Stacking the Shelves

Stacking the Shelves is a weekly feature hosted by Tynga’s Reviews to share what we’ve added to our shelves.

Purchased:

If I Was Your Girl by Meredith Russo
Amanda Hardy is the new girl in school in Lambertville, Tennessee. Like any other girl, all she wants is to make friends and fit in. But Amanda is keeping a secret. There’s a reason why she transferred schools for her senior year, and why she’s determined not to get too close to anyone.

And then she meets Grant Everett. Grant is unlike anyone she’s ever met—open, honest, kind—and Amanda can’t help but start to let him into her life. As they spend more time together, she finds herself yearning to share with Grant everything about herself…including her past. But she’s terrified that once she tells Grant the truth, he won't be able to see past it.

Because the secret that Amanda’s been keeping? It’s that she used to be Andrew.

Gifted:

Queen of Hearts (Queen of Hearts Saga #1) by Colleen Oakes

As Princess of Wonderland Palace and the future Queen of Hearts, Dinah’s days are an endless monotony of tea, tarts, and a stream of vicious humiliations at the hands of her father, the King of Hearts. The only highlight of her days is visiting Wardley, her childhood best friend, the future Knave of Hearts — and the love of her life.

When an enchanting stranger arrives at the Palace, Dinah watches as everything she’s ever wanted threatens to crumble. As her coronation date approaches, a series of suspicious and bloody events suggests that something sinister stirs in the whimsical halls of Wonderland. It’s up to Dinah to unravel the mysteries that lurk both inside and under the Palace before she loses her own head to a clever and faceless foe.

Part epic fantasy, part twisted fairy tale, this dazzling saga will have readers shivering as Dinahs furious nature sweeps Wonderland up in the maelstrom of her wrath.
Familiar characters such as Cheshire, the White Rabbit, and the Mad Hatter make their appearance, enchanting readers with this new, dark take on Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland.

(Thank you Brooke!)

I’ll be heading to ALA in Orlando in a few weeks so I’m trying really hard to restrain myself from getting too many books before then. Have you added anything good to your shelves this week?

    1. I've only been to one mid-winter ALA which is much smaller. It is less chaotic but we'll see.

I'm hoping to read IIWYG this month. I've managed 3 books this month so we'll see.

  8. I LOVED Queen of Hearts, but I may be biased because I read book already (and it is AWESOME!). I didn't know If I Were Your Girl was a transgender book. I need to read it now.
I got way too many books this week, this after getting way too many books at BEA a few weeks ago. I hope ALA is awesome for you.

    1. Those cons can overwhelm you with books!

If I Was Your Girl was also written by a transgender author and features a transgender girl on the cover.
