Review: (sort of) Eternal Kiss of Darkness by Jeaniene Frost

Eternal Kiss of Darkness (Night Huntress World, Book 2)
An immortal war has been brewing in the darkness...and now one woman has stumbled into the shadows.
Chicago private investigator Kira Graceling should have just kept on walking. But her sense of duty refused to let her ignore the moans of pain coming from inside a warehouse just before dawn. Suddenly she finds herself in a world she's only imagined in her worst nightmares.
At the center is Mencheres, a breathtaking Master vampire who thought he'd seen it all. Then Kira appears - this fearless, beautiful....human who braved death to rescue him. Though her burns for her, keeping Kira in his world means risking her life. Yet sending her away is unthinkable.
But with danger closing in, Mencheres must choose either the woman he craves, or embracing the darkest magic to defeat an enemy bent on his eternal destruction. (Paranormal Romance)

Review:
I love when I’m proven wrong. Well…..when it comes to books anyway. And it’s probably the only time I’ll admit that I was wrong. Which leads me to Eternal Kiss of Darkness by Jeaniene Frost - Book 2 in her Night Huntress World spinoff series. That book sat on my shelf for months! Even though people kept telling me how sexy Mencheres is and how great the book was.
I had NO interest in Mencheres’s story. Zip. Nada. To me he was an old, shriveled, ancient guy coming out of his cave just long enough to unfurl a few words of ancient vampire wisdom. Then I stumbled upon page 40…….Mencheres – pool – naked. Whoa!
I believe this is an exact quote I made on Twitter after reading about Mencheres exiting the pool.."Mencheres, not old and shriveled. Nope. Not at all." Holy crap! I am so convinced now!
But wait that’s not all! There is actually a good story to go along with the sexy. And a smart heroine!
My friend Tiger already did an excellent guest review for Eternal Kiss of Darkness for this blog here so I’m not going to bother with a long rambling review. This is for you hold outs that think you won’t like Mencheres.
Go. Read. This. Book.

  2. Glad you finally read EKOD!! Definately gives a good look at Mencheres and lets us understand him better. Won't be looking at ceilings or Disney uniforms the same way ;)!

  7. Yeah naked Mencheres! He was smokin even though I kept picturing him as being old in the Cat and Bones stories. She did a great job of sexing him up:) I loved Kira as well, she just accepted the supernatural without whining. Loved it:)

  9. Must read this book!! I too thought of Mencheres as old and shriveled. I laughed out loud when Cat called him Mr. Walks Like an Egyptian. My TBR pile is getting larger by the second. I'm with you...can't wait for Ian's book. :)
