October reading pile!

I don’t have any requested arc’s or books for October. Yay me! I really want to cut way back on the required review reading.

***

Lies We Tell Ourselves & Glory O’Brien’s History of the Future are both BEA books. Black Ice was a surprise book that I got from the pub.

This is really a pile from September that I didn’t get to. Reader fail. Although I did get through or DNF’d 8 of that original pile. I’ll give these remaining books another shot this month!

These are a few scragglers that I bought or were given to me that I would like to finish.

Overall I’m averaging about 15+ books per month (19 for September & 145 total for the year so far). I read a book a day for several days then take a week off and watch tv or get out in the garden. That seems to be really working for me. No more reading slump!

Ah, yes, the garden :). It sounds like the juxtaposition of your two favourite hobbies does wonder. How's the bunny? :)

Also, good luck with your remodeling. Are you going to put on a new banner?

    1. They both look really interesting and different.

I haven't seen the bunny in a long time but my turtle was out and about yesterday. He's still terrified of me. lol

Speaking of new banner….look up. Obviously temporary for October but I'm working on a permanent one. I couldn't' come up with anything I liked and then I was too busy.

  2. That is not bad at all reading-wise. I LOVED Cara McKenna's Lay it Down. So excited for the next one. I have Virgin on my carry over list too. Good luck with the Oct reading!

    1. I love McKenna! I hear this one is relatively tame for her lol

I'm not sure if you check my replies - but I wanted to tell you I visit your blog but can't comment because you don't have the Disque guest option turned on. I had singed up but I always have a hard time signing in with them unless it's as a guest. Just wanted to let you know that I do read your blog ;-))

  3. Good for you. I am trying to keep December free of arcs so I can read all the books I bought..hahaha! Well at least finish trilogies etc.

    1. The only arc's I have are BEA arc's and while I want to get them read and reviewed, I don't feel the same pressure.

  6. Glory O'Brien intrigues me, and I like your resolution of reading and then taking a break. Hope you enjoy all your books this month, Karen!

    1. It works for me. I read fast so I cram a lot in for the week and just before I burn out I take that week break. Then I'm dying to read again!

  7. Whoa 15 books per week!! Awesome!!! I guess I have been taking days off too from reading. I think a sept. pile with that few leftovers looks pretty good!!

  9. I did so good with my BEA books the first two months, but I'm behind again. I really need to stop doing the arc tours... It's not like I don't have hundreds (and hundreds) of books already sitting on my tbr shelves.

I'm looking forward to A.S. King's book, and Black Ice, since it'll be my first book by Becca Fitzpatrick. The only book I've read in your pile is Sway, which I liked despite the fact that main character is kind of a jerk. ;)

    1. I'm doing good with the BEA this year but September was a killer month. Almost half of what I got came out then.

It's my first BF book too so we'll see….

  10. I'd say you did pretty good! Black Ice is soon to be on my list! Love Becca Fitzpatrick, she's never disappointed me, although this is a bit different then what she usually writes.
    Have a great week!

  13. Sounds like a good reading plan. I'm trying not to accept too many books for review either, but I'm in a children's lit class right now so a lot of reading (MG books...) for that class.

    1. Yeah - it was getting to feel too much like homework or a job that I resented. MG is usually fun so I hope you don't get too overwhelmed.

  14. First off, love the Halloween-y theme!
I thought Sway was interesting and since you've been an against-the-trend reader lately, I'd give it a shot. I'll Give You the Sun was amazing -- but takes some time and attention so you could put it aside for a time you're ready to dig in!
Thanks so much for stopping by! Jen @ YA Romantics

    1. Thank you!

I think I'll try Sway next. I have been putting off Give You the Sun for that very reason. Plus I'm not ready to cry and her books make me cry. lol
