My Monday Musings

Since I’m down to under 50 books on my TBR pile (WHOOP!!) it frees up some time to try a few other bookish things.

Dog Days of Summer Celebration – hosted by La La in the Library & Jo’s Book club
The goal is to read as many dog related books during the month of August. There are giveaways, an IG BINGO challenge and lots of fun posts.

I don’t know exactly what I’ll be reading for this but – DOG DAYS OF SUMMER – I mean – I had to join in right??

I’m also hoping to tie this in with my library challenge below.

I’m joining in with Cornerfolds 10 day event indie book event (September 1–10th) hosted by Tracey from Cornerfolds

I’ll be using it to clear the Angelfall trilogy off my shelf. I have the whole series and even started it last year but keep losing track some how. I’m also hoping to add 1 or two other posts for the event as well.

There will also be mini challenges, a treasure hunt, and giveaways. There are no set books you need to read – you can read any indie book you want! but there are participating authors (with books available on Hoopla, KU and even a few review copies.

You can also write a variety of posts styles - reviews, lists, host a challenge! There’s still time to join in so contact Tracey if you’re interested.

2019 Library Love Challenge – Hosted by Angel’s Guilty Pleasure #LibraryLoveChallenge

As most of you know, the majority of my reading is from the library now. A HUGE change for me since it used to be ZERO. So I decided to join in with Angel’s library love challenge. I’ve already read about 25-30 library books but I didn’t keep track that well so I’ll start with August and pick the Overdrive Junkie – 36 books level

You can sign up at any time – and earn entries for giveaways with reviews.

  1. I can't bear books where the dog dies! It's too upsetting! I worry about the dog in every book I read!

šŸ˜‚ Of course! We should free poor dogs from having to die to keep the story going. Let's start a movement!

Good luck with your challenges - I hope you find some indie to appreciate (recs? you know I have a blog full of them LOL).

    1. I know. I've been searching all weekend but haven't found anything I want to read yet. I also hate books about "awful" dogs that are supposed to be funny because I've trained dogs and it's usually the owners fault. Not a bad dog. lol

  6. That is awesome that you are so caught up on your TBR. I am getting closer with mine. I read so many books from the library these days, it really helps alleviate the pressure! No challenges for me, I am trying to coast through to the end of the summer and blog ahead.

  8. Good luck with all the challenges. Dog books are tough for me, because the author's always seem to kill the dog. I have trust issues now.

    1. AGREED. I'm thinking graphic novels or childrens books with dogs. They're shorter and, hopefully, happier.

I don't even participate with my OWN challenge very well, so. What a mess I am hahha.

  11. The only dog book I can think of is Marley and Me... or maybe you should read books that have a prominent pet character in which case I can think of a couple of Jennifer Crusie books to read. This is actually really hard but I wish you all the luck with that challenge. I kind of want to do a reading challenge to help motivate me to read maybe I'll try that next month find a good September one.

    1. Yeah, I'm thinking books as a side thing or children's books. It's hard to find ones that aren't sad. Craig and Fred was a really good one though!

  12. I feel like so many dog books are sad...lol Do you like cozy mysteries? I know there are some that are dog themed! Yay for using your library more. I love getting books from mine, and I'm in a library led book club too. :)

    1. I suck at challenges so I don't do them other than GR's but since I have soem wiggle room now I thought I'd try.

The library one is like the GR's one though - I'm already doing it so why not count them lol

  15. Good luck with the new goodreads goal!
I love the idea of the indie books challenge but I'm challenged out. I need to focus on the annual ones I joined back in January... I'm falling so far behind them but at least I'm bossing my goodreads. :)
