A little R&R and basking in sunshine…

Howdy there!

I took a few days off from blogging and commenting so I could soak up some rays and relax on the beach in Jacksonville, FL.

Actually it was supposed to rain but we were planning on being content listening to crashing waves from our balcony but the sun decided to come out and play. And we got a sunburn lol

Oh well – we had fun anyway. Lots of walking (I probably got a good 4+ miles in for #fitreaders) & yummy food. I’ve never stayed in Jacksonville before but it was a really fun area and the Hampton Inn we stayed at was right on the beach.

Here are a few views from our room – #2 is the sunrise

We went out to eat at the Maple Street Biscuit Company – fantastic sandwiches & fried green tomatoes (& mac& cheese with cheese it topping – not pictured). I want one these near where I live sooooooo bad.

  2. I'm not a beach person (all that sand and that much exposure of skin! lol) but that looks nice, I would be content with the view and just walking...if it's not too hot.
Glad you went and enjoyed it :) a little vacation it's always good. That food looks delicious *drools*

    1. My husband just likes to sit and listen to the waves. We're not much for actual swimming lol

  3. Very pretty pictures. Not a 'go in the water' beach girl but I do love looking :D You were pretty close to my mom! She's right outside of Gainesville :D

    1. We only dipped our toes while walking along the beach.

I'm closer to your mom where I live than I was at the beach & my hubby works in Gainesville.

    2. Oh how crazy. I wonder if they've ever run into each other. My grandmom and uncle are in Gainesville. My mom is in Alachua :D But I grew up in Gainesville until I moved away to college in NC.

I hope all those miles were able to balance the excess calories of the sandwiches-fried green tomatoes-mac&cheese LOL.

    1. My legs are killing me from all the walking.

The food was delish and ovately worth it! In my defense they were tiny sandwiches hehe
