Let’s Talk: Books? What books? I didn’t buy any books…

Let’s Talk is a fun new meme to discuss an little bit of this & a little bit of that (not always bookish) hosted by Smash Attack Reads and A Book Obsession.

This weeks question: Do you hide your book purchases from your significant other/parents/children/pet/old lady down the street? Share some good smuggling stories!

I have to say - I am one lucky lady, my husband not only doesn’t care how many books I buy but he’s an enabler. He bought me wall to wall bookshelves from Ikea (& wants to buy more). He also has a thing for singed stuff so whenever he sees books signed or that are collectables/limited editions he grabs them. He’s the one who found me signed copies of both Catching Fire and Mockingjay.

Now the one thing that has him questioning my book purchases is the .99 kindle deal. After Thanksgiving I bought SO MANY Kindle books in one week. He saw the Visa bill and the first page and a half was…..

.99
.99
2.99
.99
.99
3.99
2.99
.99
etc.….

He wasn’t upset and actually thought someone hacked our credit card lol but he was like…why did you buy so many books? So basically a dozen $20 Amazon purchases are good, overflowing bookshelves, boxes of books on the floor are ok but too many .99 book downloads and that raises red flags!

These days it’s usually me that puts a stop to my book purchases – my hubby wouldn’t mind at all.

  2. I do all the bills, so mine never knows abt the digital books. Lol. But he doesn't care as long as we can still pay for stuff like food.

  4. Ohh! You are very lucky! Sometimes I have to hide my books from my mom. She's always scolding me about buying books, she wants me to buy clothes instead. As long as I buy hundred of dollars in clothes, she wouldn't mind if I take all her money! But books.. NO! lol
For a bookworm, there is never such thing as too many books!

  5. Kevin is awesome! My hubby used to give me a hard time, saying "I know you have a hundred unread books. Why are you buying more!?" But he's started reading a lot himself, and now I think he gets it. Plus, it's a losing battle. lol
I need more book shelves. That's great that your hubby wants to buy more. I saw a picture of "under the bed" book case, and my hubby made one. It's really pretty, and uses up wasted space.

Oh! So great that Kevin buys signed books for you.

    Thanks for sharing !

  6. Cindi - My DH is good with it but yes...food takes priority. Just barely lol

Jen - Exactly! It's educational. I'm expanding my mind!

Liss - Haha that's so funny! I don't really spend much money on clothes so maybe that's why my husband doesn't care about the books. Maybe she feels clothes are more practical but I agree - there are never enough books.

Andrea - At first Kevin asked when I would find time to read them all (valid question) but he's so much worse than me about it now. he wants me to have everything lol I'm like Noooooo I have to many already! Did you ever post a picture of your under the bed book case?
