Tell Me Something Tuesday

Tell Me Something Tuesday is hosted by Rainy Day Ramblings and discusses a wide range of topics from books to blogging.

Question: Why do you read blog posts?

Answer: After 10 years, reading posts is so routine to me that I wouldn't know how NOT to do it. I've started taking weekends off (from the entire internet/social media - not just blogs) but I start missing everyone by Monday.

I, of course, get great book recommendations and like talking about books - but it's more than that for me at this point. You all feel like friends and I want to know how you're doing, what you did over the weekend and all that good stuff. (& vent about my own crap hehe)

This is how my introverted self likes to *hang out* lol Virtually....

Why do YOU read blog posts?

  1. My answer is, more or less, the same. Also, through your posts I get to live vicariously, which in my situation is always a plus πŸ˜‰. And most of you guys are really funny, or have these wild adventures, or get stuck in public restrooms, so at least I can have a good laugh 😜. (Sorry!).

    1. I suffer so you laugh lol

Although, as much as I would like to make you laugh, I hope to keep the bathroom adventures to 0. Ha!

  2. Well, book reviews, book reccs -- which hurts my wallet tremendously. Lol.

    1. I do love reading book reviews and discussing books but I rarely buy books because of them anymore. I think that's more about me being more discriminating while I whittle down my TBR.
It's changing a bit because of the library and audio now though. I'm more willing to give something a try before buying.

  3. Yes!! I love the book recommendations and reading reviews but I just love the community of book bloggers! Everyone is so supportive of each other and it's so fun just to share our love of reading!

    1. I think I would still follow all of my blogger friends even if they stopped talking about books.
Books are what drew me to them (& I feel like there's an automatic kinship because of them) but I follow blogs more for their voice and I genuinely like them and what they have to say about all kinds of things.

    1. It's this weird little community of people who *get you* that you can't find anywhere else.

  7. Isn't that weird? Haha I find that if I go a few days without blog hopping I kinda miss the visiting too. And you're right- at this point many of my stops feel like visiting friends. :)

    1. I've enjoyed taking the weekends off - but it's mostly news and social media I'm trying to avoid - so I miss bloggers by Monday.

  8. That seems like an odd question, I can't imagine anyone reading them simply because they felt they were being forced to. Bit weird. I love visiting blogs, especially after the weekends to see what others have been up to. I love hearing about what blogging friends have done or how they've dressed up their floofies. I'll often read but not comment but I've made the effort to make sure I comment as well this year as much as I can to show appreciation. I've been doing it so long as well that I couldn't be without it now either.

    1. I took it to mean - what do you get out of it or do you read for reviews or whatever.

I have my core group that I visit almost every day and comment on and then try to visit a few new ones every week.

  9. I love this! It really is part of my daily routine too. I am a fan of checking in with the people I have built relationships with, and when I know someone visits me, it helps me feel like I am not shouting into the void, so I like to give that sort of support too. I definitely come for bookish thoughts, and I like to gather intel on as many books as possible.

    1. I don't have many books in common with most of the bloggers I follow but I still love reading everyone's reviews and will take a chance on a book because of them.

The comments really help to make all that formatting worth it lol

  10. I love reading blog and catching up with all my book buddies as well. I would miss everyone if I quit blogging. I am worried about juggling blogging with my job and kids but I am sure I can make it work.

    1. I've had to cut back recently - time wise and occasionally for my mental health - but I try to check in with everyone a few times per week.

  11. I read blogs for the same reasons. So many bloggers have become friends, and I love to see their photos and hear about what's going on in their lives, and then there is seeing all the books I didn't know about, and adding them to my gigantic TBR. Ha ha. 😁

    1. Ha! It's weird but I don't add to my TBR much anymore. But I was laser focused at getting it down so that might change now that it is.

  12. For me it's about seeing what my blogger friends have been doing and checking out their reviews for ideas on other books to read. I'm no longer in contact with any of my friends in the real world so other than my dad, you guys are all I have and I enjoy keeping in touch with you all!

  13. I love reading blogs - and not just book blogs. I like getting recommendations, of course, but I also just like catching up with people. It's fun to get to know people, and check in with friends.

  16. Aww I love that when you don't read blogs you miss it! I love doing it, but I also don't miss it when I don't do it? So I don't know what that makes me lol

  17. That's so sweet. I'm a little different, reading blog posts is never a chore but finding the time to do is. I seriously don't have enough hours in my day. I do feel like I''m missing out on everything when I do have a few days away from reading blog posts. So much happens in just a few days and I feel like I've missed out somehow, even if it's just reading a review or whatever.

    1. I have a core group that I visit every day and luckily most of them don't post more than 3 days per week lol

  18. I agree that I miss people. I want to know what they've been doing and what's been going on. You do get to know people a bit (and some a lot!) through blogging and it'd be weird to just stop 'talking' to them.

I like reading blog posts because I'm nosy, I think. I like to know what people are doing, what people think about stuff, what people are reading... That's why I hate the heavy 'influencer' blogs when I branch out of the book blogosphere. They always have an angle and always seem to be peddling something and I struggle to find any that I actually like or trust. They seem so fake. :(

    1. I only follow one lifestyle blog and that's because she's so open and honest - even if she doesn't like something.

I love pretty pictures and all that but I don't like when everything is staged and only happy happy, positive all the time! Because that's just not reality.
