Now showing: Post Mortem, The Baker and the Beauty, The White Lotus, Only Murders in the Building

Post Mortem Netflix - Amy, the daughter of the local mortician, is discovered dead in a field in a small Norwegian town by local police, Reinhart and Judith.

But things aren't exactly as they appear. Dun dun dun....

This was one the best shows we've binged in a long time. It's got a little bit of everything - thrills, chills, humor, twists. It's part horror, part dark comedy and part police procedural. The first ep is a little slow as the foundation is laid out but after that it's a great little show full of surprises. Go in to this one knowing as little as possible if you can.  👍👍

The Baker and the Beauty Netflix - This series is my weekly virtual date watch with my friend Jen (something we started during the lockdown). A baker from a family run shop strikes up a relationship with an international model and businesswoman after a very public proposal goes wrong.

This has the highs and lows that always accompany these kinds of shows. Sometimes it's over the top or frustrating but mostly it's a really cute show. It was originally on network television and got cancelled so here's hoping we don't end on a major cliffhanger. 😍

The White Lotus HBOMax - Horrible people are horrible. I think the show did a great job portraying rich (mostly white) people traipsing into an idyllic setting and obliviously wreaking havoc on locals and hotel staff. But the people were awful and the show so one sided - particularly regarding the locals - the Hawaiians. They were a mere afterthoughts in this show, barely given screen time, even though they bore the brunt of the offenses.

If it had been more balanced, I would have enjoyed it more. 😡

Only Murders in the Building Hulu - Three neighbors from different walks of life and generations join forces to solve a murder in their New York City apartment building.

The cast - Steve Martin, Martin Short and Selena Gomez have great chemistry and the pacing is great - weaving in flashbacks, clues and wacky neighbors together effortlessly. We've only watched a few episodes so far but I'm hoping to get back to it this weekend. 👌 so far!

    1. I'm so glad you liked it!! I thought you would.

As you know, mysteries aren't really my thing but they are kind delightful all together and there seem to be a few twists ahead.

    2. Steve Martin and Martin Short remind me of that show they were in in the 80's... drawing a blank on the name but I haven't seen either of them in anything lately so I'm curious...

    3. I had to look that up because I didn't know they worked together but it was Three Amigos and the Father of the Bride movies. And a 2018 Netflix special.

I guess I was thinking back to the SNL days and thought they were together then but they weren't.

  7. Of these I've only been watching Only Murders in the Building. I've fallen a little behind but of the episodes I've seen it's great. I can tell it's going to be a really fun watch, but with the cast how could it not be?
