Question: What is your blog hopping strategy?

Answer: Like most other things with my blogging - I'm very low key about blog hopping. I have a list of bookmarks and usually have time early in the morning for visiting.

I start from the top - go about 1/2 way down, then hit up the other half later or the next day. Some days I get wild and start from the bottom and work my way up lol

I follow people using subscription services but mostly to help with their numbers. I don't really like using them though. I have my set list of regulars and then find posts to check out via Twitter or comments on other mine or other people's blogs.

What is your blog hopping strategy?

  1. When I remember to go on Feedly, I scroll through my subscriptions, but comment pretty rarely. It makes me feel guilty, but blog hoping is not what I do consistently. I will comment on someone who commented on my blog, but random comments are rare.🙄

  3. I definitely subscribe to more blogs than I visit, but things are better with Feedly keeping me organized.

    1. I subscribe to help people out but my drop down bookmark list is the easiest for me.

  4. I don't really have a strategy. I follow most people on Bloglovin so I try and keep up with those as much as I can. I try and get back to people who comment on my blog, and then I have collections of blogs I like in other places. It's hit or miss when I get to those. I do take a lot of time to read and comment on blogs because I appreciate it when I get comments and it makes blogging fun, but it's definitely something that takes time so I do what I can when I can.

    1. I'm SO bad lately about commenting. It's the one thing I kept up on no matter how I was personally blogging but I just get distracted by other things now.

    1. Ha! Mine are alphabetical so I just pick a group of letters and work from there.

  6. I definitely have slacked a bit during the pandemic haha. Recently I've used bloglovin to see all the latest posts from the blogs I mostly like to read. I open new tabs on a window for each and try to work through them whenever I have a spare moment throughout my day.

SO wild! 😂 But Blodeuedd above has a point LOL.

I scroll through my Blogger reading list or get notifications via email (or find interesting post via Twitter/other bloggers' posts and comments), then I add those posts to my favourite lists, comment when I have time and then delete them. I rarely comment on the spot, at least if I know that I have a lot to say, because I mostly go through my posts in the morning, which is a busy time. I mostly comment at night or during the weekends.

  8. I appreciate you visiting mine! I initially had a system like yours; later I started following too many blogs to keep track so I use Bloglovin. Recently, as you probably know, blogs have been disappearing so I've returned to my initial practice of visiting my friends' blogs whom I know by heart.

    1. Yes! So many of my favorites have left. I haven't counted recently, but I think I have 20-ish regular blogs I follow and then the rest are impulse visits - either returning comments or an interesting link someone shared.

  9. I have a smaller group now, so sometimes, I can easily knock them off if I'm not days behind.

    1. It's the days behind thing that's a problem now lol I used to be better at commenting than blogging but I now fail at all lol

  10. I primarily use Feedly, but find posts via Twitter, as well. Or sometimes when new folks comment on my posts.

    1. Basically the same - other than me using the favorites bar instead of feedly.

  11. I try to follow people on Bloglovin just for simplicity. And it keeps everything together. I have a few random blogs that I had to subscribe to via email but it's not my preference. Clutters up my inbox. :) I used to be so obsessive about commenting on every single post but I had to just let that go. And realized that I just can't keep up with that. Now I visit and reply as I can, and comment when I have something to add.

    1. I use the bookmark bar but I'm where you're at now.

I was pretty obsessive about commenting. Even over blogging but now I get to it when I get to it lol But I do try make an effort because I enjoy seeing what everyone is up too.

It's more my distracted brain than lack of interest.

  12. My "strategy" is like my blogging in general- haphazard, messy, and unorganized 😂 I TRY, I really do! But I just suck at it lately. I feel like with the kids staying up later and later, I have less and less time, and it's really hit me in terms of blogging/blog hopping. I don't have any one subscription that *everyone* uses, you know? So I have to kind of hope for the best, and hope I don't miss anyone for *too* long hah.

    1. I hear ya!

Even during my worst posting phases, I was still good at visiting blogs but now I barely make it to the computer some days lol

  13. I have a list of blogs set up in a folder on my bookmarks bar. I open all 61 bookmarks and make my way through all of them. Closing each tab as I make a comment. If I see any interesting blog posts on Twitter I go look at those too.

  14. I also only do the subscribe thing to help with their numbers. 😊 I have no strategy. Ha ha. I have my blog hopper page with the links to the blogs I visit most often, then there are the bloggers I follow on Twitter who post their links and if I see something interesting I'll hop over. Sometimes I'll see links to extended reviews on Goodreads and Instagram and visit. I also do commenting back. 😃
