy lately (as is everyone else it seems) but I’ve been managing to get a few books read per week and even two reviews a week posted! It doesn’t sound like a lot but there were a few times there that I wasn’t sure I would be able to continue blogging because I either wasn’t reading or had absolutely NO urge to write a review after. It seems I’ve averted that crises – at least for now.

I also managed to go out in the world and catch up on movies! I used to go the Tuesday matinee (free popcorn day!) for years but now I see less than 3-4 movies per year (including DVD and TV). Pitiful life these days lol

Anyway….I saw Warm Bodies – I loved it! Very sweet and funny zombie rom com. It is also hardcore zombie lover husband approved. Although Kevin did like the *bad* zombies more than the humanized ones.

I took my dad to see Oz the Great and Powerful. It was a little too long but I enjoyed it more than I thought it would. Had quite a few laughs and fun story. 83 year old Dad approved and the kids in the audience really loved it. They were clapping at the end.

I finally watched Snow White and the Huntsman last night. Not bad. Not great – but not bad. I wasn’t really attached to any of the characters but the story moved along and the visuals were great.

On to the wrap-up! (I’m including a few weeks in here since I haven’t done a wrap-up in a while)

Reviews:
Unremembered by Jessica Brody – Not bad but I’ve read too many similar stories of late so this one wasn’t for me
Dark Triumph by Robin LaFevers – I loved Dark Triumoh more htan Grave Mercy. It’s darker and Sybella’s story is heartbreaking yet hopeful.
Mini reviews: trust in Me, Strong Enough to Love – two quick, sexy reads!
This is What Happy Looks Like by Jennifer E. Smith – I wanted to love this one….but….too sweet for me.
Mini reviews: X Marks the Scot, Lady of Pleasure, Demon's Bride – A trio of great reads

Tune in Tuesday:Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Anna Kendrick, Leagues, Night Terrors of 1927Let's call this.....eclectic

  1. I'm glad you're back on a roll w/the blog! It seems I only get to see kids movies anymore. It seems Oz was either a hit-or-miss, but looks visually stunning. I still want to see Snow White & the Huntsman, if only for Chris Hemsworth.

    1. Oz wasn't great but it wasn't awful. that's my ringing endorsement lol

I liked how it went from B&W to technicolor. It was actually kind of cheesy but I *think* that was the intention.

  3. I want to see Warm Bodies. I saw OZ and was a little disappointed, but it was a fun time. I liked Snow White very much actually...I usually hate KS, but I thought she wasn't bad in it. Maybe b/c she didn't have a lot of lines? : p

    1. I thought I was going to hate Oz so it was ok for me. Lowered expectations can be a wonderful thing lol

Same with SWatH. I didn't hate KS as much as I thought I would so it was alright. She also didn't bite her lip at all. Baby steps...
