Monday Musings...Life, Reading & Watching

Life: Nothing really exciting for last week. Still no movement on the insurance issue - but I have to give it 7-10 days before I can yell again lol Still nothing about replacing our dented refrigerator door either - there is no one from LG in our area available at the moment but they're trying to get a third party person.

On a good note - I'm still plugging along reading, visiting blogs and I drafted FOUR posts this past week! WHO AM I?

I have an EKG next week. I'm a bit nervous (about the results - not getting the EKG) and need to make a point of signing on to my Calm app. I do the Winnie-the-Pooh meditation series with Tamara Levitt lol (here's the link if you use The Calm app) I had high blood pressure for the first time in my life at my last Dr visit and need to chill out.

On that note, the sun finally came out on Sunday. It's been months since we had a full day of sun. Winters are rough on me and I can't even tell you how much it gave me a mental boost.

I'm still listening to Partners in Crime by Alisha Rai, finishing up Heartstopper Volume #4 by Alice Oseman , and started Chick Magnet by Emma Barry. - I adored Barry's Fly Me to the Moon - race to space romance series. Her books are always super romantic and smart, and I know that she raises chickens herself. I saw it was on Kindle Unlimited so I downloaded. Really cute start so *fingers crossed* it continues.

Violent Night ~Peacock Network
 - Not your mothers Saint Nick. This is ultra violent and and it's Santa doing most of the killing but...it's in the spirit of Christmas and for the children lol
Santa is drunk and disillusioned, but won't let young Trudy fall victim to a team of mercenaries that breaks into her wealthy grandmothers house on Christmas Eve.

Not for the faint of heart, and it can be uneven (plot wise) at times but dare I say? - has a nice message among all the carnage lol

And if you're in the mood for more Christmas in February - we also watched Spirited with Ryan Reynolds and Will Farrell (AppleTV) & Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special (Disney+) back in December and loved both.

If you like musicals (or even if you don't - I do not) give Schmigadoon (AppleTV) a try. I did not expect to enjoy this 1940's musical parody, starring Cicely Strong and Keegan Michael-Key, as much as I did. The (modern day) troubled couple fall into a magical town where everyone dances and tropes abound and try to do everything they can to find a way out.

That's it for now. I have more posts scheduled for later this week. And for next week. And the week after!!! Gah. Hope I don't burn out and not post again until August lol

How was your week? let me know what you're reading or watching.

  1. That insurance issue is beyond ridiculous. No wonder you showed signs of high blood pressure. Good luck with the test! Barry is new to me. I will have to check her out

  2. Three for three today! WOW!

Sorry there's been nothing positive on those two issues. I LOVED Chick Magnet so much, I hope you do too. Schmigadoon was delightful and I am looking forward to the next season.

I started watching Willow over the weekend. I loved the movie when I was teen, but didn't remember all that much. However, there is a prologue with the first episode and I recalled enough to make it work.

Good luck with the health tests. It's hard to get over "white coat syndrome" especially with things like high blood pressure. My doctor started taking it three times during the visit beginning, middle, end, to try and elevate some of the nerves. *HUGS*

    1. I never saw Willow. At least that I remember. Is it a new series? I saw the commercials but I just thought they had the old movie now for streaming.

I'm so glad someone else saw and liked Smchigadoon! It's so obscure and I had never heard of it.

I don't think I actually have high blood pressure. They just caught when I was complaining about my insurance saga lol But I also have so much going on with family and I need to be better about not letting it get to me.

  3. Best of luck with your EKG and the insurance situation! Your advance writing of blog posts is really inspiring to me-- I'm hoping to get around to writing one this week, but we'll have to see how it goes. This is my first full week of school for a new semester, so I'll have to work it around a new class schedule.

    1. Don't be inspired by me! lol This is the first time I've drafted ahead in years. And I haven't been posting for months. I'm running with it while I'm in the mood.

  4. oh I feel ya about that sunshine! As much as we need the snow here as it helps from us gettin drought in the summer and actually helps it being more comfortable in the heat, I really miss the sun this time of year. We have gone like 2 weeks without it and I am just craving it. How is that Alisha Rai? I am picky about illustrated covered books but I do have it on my TBR for Romanceopoly.

    1. It's fun so far! It has a lot of action so that's a little different and exciting.

I can't stand illustrated covers. I have no idea what the heck I'll be actually reading or if I even read it already. It's a giant blur to me.

  7. No wonder your pressure is mounting...what with all the family drama, insurance saga, and now the door incident. A third party? I mean...๐Ÿ™„ And I'm sending you all the rutabagas for your EKG...(I hope our code word still works LOL).

It's really unfortunate that you ended up moving to a place where the winters are so unrelenting ๐Ÿ’š.

Hey...I'm going to try writing a review of my own today...STOP STEALING ALL MY POSTING MOJO ๐Ÿคฃ.

  8. I hope you get good news from your tests. Reading is good. I haven't been able to read for the last few days because of some pain in my side. I saw the doctor and am just waiting on test results now.

  9. You seem to have all of my blogging and reading motivation! I'm trying but feels like things have been non-stop the past week. Glad for the break this weekend to chill and hopefully get my head in the blogging game. I think I need to start using the Calm app more so I'll try that meditation.

  10. Oh, I've missed a bunch of posts! I saw your tweet about the EKG, hopefully the results will be good. I won't watch Violent Night, but I remember seeing previews and thinking it seemed like a sorta fun idea. Schmigadoon definitely sounds fun! I don't have Apple TV, but I'll try to remember to watch it if I ever get the chance.

    1. Schmigadoon was so sweet and pure but with a modern edge.

Violent Night was very violent - as promised - but was actually kind of sweet at it's core.

I'm nervous either was about the echo. Good news is good (& I really don't want heart problems) but then what's wrong? I know you know ALLL about that kind of thing.

  11. Ironic that your medical insurance woes are probably giving you a medical issue. I hope you are doing better. ☺
