Tell Me Something Tuesday (Catch-up)

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post where bloggers discuss a wide range of topics from books and blogging to life in general.

It is co-hosted by (Linda from Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell, Roberta from Offbeat YA, Jen from That’s What I’m Talking About, Berl's from Because Reading is Better than Real Life  and me)

Join in by answering this weeks question in the comments or on your own blog.

If you would like to join TMST and receive periodic emails of upcoming topics, please fill out this GOOGLE FORM. TMST is a laid back meme – join in or opt out depending on your interest in topics or schedule.

In completely unsurprising news - I've missed several weeks of TMST so I'm catching up on several topics & will hopefully jump back in next week on schedule. Honestly, I'm just feeling lazy this summer and haven't felt like blogging much but I always reach a point where I miss it and everyone so here I am!

LET'S DO THIS

July 19th: Tell us about a book that made you cry (movie if you can't remember):

I'm not a big crier so it's hard for me to remember. I know I teared up a little on the final page of  August of the Zombies . It was a bittersweet ending that I didn't really see coming and it made me happy and a little bit weepy.

But really I'm dead inside and don't cry a whole lot 😂

July 26th: Do you prefer movies or TV series?

I like both for different reasons but am not hooked on either. In Florida, we went to the movies almost every week (matinee) because it was so damn hot and it was a nice cheap way to escape the heat.

I am kind of new to binge watching. I grew up watching things week to week and it was hard for me to grasp watching something all at once. It's also hard for me to get going with it and I tend to get bored watching the same thing for hours on end. Shorter seasons and variety have changed things up and I tend to have a few shows going - we'll watch 2-3 episodes of a show at night before bed.

Movies at home are the same - if you get me going then I'm fine but it's hard for me to just flip on a movie and watch it.

Without motivation (meaning Kevin) I will watch Big Bang Theory and Bob's Burgers in syndication all night, every night forever just because it's on and I'm lazy lol

August 2nd: What is/are your favorite post/s from your blog?

No idea! I can barely remember posts I've written. I'll go with an easy (cop-out) answer and say last weeks WTF Did I Just Read reviews. They actually took me forever and were difficult to write in a way that didn't spoil anything.

  1. I used to prefer movies but with all the streaming goodness now I'm probably more on the side of shows. Although there's almost an embarassment of riches now- too MANY shows?? And I've noticed too I'm seeing tropes done over and over- bullying, certain twists... I guess too much can be a bad thing!

I like the idea of WTF Reviews, because after while as bloggers we just want to go off on certain books lol- okay maybe not really, but haha anyway I can see where they'd be tough to write though.

    1. There really is a lot now. Some nights I'll all Kevin how they're can be so many shows and I still can't find anything I feel like watching lol

I think shows/ movies are getting like books. There are so many, especially franchises, there's a lot of repetition.

    2. I scroll through Netflix and there are, like, HUNDREDS and I can't find a thing to watch :)

  2. I remember the first book that made me cry my eyes out around nine years old... Where the Red Fern Grows. 😔🙁😢

    1. I know I cried a little more when I first started reading/blogging but it takes a lot to get me going. And I am sad adverse with my reading in general.

Same here LOL. But I sometimes tear up watching series (it's rare, but it happens).

    "Without motivation (meaning Kevin)"
    😂
If I have to be honest, I hate sitcoms 🤷‍♀️. That kind of humour isn't my cup of tea...

Those reviews were awesome! All the more so because you had to tiptoe around the books.

    1. I'm not a huge sticom watcher either. I literally watch what's on due to pure laziness and those two shows are syndicated and on every night lol Although I love Bob's Burgers (it's animated).

  4. Well after 2.5 years, I finally tested positive for COVID last weekend. It has been a long, slow recovery so far, but I'm finally starting to feel well enough to start posting and commenting again. I'm so thankful to be vaccinated as I know my symptoms could have been so much worse! For now, I just have a persistent cough and fatigue. Hope you are doing well!

    1. Oh no, my husband and I got it for the first time in May. It took us 3 weeks to get past the fatigue. Hope it passes soon for you.

  5. Bittersweet endings get me every time. I always want the full on HEA, though, I can understand the whys, I sometimes want more for the characters.

    1. I'm a full on HEA girl too. I'm the above case it worked, because it was mid-grade and although a little sad, it was the right endings for each character but was sentimental.

  6. The books that made me cry the most were Acheron and Styxx by Sherrilyn Kenyon.

  7. I guess I'm dead inside too lol. Lately I mostly watch movies and shows while doing other things on the computer, otherwise I just can't bring myself to watch anything, and I lose focus in about 3 minutes.

    1. It's hard for me to get going and even harder to hold my attention. I have to watch at a certain time of day or else I'll fall asleep lol

  8. I think I like TV shows because there is a obvious place where you can stop it and pick up later. I've been known to fall asleep in theaters...

    1. I get that. I'm bad about falling asleep at home. I have to BE READY for a movie lol

  9. I'm like you. I love both book series and movie/TV series just for different reasons. :D

  10. Escaping the heat to see a movie sounds fun! They are just so bloody expensive here

    1. We have matinee's during the day where it's cheaper. That's when we went.
And right now, they're doing $5 Tuesdays with $1 popcorn.

  11. "Really I'm dead inside and don't cry a lot." LOL It takes a lot to make me full-on cry, but I do often get emotional and bit teary. I did actually cry over Reason to Believe by Rebecca Yarros recently. That woman can slay me.

    1. Ha! I was more emotional in my earlier years of blogging.

  12. From Jen: I am also playing catch up as I was on vacation for a week and then spent a week getting stuff done around the house. You are not the only one "behind." LOL
