My Monday Musings…

I’m back!

We survived the drive from Florida to Washington – or more importantly – Figment survived (with the help of gabapentin – I highly recommend the stuff for cats).

We’re in our new place and unpacking is going to take a loooong time and I don’t have room in the new place for all our stuff. *cries* But this should be temporary and I’m just going to leave some stuff packed and roll with it for now.

I really miss my house & it's been a huge adjustment but have found a few fun things around here. There are several good restaurants, a gorgeous park with 6 miles of trails to walk, and this pretty spot behind our house where I can take Fonzi in the morning. There are a lot of birds (& very noisy frogs/crickets at night).

The first (& only) boxes of books I've unpacked so far just happened to be my arc’s so that was a lucky find. I haven’t read in almost a month so it will be awhile before I post any reviews but I’ll try to get something up and running this or next week.

So what have I missed? What are y’all reading? Link any posts in the comments that you think need some commenting love since I’ve only made the rounds 2-3 times the past few weeks.

  1. I'm so glad you guys made it there safely! Moving is always an adjustment for us. I'm sure having to deal with the Washington weather is going to be the toughest thing for you. Especially since FL is always so sunny and warm (except during hurricane season). LoL

    1. We're renting right now but hope to buy if we like it here. (Or move if we don't lol) Just waiting for our place to sell. We had an offer so *fingers crossed* it goes through.

  3. Glad to hear the move went well. I wouldn't unpack everything either, if I knew I was not staying for good. I hate packing and unpacking and moving. At least you have your ARCs. Nice pull.

    1. There's really no point in unpacking my keeper books. I'm not reading them and I'll just have to repack. And I just don't have the room at this place.

  4. That looks like an awesome open area behind your house! I can only imagine all the cricket/ frog song that will come from that area. :) At least you can commune with nature haha, right? Seriously though glad you guys made it- I saw your updates on Twitter from time to time and was crossing my fingers for smooth sailing with your cat! Must be a good feeling to be done with THAT drive!

Hope you have an awesome week and settle in well. :)

  5. Yay you all survived! That's awesome that you've already found some good places for different things nearby :-) And how perfect that you've already found your box of ARCs!

    1. I think we'll be moving to something more permanent within the year so it seems a waste to unpack things I won't be using right away.

  9. So glad you made it. That's funny, I take Gabapentin for restless leg syndrome and diabetic neuropathy.

    1. They just started using it in cats for stress and it works so well. It calms them down without knocking them out. He was just a chiller version of himself.

  10. Glad the loooong drive went well. I kept tabs on you on Instagram. :) Nice on unpacking the arcs - you must have had a sixth sense. I'm all for taking time on unpacking. We moved last September and I *still* have a couple boxes shoved in the guest room that I am pretending aren't there. LOL

    1. I think I'm about 1/2 way with the unpacking. I really have no place to put everything here though so I'm just going to stuff most of it in a spare bedroom lol

  11. Oh I am SO glad that you are there! I feel you with the packing- 3 weeks later and mine are still more packed than unpacked- funny enough though most of my books ARE unpacked because #Priorities 😂 Though I get rage-filled when I can't find my stuff. At least 1/3 of it is still at my parents' house, in their garage. It's mostly crap I don't need but several important boxes have ended up there... but how to tell WHICH!? We should just have a Moving Sucks club and complain about it forever. It looks SO pretty though! And I am glad that you have already found restaurants and stuff, that is awesome!! I hope it gets easier soon ♥♥♥

    1. Yessss! We need a club lol

My problem is that this is a much smaller place (It's temporary) than where I came from so I can't unpack the crap stuff. I have bookshelves in the hallway lol

I figure the biggest part - the drive - is over so I'm going to try to relax about it. *TRY*

  15. I've been on hiatus from blogging but I've managed to schedule some posts in advance so yay! And also yay for you making it to Washington! We're hoping our turn will come soon. My sister really wants us there before the holidays. We wish we were there last year lol.

  16. So glad you guys survived the long haul with the little ones, I've been following on Instagram and you could write a children's book about the move. How have they settled in? It won't be long until you find your feet again. I really struggled when we moved from inner city to an urban rural area and hated it for a solid year and now, I honestly wouldn't want to live anywhere else. Oh the adventures you'll have Karen!

  17. It's an adjustment for sure - but I'm finding the things/places I like so it's not awful.

Fonzi is doing well - Figment is....Figment lol I've resorted to bribery to get him out of hiding. HE doesn't trust me anymore since I drugged and crated him everyday for a week Hahahaha

  18. I'm so glad that you all survived the move! Think how much better you'll feel once everything is unpacked and you are relaxing in your new space! I wish it was me settling into a new home!

  19. Ah, I think keeping some things boxed up sounds like a good idea. I hope you will be able to adjust and get back into reading slowly. Ease your way in!

  20. Yay for getting there safely! It'll take a bit but you'll settle in and love it I'm betting. Ooo gabapentin. That was not a good one here. Cleo got put on .25 of it and it knocked her down for DAYS. We're trying .1 next time to hopefully not knock her down. lol
