Friday Fast 5…

#1

Dietland by Sarai Walker – Goodreads

22749796

I’m having a bit of genre burn out and this seems totally different so I hope it pulls me out of my reading funk.

#2

Preacher – AMC Sunday’s at 9pm

This show is wacked and I love it. FYI – it’s ultra violent so if you can’t handle that – this might not be your kind of show.

#3

Star Wars: The Force Awakens

I was never a huge Star Wars fan so I wasn’t expecting much but I really enjoyed it. I loved Rey but thought Kylo Ren was a pretty lame villain. He wasn’t developed enough so he just came off as a bratty emo kind whining because his parents sent him to boarding school. Otherwise it was fun!

The Samsung Gear S2
IMG_20160525_192737

I got this for free when I bought my phone several months ago and figured I should probably activate it. It does pretty much everything my phone can do – receive emails/texts/phone calls. Has a calendar, apps and S Health – pictured above. I’ve never been one to keep track of my steps or anything but it’s been fun seeing what I do in an average day. You can also monitor your heart rate, water intake, and workouts. I can’t say I would have bought it but I do like it.

Blueberries

IMG_20160522_132444

I have three blueberry bushes in my backyard and this is the first year I’ve actually gotten to eat any. There’s either no berries or the birds and my dog Indy get to them first. This year we seem to have come to a sharing agreement – we all got some lol

Did you guys read, watch or do anything fun this week?

*You can follow me on Instagram for more pics…usually of the four legged kids and books

  1. Kylo Ren was definitely a whiny emo kid but I'm interested to see where they take him. Love your blog design, btw! And that pic of you with the pups is fantastic.

    1. I wish they said more about his background than just daddy issues...He made me laugh more than thinking of him as threatening. I want to see more of him and Rey though. I liked their chemistry - usually those staring/mind control scenes come off as cheesy but they both did a good job with them.

      & thank you!

  2. I've been trying to mix up my reading lately also, but I've been doing it with nonfiction. I just read a fantastic book called The Year of Living Danishly written by a British journalist whose husband gets a 1 year contract at the Lego company in rural Jutland (Denmark). She decides to spend the year investigating why the Danes score #1 on UN's happiness index, in hopes of discovering ways to improve her own happiness. The book was a really interesting look at both the good and bad aspects of Danish society. Plus it was one of the funniest books I've read recently. If you are at all interested in non-fiction, I highly recommend it as a cure for a reading slump.

    1. I seem to be burned out on every genre lol

That book sounds great though. It's something I think my MIL would enjoy as well. Thanks for the rec!

  5. I haven't seen the new Star Wars, but that's good that you liked it overall and more than you thought too! Yay for getting some of your own blueberries!!!

I didn't watch the first episode of Preacher, but I WAS interested because I think Dominic Cooper is fantastic.

    1. As long as you can handle graphic violence it's really good.

  8. Not liking Star Wars???? For shame! But you liked the new one so I forgive you. LOL ;) I argue with my mom about sci-fi shows. She is a trekkie and I love SW (we like both really) so we argue on which is the better. :D

Hope the book helps and you get more berries. We never get berries here and we fight the squirrels for veggies. LOL They often win. :D

    1. I wouldn't say I don't like it more than I didn't love it lol I never really saw all the other ones so I thought this one would go over my head and I would stuff but it was fine.

The rabbits usually get anything else I try to plant. And we've tried strawberries and greens but Beau takes the whole plant and runs lol

  9. oh I just love blueberries....and so good for you too!!! I liked The Force Awakens, but I agree...Kylo Ren is horrid. I just don't like him at all. They could have done him better. But I really loved all the other characters. I do hate reading ruts, so its always good to mix it up with another genre. Usually if I do that I grab up a Clive Cussler novel.

  10. Kylo Ren was such a toddler in the way of his temper tantrums and I do wish that they fleshed his character out too. But maybe we will find out more in the next movie.

I watched preacher too and yes that is whacked in the good way. I'm reading right now Girl in Pieces and its GOOD. I finished my lady jane and it was okay. I do like your watch :)

    1. I think he'll end up being a cool character but without a lot of background he was whiny lol
That watch is so cool. It does a lot of things that I still need to figure out.
