Blogger ramblings…Up next!

I'm mostly caught up on all my review books - just a few more to go!

I MUST stay away from the freebie/.99 diversion reads and putting my plans out there always makes me stay on track so I'm posting what I need to read and review this week.

Have you read any of these books yet?

I'm really looking forward to Lock In by John Scalzi. I haven't read anything by him before but I love him on Twitter. So smart and funny.

The Graveyard Book is a graphic novel adaptation (by P. Craig Russell) of the Neil Gaiman bestseller & it will be my first graphic novel.

Let's Get Lost by Adi Alsaid sounds like a fun road trip book. Perfect for summer!

And I'm curious how I'll fell about Visions by Kelley Armstrong. I liked but didn't love the first book, Omens, but I've heard this one is better.

Do you have any reading goals for the next week?

  1. My reading goal is to finish Gone Girl and get started on The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo! The Graveyard Book graphic novel sounds fantastic, I've always loved the art work on that on the actual book. Happy reading.

    1. I never read the original The Graveyard Book. I hope it doesn't matter too much.

I loved the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo!

  2. I'm reading Omens right now in prep for reviewing Visions. It's keeping me engrossed though halfway through there hasn't been much excitement. I've had a The Graveyard Book on my shelf for several years now, still haven't read it :p

    1. I had two problems with Omens (even though I liked it overall) Nothing much happens and it's SO similar to her Nadia Stafford assassin series in plot (although it's not paranormal) that I feel like I know where it's all going with the characters already.

I do hope Visions is better for me.

I never read the original Graveyard Shift and I've never read a graphic novel before so this should be interesting lol

  5. Looking forward to your reviews and especially that of The Graveyard Book, the title of which I'm totally intrigued by.

  6. I have Sea of Shadows by Armstrong, I think I will be reading that next, I'm trying to read YA at least once a week, keep the genres switched up. As for getting caught up with my TBR, that's a looong way from happening. But at least my NetGalley stats are getting better :)

    Happy weekend, Karen!

  8. I want to read The Graveyard Book. I have a few Neil books I need to get to. I just started Mr. Mercedes by Stephen King.

  9. Yeah, I wasn't a bit fan of Omens either, but I love Kelley Armstrong too much to give up on it this early. AND I have hope, b/c 1. Carmel thought it was LOADS better, and 2. I found out about a prequel that you can free for free online, that allegedly answers some questions, so . . . yeah, hope ;) Happy reading!

    1. I liked it but the bigger problem for me is how similar the character arcs are to her Nadia Stafford series. That's not paranormal so there are big differences but Olivia and the love interests is almost exactly the same setup and I find it really distracting and repetitive.

  11. I haven't read any of these yet but some of them are on my wishlist! Congrats on them.
This week my reading goal is to read at least one ARC and one from my TBR pile. We will see how that goes. Lately it seems I just haven't read much at all.

  12. *sigh* I'm so far behind, I'm basically drowning. After a long absence for finishing and defending my dissertation, I'll have a very hard time catching up. Thank goodness for Google calendar, it helps me stay on top of things... sort of. :)
