TBB Asks–Keep Me Entertained

keep me Entertained

Book(s) you have read multiple times: I haven’t re-read a book in years. Too many TBR books and new ones to keep up with. This is something I’m making time for in 2019 though! Anyway – back in the day I read and re-read the Sookie Stackhouse novels (1-4) several times PER week, along with Jeanine Frost’s Night Huntress series and Jeri Smith-Ready’s WVMP vampire series. I detect a theme lol I was going through a vampire phase.

Favorite book/author of all time: I’m not a big *favorites* person but Jeri Smith-Ready. She writes in a lot of different genres – UF, fantasy, NA contemporary, YA sci-fi and I love when an author can do that well. And because she reignited my love of music with her WVMP Radio series. Full disclosure – she’s also become a personal friend and I beta read for her – but I felt that before this all happened.

Ann Aguirre, for similar reasons – she keeps mixing up the genres she writes in and her Sirantha Jax series brought me to the sci-fi romance genre and her dystopian Razorland trilogy is one of my faves. Again – I want to disclose that we have become (online friends and I beta read for her)

I also will pretty much read anything Annabeth Albert, Stacey Kade and Tammara Webber write.

Favorite TV show to binge: Not a big binge watcher but my husband and I set aside everything when a new season of Stranger Things drops.

Favorite new-ish TV show: This is not a new show but S5 just startedSchitt’s Creek. They just added seasons 1-4 to Netflix and now everyone is giving it the attention it deserves (yay!) but I've been watching since the start. The characters were HORRIBLE at first but it’s evolved to such a sweet, nuanced show.

Favorite movie of all time: Again…not a big *favorite* person but I do love when Clueless or Shaun of the Dead pop up – but I don’t actually go through the effort to put on a movie to watch over and over.

Movie you are looking forward to watching: Ummmm… I try to see a little of everything when I can but I can’t think of one specific movie I’m dying to see. I don’t  really look ahead. The new Lego movie looks cute, The new MIB but only because of Tessa Thompson.

First concert you attended: Prince!

Ultimate concert (even if it can’t happen): I’ve been to so many amazing shows the past few years but can you really beat an over 3 hour Prince show back in the Purple Rain days as your FIRST concert?? I don’t think so.

Favorite music artist/band: Currently... Twenty One Pilots – their songs really resonate with me. I also love Leon Bridges and Janelle Monae

How do you listen? Alt Nation on Sirius, Spotify and I get a HD music station on Dish and that’s how I discover quite a bit of my new music.

How do you keep entertained?

  1. I often find myself re-reading some Christina Lauren and Penny Reid books lately. I know I haven't got the time for re-reads but I just can't resist!

    1. I often listen to relaxing music every evening. I know many types of music and like to play instruments. There are many genres of music here and I want to share it with you in this article.

  2. I'm going to make time for it this year!! I spent 2 years bashing down that backlog/TBR pile so this year is for fun reading!

  3. I watched ep 1 of Schitts and eh. I know it gets better but what if it does not. I have no time for tv, sobs!

    1. It does! It's so low budget and takes a bit to find it's legs. The first few eps are just shallow people whining. lol

  4. Man RIP Prince. I've never heard of Schitts Creek but it sounds like a comedy???

I also can't wait for Tessa Thompson in Black featuring Chris Hemsworth.

    1. It is. It was made in Canada and is kind of low budget and the first season is sort of cringe worthy with how shallow and oblivious they are but that's the point and they grow over the seasons.

I'll watch anything with Tessa. I love her.

  5. It's hard to pick a favorite book, but I think The Time Traveler's Wife is one of mine. I don't reread books very often because there are so many I haven't read yet, but when I was a teenager I read The Bell Jar over and over. I just related to it so much. My favorite TV show would be Doctor Who. I really don't watch much TV at all. I think my favorite movie would be The Hours. I actually liked the movie better than the book, that rarely happens. My musical tastes are all over the place, but I love Gregory Alan Isakov. I love his lyrics and that mellow folksy sound. I would love to see him in concert.

  7. The only favorites I can easily pick are favorite author and books. Other than that, it's just a bunch of 'likes' or none at all for me. I want to make 2019 a year of re-reads as well. I've been hoping to reread some of my old faves.
I used to listen to Twenty One Pilots a lot but recently I've been listening to really cringe-y music I don't even know myself anymore. hahaha.

  13. PRINCE?! PRINCE was your first concert. Man. What I would have given to see one of his shows. My first concert was Boys II Men, and Destiny's Child opened up for them. After that it was a lot of NYSNC and Backstreet Boys. LoL

  14. I do love Shaun of the Dead. Such a funny movie. And omg, I LOVE the WVMP vampire series. I really need to re-read those as it's obviously been years now. I need to read more by Jeri in general. She's a fantastic person; I used to talk to her more in the past, so that's awesome you two are friends. :)

    1. I *met* you through Jeri! I was a huge fan and bid on those auctions. She's great.

Have you read her Glasgow Lads series yet? I think you would really like it.

  15. I'm a big fan of re-reading. I will re-read Larissa Ione's Demonica series (doing it right now), Lisa Kleypas' Wallflowers series, Jill Shalvis' Heartbreaker Bay series, and quite a few others. I LOVE binge watching Game of Thrones, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Stargate SG-1 and M*A*S*H. As for movies I will totally watch these until I drive someone to lock me up in a closet: Marvel movies, Harry Potter movies (recent), nd Lord of the Rings.

My first concert was Carrie Underwood about 10 years ago and I've seen Lady Antebellum in concert too. Since then nada. I'd love to see (And I'm totally carbon dating myself here) The Backstreet Boys in concert someday. My sister's going to in June or July so lucky her. I'm big on entertainment, I need it to keep my sanity lol.

  16. Who didn't go through a vampire phase? I also went through a witch phase when I was younger and I read The Secret Circle books to death. And don't even get me started on Meg Cabot's books, I had some which were falling apart! And Clueless! That is a definite favourite of mine but I always forget how old it is until some younger folks I work with say they haven't watched it (I am still on a quest to convince them).

    1. Ha! Yes, vampires were the big thing and seem like they're making a bit of a comeback!

OMG - I'm so old! There are so many things I talk about to younger people and get a blank stare lol

  17. 21 pilots was a band I listened to a lot last year... House of Gold was one of my songs of summer and Oh Ms Believer became my autumn track. Their version of Can't Help Falling in Love was one of my wedding tunes. :)

I can't wait for S3 of Stranger Things!

The Lego Movie looks fun but I'm so excited for How To Train Your Dragon 3: The Hidden World... Hiccup and Toothless rock. :)

  22. Ohhh, this is fun and I might have to play along. ALSO HOLD UP. Your first concert experience was PRINCE?!? Oh, man alive. That man was always on my bucket list of musicians to see live, and I'm sad I'll never have the chance. But yup. YOU WIN! LOL, my parents took me to see Tiny Tim but I was way too young to remember; the first one I purchased tickets to (that I can remember, anyway) was No Doubt, LOLOL!!

Aww, I haven't reread any books in ages, NOR have I heard of a single author on your list. What's wrong with me, and what rocks have I been hiding under??

Hope you're having a great weekend! XOXO
