It's a Wrap{Up}

Hoo-boy have I been in a funk the past week. I was feeling very depressed, then ragey. I guess the world is (continues to go to)  shit so it's to be expected but I really had to drag myself out of it.

You probably already heard me talk about a few of these things but this week...

* I had a dream that I walked through a door in my house (not my real house) and found a new sofa bed still wrapped in plastic and an all white room - white 3D butterfly wallpaper, white sofa, white carpet.

*I went shopping and started to get in a total strangers car and didn't even notice until I was almost sitting down and realized they had seat covers and mine are leather. I don't think anyone saw me, but I didn't even look - just made a beeline to MY actual car lol

*We had a sunny day, I was gardening outside, had all my tools and gloves strewn across the yard airing out and then it started hailing. Then stopped after 5 minutes and was sunny again. The. Weirdest. Thing. And it wasn't on the weather that night or anything.

*I made this Cheesy Tater Tot Beef Casserole - it was SO easy and customizable!

*And - not pictured - these amazing Chocolate Chipper cookies from Dessert for Two. Loaded with regular and mini chips, then rolled again in mini chips. YUM.

* It was Ripley's 2nd birthday so we took the dogs to the beach and then a hike and they had a blast. She would have preferred snow, I think, but this is what we had. lol Kai LOVED the beach.

WATCHING:

Ted Lasso - AppleTV I seriously didn't think I would like this as much as everyone else. It is majorly hyped but I did! We binged it over a weekend and I had a few small issues (SPOILER -> the way Ted handled Sam and rehiring Jamie was SO WRONG & Ted in general can be so hands off as to let harmful things happen END SPOILER but it was a delight! I loved how everyone was flawed but willing to apologize and do better. \

Finished my binge of The Good Place - Netflix. Binging probably wasn't the best idea because, it's a fun show, but it get repetitious and at a certain point I just wanted it to be over. But...I sobbed during the last episode anyway, which surprised me because I don't really cry over things and didn't feel overly attached to anyone. I think I just needed a good cry lol

Oat Studios - Netflix: "Director Neill Blomkamp (District 9, Elysium) produces a series of experimental short films that envision post-apocalyptic worlds and nightmarish scenarios"

If you're looking for something strange this give these shorts a go. It's super creepy and creative but don't expect any concrete endings or explanations for things. It's just random and sometime svery graphic but we liked it.

Now I'm watching Bridgerton - Netflix and it's ok. I'm not a huge fan of historical romance and I don't find all the rules/gossip/clothes of the time interesting but it's a light series that keeps my brain off the darker stuff going on in the world.

READING:

The Kindred by Alechia Dow - Goodreads  There's an alien race that creates kindred bonds between people of different classes (You can feel and read each others minds). Joy, a commoner, and Felix, a Duke, are kindreds and danger has them fleeing their home planet to Earth. I'm loving this book on audio! and I adore the cinnamon role goodness that it Joy and Felix.

Gone Dark by Amanda Panitch - Goodreads I'm still reading this one and haven't gotten very far. It's actually very good but I've been feeling too restless to sit and read for any length of time. It's been compared to Dry by Neal Shusterman and I'm definitely getting those dystopian/survivalist vibes.

That's it for now. I really need to write up a few reviews but no promises.

Spring is around the corner and our daffodils are blooming, the cherry blossoms and magnolias budding. I get distracted easily by plants 😄

Happy spring everyone!

  1. I'm sorry it was such a weird week. I've had those. It sounds like you handled it like a champ, even the car thing. I've done that and it's so embarrassing.

Your tater tot dish looks so yummy. I think I'm going to have to make those for my husband and me.

I finished reading The Sound of Stars this week and I'm looking forward to reading The Kindred now since they're in the same universe. :) I'm glad you're enjoying The Kindred.

    1. I'll have to check out The Sound of Stars. I'm loving The Kindred and the writing style.

The tator tot dish was so easy and you could make so many different ways depending on what you have/like.

      Have a nice weekend Jenni!

  2. The number of people that have had an 'odd' week ... for myself, now of a certain age, every week sees me lurching from depressed to raging and back again. Glad to hear your dragging yourself out of it with what sounds like some good tv/reads. For myself, having a bit of an odd time of it as far as reading goes, I've been watching/enjoying some 'rubbish' tv. Oh well! Whatever gets us through it.

    1. "for myself, now of a certain age, every week sees me lurching from depressed to raging and back again" <- this exactly! I'm usually able to pull myself out but it was a struggle this week.

I'm in the mood for nothing but fluff right now.

  4. I'm sorry it's been a crummy week and omg getting into the wrong car! I did that once with a friend's car, I have been aggressively locking my car ever since haha.

Yaay Ted Lasso! I'm working on a cross stitch of Ted and it sparks joy.

Happy spring to you, it snowed yesterday here..

  6. I've done that before- got in the wrong car. It looked just like mine but clearly wasn't ha ha when I got in.

Send some of those cookies this way!

Gone dark sounds fun. And yeah it's getting to be cherry blossom season isn't it? I need to go back to those Japanese walking tours I was watching- cherry blossom season is always nice when they tour the areas.

  10. I watched The Good Place as it came out, so I didn't have the issues you did, but the third (?) season (I forget now what happened in each season) wasn't the best. The ending, however, was perfect and made me cry.

I hope you are feeling a bit better this week. Thanks for sharing your fun happenings from the week. It does help me to share stories with others. If you want to chat, find me on Twitter!

    1. Yeah. I took a break before the last season because it was all this build up then back to square one - over & over - but in a day because I was binging lol

      I really liked it though!

I am much better this week! Thank you :-) I got out in the garden over the weekend & eating (mostly) well.

  11. Sorry it was a rough week. I can understand that. I've been having some bad moments too lately, but trying to focus on the little positives as best as I can. I'm also trying to go to sleep early when I'm able because that's always nice. :)

Too funny about the random hail!

Hope your week is off to a good start. :)

    1. I got to bed so early! If I make it too much past 8 it feels late lol

I'm sorry you're having a rough time too Lauren. I've been trying to eat better and get back on track, in general - meaning less news! social media and it's helped.

  12. I read an article about dreams several years ago that said when we dream about houses the houses are ourselves and the rooms different aspects of things we are dealing with or hoping for in our lives. I have been looking for that article again ever since my first Kindle Fire died and I lost all my bookmarks. If I ever find find it I'll give you the link. I dream about houses and rooms a lot. 🏠
