My Monday Musings…

I am SO tired. I had an exciting 3 days - a concert in the park, a movie in the park, getting stuck in park bathrooms and Squirrel Fest – BE JEALOUS of my life! lol

Thursday night was the last of the Lake Sacajawea concert in the park series & we brought Fonzi. I made a picnic every week and the music has mostly been cover bands (The Cars, Neil Diamond) and party music (70’s, 80’s Top 40 hits) So much fun! Everyone gets up and dances, kids are running around playing and it’s the sweetest thing ever.

Friday night was a movie in the park. You can bring food, blankets, sleeping bags, wear pj’s & at dusk the movie starts. People get super inventive with seating - like these cardboard box/duct tape movie seats! This week was Mary Poppins Returns and this week is the last movie – Spiderman Enter the Spiderverse – which I LOVED! Can’t wait.

Then Saturday we went to Vancouver for the Farmers Market. They had a car show going on, We had brunch and bought the best slice of German Chocolate Cake from Bleu Door Bakery, found this adorable Harry Potter window display at Dickens Children’s books & Publishing Lab. It was closed but I can’t wait to go back when it’s open.

And…I got stuck in a public bathroom in the park. I locked the top lock and, apparently, that was the wrong lock. I couldn’t turn it back to open (it was a deadbolt style lock). A homeless man (who has obviously had to save other people) used Kevin’s pocket knife to get me out. It was a really long 5 minutes. It was steamy in there lol Thank God for people writing on the walls so I had a distraction. I am super claustrophobic and get panic attacks so that could have gone really bad if that guy hadn’t found me and helped.

So later that day, at Squirrel Fest – that requires a separate post lol – I went into the bathroom and immediately locked the bottom lock because no way am I ever locking the top lock again and see this – TWICE IN ONE DAY!!!

a) Why do all bathrooms in WA have two locks?
b) If they’re broke why don’t you fix or remove them?
c) At the very least cover them so I WILL NOT LOCK MYSELF IN

At least this one seemed to be an easy one and I got myself out so whew!

I didn’t drink anything the rest of the night because I refuse to have to pee when I’m out anymore lol

Reading!

I need to recover from all that activity and I’m listening to The Right Swipe by Alisha Rai

    😂

Admit it - you're living the life more than when you were in FL! Also, with less heat.

    1. It's really funny how people perceive my life right now. There are a lot of things that I love out here but also things I hate - and I've cried myself to sleep so many times since moving. And I loved a lot of things about FL.
I think the PNW has the mountains and nature vs the reputation of heat in FL so it automatically seems better to everyone.

    2. I think it's more because you're posting so many beautiful pics and talking about your outings with such enthusiasm, that we're lead to think that you're having more fun than you used to. Cried yourself to sleep? Oh no. I can assure you that you're in a much better spot than I am and can ever hope to be, for so many reasons. Think positive! 😘

  3. You are living your best summer life! I can only imagine the scene of Kevin anxiously awaiting for you to get out of the bathroom while the dude worked the door with a switch blade. 🤣

    1. The summers are spectacular out here!!

Kevin didn't even know I was stuck - he was off wandering until he saw a guy trying to break my door down lol

  4. Oh gosh. Thank goodness the homeless man was there to rescue you. Getting stuck in a public bathroom would be creepy! I am glad you are getting out an enjoying all that the Pacific NW has to offer in the summer. I haven’t yet gone to a movie in the park, but we have done the concerts and farmers markets and all that.

    1. He's gotten a few people out lol

You'll have to give me tips for getting through my first winter. Ha! I loved FL winters.

I've only been to the one movie and hopefully this week. It's really hard for me stay awake and go out that late :-)

  5. That concert and movie in the park series sounds so fun. Squirrelfest- just makes me laugh and that was before your bathroom story. I would be traumatized too. Yay for an unexpected hero. :)

    Have a good week, Karen!

  6. Wow! That's a packed few days, but it sounds like it was lot of fun (minus the getting trapped in the bathroom part). Your dog is so photogenic. I wish I looked that good in pictures.

    1. I was exhausted lol I'm too old for this level of activity.
He's the most photogenic dog I've ever owned. And I've had 3 other shelties.

  7. Wow you had some interesting times in those bathrooms! Glad you got out okay though, that would not be a pleasant place to be stuck for any length of time! And Squirrel Fest? Yes, I'm curious. :) Those picnic/ concerts sound awesome though. You guys really picked a neat area sounds like!

I love movies in the park. There's a place up north of us where we vacation that has a huge inflatable screen in the summer... it's a fun way to hang out. :)

    The car show looks awesome!

That was the first movie I saw even though they do it every week. It's so hard for me to go out that late lol

  9. That window display is SO freaking cute. And those types of vintage car shows are always interesting to lurk around at. It feels like at every corner, you're in a different decade. The town I grew up in has those types of shows every Thursday in the summer. Dannng, that sounds SO stressful getting stuck in that public bathroom but I'm glad you weren't in there for any longer!!

Hope you're enjoying The Right Swipe. Happy reading!

    1. There are SO many car shows around here!! I've been told it's because the winters are so rainy and horrible - so people work on their cars all winter and show them off all summer.
The bathroom was steamy and yucky!! 5 minutes too long! lol

  10. I would've enjoyed that thing in the park as I love 70's and 80's music. I listen to that more than anything as I grew up in that era! Fonzi always looks gorgeous with that clean shiny fur...so soft! I so hate public bathrooms as you never quite know what you are going to face!

    1. Yeah - that's my music too. It's surprising how all the words come right back to you!

i am terrified to pee away from home now! lol

  11. YOU HAVE BEEN BUSYYYY. My gosh. I'm exhausted by the time Sunday rolls around and that's with me staying at home with the chores for company. Lol. Lammeee. I have not seen an outdoor film before. I don't know if we have them in the city.

    1. Oh man! I am NOT this active a person and it wiped me out lol

I've never seen an outdoor movie either (except for the drive-in when I was a kid). They have them at a few small towns around here. It's so cute!

  12. Seems like you spent a lot of time at the park and it sounds like fun. I'm jealous you can watch Spiderman Into the Spiderverse at the park though! That sounds like so much fun. We don't really have anything similar here, but occasionally the zoo and castle do movie nights so you can watch a movie at a castle.

    1. I loved that Spiderman movie and I'm really looking forward to watching it outside Friday!

The zoo movie nights sound awesome!!

  13. Oh gosh, I'm sorry you got stuck TWICE but at least the second time was easier to get out. I'd be freaking out. LOL Those outdoor bathrooms really are steamy too. I love that you did a bunch of music and movies in the park - I love this! Spider-Man: Into the Spiderverse is an awesome movie so enjoy that one! I can't wait to hear about the Squirrel festival. And that harry potter window display is awesome.

    1. I didn't think of it too much at first but now I realize EVERY bathroom out here has two locks. WHY????

I have a few more pics to take for context in the squirrel post but then I explain all!!! Hahahaha

  15. OMG I'm so sorry you got stuck in a public restroom! That is also totally something I would do... and have a panic attack inside waiting for someone to get me out. Thank goodness there was someone nearby who probably had to do that a lot that day. What a weird lock system!

SQUIRREL FEST. I have so many questions. But mostly I love that your town has a festival to celebrate squirrelfriends, lol.

What a fun weekend--you had me at German bakery!

  16. A picnic, a park, and live music sounds so perfect. The homeless guy who saved you from the locked bathroom with a borrowed pocketknife sounds like the start of an episode of a TV show. You would be credited as Woman In Toilet. LOL (Side note: I think I would not have handled it so well. Confined spaces = panic.) I am looking forward to Squirrel Fest!!

  17. I'm feeling a little bit jealous of your life, lol. That all sounds amazing! Well, not the bathroom stuff (I'm with you on that, why two locks?!) but the rest? Awesome.
