Just a little update...Life, reading, music

Still going through a few things - loved ones in a not so great situation and I'm waiting on a few medical tests results for myself. Also, dealing with technical glitches with my insurance that mean I have no access to 1/2 of the things I need for medical care, including filling RX's and messaging access to my Dr. As well as just finding out I had $150 in past co-pays going back to August that I never knew about. It's making me stabby.

One day life will be a little less chaotic and I will be chilled out enough to read and blog consistently again. Today is not that day lol But here's a quick update for now.

I've read a few things. Carrie Soto is back by Taylor Jenkins Reid and I LOVED the audio. Carrie was fierce, vulnerable and determined as she claws her way back to the top of tennis. Loved the relationship with her dad and the other women her life as well.

Started Boss Witch by Ann Aguirre and it's cute but the audio isn't working for me so I'll switch to e-book.

I'm reading Love on the Brain by Ali Hazelwood and it's funny but the plot/characters are SO similar to The Love Hypothesis that it's thrown me a bit. That was a 5 star read for me but Not sure I want an almost exact retread of it.

A few songs that I've been listening to lately.

Sick of U by BoyWithUke - I'm using the lyrics video because the official is fairly violent. This one does have lots of f-bombs though...

It's a good F-U song to those who irritate you lol

Run Away to Mars by TALK - Odd video but I think this song is so pretty and something sweet to counter the angry one above lol

That's it for now...I miss you all and I've been trying to keep up with comments on your blogs - even if it's just once a week.

I'll leave you with a little puppy pic - even though they have hogged all my blankets and are pushing my legs off the edge they are a bright spot to my day 💗

  1. Boo for the insurance woes. I hope it all gets worked out. Why are the most necessary things a struggle. I also hope all the test come back well and sending ((HUGS)). Carrie Soto was a standout book. I can now say I read a TJR book.

    1. It's SO annoying. I can't contact my Dr in any way. I went there in person because they kept refusing my refill and they made me set up an appointment - that I'll have to pay for because I already did my annual just last month. My test came out good though so yay!

I read Daisy Jones too & I liked it but I REALLY loved this one.

  2. Ug, insurance. I'm pissed at mine too. Why does every single tiny thing need to be so difficult? I'm glad you enjoyed Carrie Soto. I want to read it someday.

    1. I know right??!!! Every single thing is SO freaking difficult to do. I know it's not their fault either - they are overwhelmed but I need care and access to my Dr. That shouldn't be so hard!
I haven't loved all of Jenkin's books but the audios are first rate if you find one that clicks with you.

  3. Sorry to hear about loved ones having a hard time. I hope the situation improves soon. And the insurance issues... ugh. Insurance is frustrating on a *good* day. I thought the Carrie Soto audio was excellent. The production value for TJR's books is always top notch and i just loved Carrie's journey.

    1. Thanks Tanya. Just a lot going on at once lol The insurance situation is so ridiculous and I'm at a complete loss as to who to call to fix it anymore. I've left messages, emails had complaint ticket numbers and nothing.

Her audios are really excellent quality.

  4. I hope everything works out- thinking of you. I just went through a doctor snafu too- turns out I hadn't been there since 2019 so I was an "inactive" patient. Had no idea! I mean, isn't it good I haven't been there lol??!? But they didn't see it that way I guess haha. I had to go back and be "seen". Anywho... sounds like your situation is a little more serious though, sending lots of virtual support!

I'm reading seven Husbands by Reid.

    1. had a chest x-ray and that turned ok so whew - one thing resolved. The insurer thing is SO ridiculous. Similar to yours. I actually saw my Dr for my yearly visit just 4 weeks ago but for some reason the denied a RX refill. My app won't work and I can't contact my Dr directly but I kept talking to the Kaiser 800 number people and they said they were contacting my DR but never did. For 2 weeks! lol I had no medicine. So I just showed up in person but they made me schedule another visit just to get my damn refill. I'll have to pay for that one because I already got my free one for the year. GRRRRRR

I assume you are reading the book for that. Her audiobooks are really fantastic. They were kind of the ones that won me over tot he format.

    2. Yes they require you to come in for a refill... I'm like, do you think I don't NEED the refill suddenly magically? lol

      Crazy

Glad your x- ray turned out okay. Hope everything else works out.

I am reading it. I can see where this would be good on audio. Not my usual type of read but I liked the previous book I read of hers. Nice palate cleanser since the other book I as reading was boooooring...

  6. (Jen)... So sorry to hear things haven't improved. Sending love. I hope you get the insurance stuff straighten out soon. Some other people said that they felt Love on the Brain's plot was too similar to Love Hypothesis - I didn't see that at all. *shrugs* I did enjoy that one a lot, but not as much as the first book. Happy Thanksgiving!

    1. They are improving some but there's a lot of tense ups and downs in the way.

That's interesting that you didn't see any similarities. I still think it's cute but I was thrown a little

      Have a wonderful Thanksgiving Jen!

  8. So interesting that some authors write very similar books and others don't. I'm with you - I'd prefer mixing things up a bit!

    1. I understand it's a series about STEM and all that so there will be similarities but this is almost the exact story and characters.

  11. Hugs! Insurance companies are the worst; WORST! 😖 It's hard to do other things when stress is zapping all your focus and energy. 😔

Your photos of Kai and Ripley are always a bright spot in my day! By the way, your bookmark from Annemieke should be mailed soon. I just saw the almost finished product. She also has a family member going through some major health issues and she just got back to filling her custom orders. It should be there by Christmas, though. 🎄

Here's to a better month in December. ⛄
