Super Sweet Stories - Mini Reviews…

19549125Love Songs for the Road by Farrah Taylor

A rock star. The nanny. A love that could rock their world.

The only thing rock star Marcus Troy loves more than making music is his kids. So finding just the right nanny to take on tour with them is important—as is proving to his ex he deserves joint custody. Falling for his employee wouldn’t just be fodder for the paparazzi: it could ruin everything.

Too bad the perfect nanny turns out to be beautiful, vibrant Ryan Evans.

Ryan’s never left her small Montana town before, so she jumps at the chance to see the country. And as much as accidental fame doesn’t gel with shy Ryan, what does is her relationship with her capricious, smoking-hot, shockingly good dad of a boss. Marcus is nothing like what she expected. But when the whole world’s watching them, will life in the spotlight be too hot to handle? ~ Goodreads

My thoughts: I love single dad stories and mixed with the fact that’s he’s a broody musician on tour with kids and his sexy nanny I was sold. I also loved how down to earth and normal Ryan is. Marcus is attracted to her looks of course but she’s not some hot, Swedish nanny lol She’s normal and takes her job very seriously.

Unfortunately, this book didn’t quite work for me. Or I should say it was fine. Just fine – nothing jumped out at me or had me on pins & needles. I liked everyone but didn’t really care how it all turned out. I’m ok with being kept out of the bedroom scenes but in this case I felt like I missed out on something important in their relationship. Those tender moments, and pillow talk. Do you know what I mean?

I appreciated that we could have a story about a rock star that has a past and is wary but also isn’t drowning in despair but it also felt a little too light. Bah!!! I’m too picky lol but if this is what you’re in the mood for, LSftR is a sweet story with very nice characters.

Geek with the Cat Tattoo by Theresa Weir

20297718Shy music geek Emerson Foshay breaks into a cold sweat and is rendered speechless whenever Lola Brown, the girl of his dreams, steps into his guitar shop. But once a stray cat named Sam follows him home, everything changes and Emerson becomes the coolest guy in town. Setting: Minneapolis, Minnesota Cast of main characters: Emerson Foshay, shy music geek Lola Brown, Melody's (Girl With the Cat Tattoo) sister Sam the cat, Max's (Girl With the Cat Tattoo) brother. ~ Goodreads

My thoughts: Another super cute story that was just very gentle and sweet. I love shy, fumbling guys and Emerson was that in spades. He’s so awkward around his dream girl Lola that she thinks he hates her. Until Sam the cat shows up  *mindmessing* him to use the right words to win her over.

GwtCT has alternating chapters between Emerson, Lola and Sam the cat. It’s weird, but my favorite chapters were from Sam.

This is another case of feeling like I missed out on something when the sex faded to black. There was a lot of build up to that moment and while I don’t care about having the details described, I wanted to be let in on their feelings when they finally connected in that way.

This is a short novella (162 pages) and worth it just for Sam’s POV IMO, but the romance was light and cute too.

  4. I do like the sound of both books. I don't mind the first being light, but I'm with you, I would have thought it would be a little "heavier". I do like the sound of the second one more though. :)

  8. I actually have both of these, so I was happy to see your reviews. I'm with you on the fade-to-black, I don't mind it at all, but it's not good when you feel like your missing something to the relationship.
I'm so curious about GwtCT. Emerson sounds GREAT!

  9. Aww, I'm sorry these didn't jump out to you in any particular way, but they still sound like good reads to pass the time with. Especially the first one - I'm a sucker for those single dad stories too. ;)
