Music...Boston, Lo-Fang

One of the best things about living where I do now is that every single town has an outdoor summer concert series. My town does it on Wednesday nights, one town over is Thursdays, the other direction on Tuesdays. The next night is usually movie night with big, inflatable screens, showing older family friendly films. It's really fun and just the cutest thing. I didn't think actual small town America was a thing that still existed lol

The music varies from local bands to a lot of cover bands or pop music from the 70's, 80's, 90's.

Our first one this year was a Boston cover band and I'm always surprised by how I remember the lyrics even after not hearing the songs in decades.

Boston: More Than a Feeling

So, this is bit of a odd little song that I heard watching my nieces dance competition in June. I really love the lyrics.

Confusing Happiness by Lo-Fang

"I want this
A confusing happiness
Never knowing what comes next
I want this
All the agony and bliss
From confusing happiness"

  1. I love Boston! A cover band would be so fun to see (or hear!). Their songs are some of my favorites to sing in the car. :-)

    1. I loved them back in the day! I hear more *older* music since I moved here because everything is tribute bands lol

  2. Oh man, that Boston song takes me back. :) Music from the 70's-80's was totally my era. (The 90's were such a major downer for music for me. LOL) The Lo-Fang song really isn't my thing but it definitely has a unique vibe.

    1. I was more disco, and obscure disco - because my boyfriend at the time was a DJ at a roller skating rink lol, but Kevin was rock so we sort of met in the middle when we started dating in the 80's.

I first heard the Lo-fang song with a ballet routine and I think that really changes it seeing someone move to it.

    3. Tell me you skated around with a brush or comb in your back jeans pockets. I mean, all the cool girls did that. LOL

    4. I don't remember but I don't think so? My boyfriend did always carry a brush with him though lol I did have very puffy sleeves and padded shoulders though, Farrah hair and those string headbands that you wore around your forehead *cringe* haha

  3. My town does oldies in the summer. It's way too hot to go though. LOL. I can't wait to go to my first concert since 2019 next month. I know Boston, but I was never a big fan. My 70s music listening was largely influenced by my parents though. Lots of Yacht Rock and whatnot

    1. I need to bring a blanket to mine! lol We are warmish but we live near the Columbia Rover and the wind blows through in the afternoons and it's so nice.

What is 70's yacht rock? I was more of a disco girl back then lol

    2. One word. Ambrosia. That totally exemplifies 70's yacht rock to me lmao.

    1. I literally don't have time to get to every concert/movie out here. There's one in every town almost every night of the week. And a few classical or opera during the day at lunch whish is nice for workers looking to chill.

    1. I had gone to so many new band concerts in FL that I was kind of a snob thinking about the summer concerts out here but most are awesome!

Tonight is a dance one. We saw them at Squirrel Fest last year and they were seriously one of the best shows I've been to.

  7. Where you live sounds so great. I love cover bands, and movie nights in the park! A lot of them around me are on weeknights though and I really do wish they were on Fridays at the very least, so I could go to them!

    1. Ours are during the week too. Luckily, at least 3 of them are very close. One 5 minutes, the other 2 15 minutes away so not too bad.

The movie nights are tough for me. They don't start until 9pm and I'm usually in bed by then lol

    1. Thank you! I totally thought of you with the Lo-Fang song lol

We seem to be the only 2 that like it. The ballet routine the boy did to it was beautiful.
