December reading & blogging…

Oh man have I gone off course this month!

December is my 8 year blogoversay so I had several posts planned out but have zero urge to write them. I have a Kindle full of Christmas reads but hardly any reading has taken place.

Kevin was on vacation for 2 weeks so I had planned on a little blogging/reading break but that somehow translated into a month long blog vacation for me. lol I just have NO urge to be online, or even read much.

I do have a few books on Netgalley that have to be reviewed for January so I’m kicking into gear! Here’s the reading list for December. I’m super excited about a few of these! I only have this week to read them though because Kevin is taking Christmas week off. No pressure!!!

Starlight Nights (738 Days #2) by Stacey Kade – Goodreads
Release date is January 9, 2018

“At twenty-three, Calista Beckett is trying to overcome her early fame and fortune. The former savior of the world on Starlight is now a freshman at college--miles away from L.A. and her former existence. She sees it as her start to a new life, a normal life, one where she won't make the same mistakes she made before--a brush with heroin addiction and losing her freedom to her controlling mother, thanks to a court order.”

I LOVE Stacey Kade (you really should read her Ghost and the Goth trilogy if you haven’t yet!). This series is a bit darker for her and I can’t wait to dive into this one!

The Wedding Date by Jasmine GuilloryGoodreads
Release date is January 30, 2018

“A groomsman and his last-minute guest are about to discover if a fake date can go the distance in a fun and flirty debut novel.”

I honestly can’t even remember why I requested this one but it sounds fun so fingers crossed!

Brave (Countours of the Heart #4) by Tammara WebberGoodreads
Release date 12/19/17

Courage means rising up to defend your beliefs...
or daring to question them.”

Another favorite author of mine and this is an amazing New Adult series. If you love contemporary romance but you’re not usually a fan of New Adult – give Tammara a try. Her stories are always very powerful and well written.  I’ve had this on pre-order for a while now.

My New Crush Gave to Me by Shani Petroff – Goodreads
Out in bookstores now!

*Perfect for fans of Hallmark holiday movies*

My New Crush Gave to Me features cute boys, plenty of rom-com mishaps, and a determined heroine readers are certain to fall for.”

This has been on my TBR pile since November, I even started it but never made it past page one. Not a reflection of the book at all! I will read it this month though! I hear it’s adorable and it sounds perfect for me and my mood right now.

What’s on your reading list for December?

  1. I've actually read most of my January 2018 books, I don't know who this new Amber is, but I like her.

I really like Tammara Weber, I didn't know this was a "series" though; I can't wait until this one is released! :)

  3. As you said on Twitter, our blogger body swap has taken place! 😂 But honestly, it's much easier for me to stick to blogging, since there are a lot of things that I can't do for personal reasons...

Happy 8th blogoversary anyway! It's HUGE. I don't think there are many blogs older than 3 or 4 years left, not to mention 8.

  9. You're allowed to get lazy during the holidays. Or, well...pretty much any time of the year LOL. Plus, remember? BLOGGER BODY SWAP! 😂 Now I'm writing all the posts, so you can relax!

Eight years are HUGE! Most blogs seem to be born and die in a couple of years nowadays. But we old ladies are showing them how it's done! 😂 (Just kidding LOL). Happy blogoversary!

    1. Almost everyone I started out with is gone now or not blogging as much as they used to. Some of it is life - having kids, going to college etc but most were burnout.

We old chicks will persevere! lol

  11. Hey, sometimes you need the break. I've learned to just go with it if I can. I've got The Wedding Date, too. Ooh, had no idea Tammara was doing a new installment to the series- love her books, too. Happy reading, Karen!

  14. I need to get with it on my reading. I have been up to my elbows in a wild dog hell bent on taking the Christmas tree down and my sick mom who may have caught something at work.

    1. Ha! I only have a small tabletop tree. Both of my guys are older though so I don't *think* they would bother it.

I hope your mom feels better soon!

  15. I've been gone for ages too. It was freeing. I managed to find my love of reading again rather than giving my beloved hobby a side-eye. I hope you enjoy all of your NG titles. I have to stay away from that place in order to keep my sanity (or what's left of it!)

    1. I'm happy to hear that! I think we need to take those breaks so we can come back refreshed instead of burning out.

I've never had a problem with Netgalley (except in those very early days lol) I only allow myself 2 titles at a time. And I never really go on there unless I know what I want in advance.

  16. The Wedding Date is on my Netgalley list of books I need to read, but I completely forgot that Brave was coming out soon! Now, I've read the first two books in the series, but haven't read Sweet yet. Do you think I need to in order to read/enjoy Brave? It's been so long since I read this series. I sort of lost track of it.

    1. I think the girl, Erin is in Sweet a tiny bit?? But I doubt you'll have to have read the it first. Only the first two had the same couple.

  17. I feel like everyone's blogging becomes a little sporadic (at best lol) this time of year; I know mine certainly has been! These days I've mostly been reaching for comfort reads and haven't felt that interested in writing posts, but I'm planning to do the same as you and kick it into gear in the new year. Based on what you've said it sounds like I should give Tammara Webber a shot!

    1. I agree. This past year actually - only a few bloggers are still blogging everyday now.

I think it's kind of good though. I rather bloggers scaled back then quit like the were. I miss everyone!

  20. Happy eight year bloggy birthday Karen! Such a wonderful achievement. I think it's the time of year when you start to slow down, you're tired and just fall out of love with reading for a few weeks. I love those moments because you always come back refreshed. I hope you, the hubby and the furchildren have a wonderful Christmas Karen <3 <3

  21. Uhm, I want to read all of these books, but especially Starlight Nights and the Wedding Date. thanks so much for the recommendations--will have to add these to the list. I've not been in much of a mood for writing myself lately. Just that time of year, I suppose :)

XOXO and hope you read some good books to round out 2017!

  22. I wish it was just January review books I need to catch up on in December. I actually am implementing a ban in January (and possibly February) whilst I play catch up on Netgalley. I forgot Tammara Webber had a new book out, I hope you enjoy I'll be interested to hear your thoughts on that one. I just hope to read books this December, Good luck with your reading.

  23. Starlight Nights sounds really good and it doesn't look like you have to read the previous book first. I'm about to request the audio of 738 Days after looking it up. I also have The Wedding Date. I hope we both love it, but for some reason I'm a little hesitant to pick it up. I think it's a long distance situation which I'm not really a fan of. Not sure why I requested it either. Happy Blogoversary, Karen! :)
