Tune in Tuesday: Road Trip Music

Tune In Tuesday is a weekly feature in which bloggers get to showcase another one of their loves, music! The feature was originally created and hosted by Ginger over at GReads! but can now be found over at Kate’s Tales of Books and Bands.

I love road trips and I love music so you would think it would be the easiest thing ever for me to pick music for the road trip theme this month. But nope. I don’t really listen to anything special on road trips. In fact the longer they are I tend to get sick of music and turn off the radio!

*Epic meme fail*

So instead I searched the internet to see what other people listen to on road trips. Party in the USA by Miley Cyrus was popular. Really??? Hmmm. No. But I did find a few fun travel inspired songs from my high school days….that make me feel really old. lol

The Talking Heads – Road to Nowhere

The Go-go’s – Vacation

The Cars – Let’s go!

AC/DC – Highway to Hell

Please people! Help me. What songs should I listen to on my future road trips?

  2. Being a city person, I am only in a car regularly when we go to the beach in the summer. While driving, I have to listen to songs that I know so I can sing along. Or at least mouth the words and car dance, mortifying my children. So I love 80s and 90s oldies. My kids are always amazed that I can't remember anything but know ALL the lyrics to those songs.

Every summer, my family and I compile a playlist (Songs of the Summer 2012 etc) and it's fun to go back to prior years and listen to the songs.

  3. Now that I have Sirius, I have built in road music! My parents listened to Neil Diamond on road trips when I was growing up, so that's what I like listening to in the car now. Nostalgia.

  6. Now I have Hwy to Hell in my head. :)

My fave thing about road trips is if you are really tired you play any kind of music and then sing BADLY at the top of your lungs. It tends to wake you up and make you giggle with the right peeps in the car. :D

  10. All great picks. I have a thing for "Radar Love" by Golden Earring and "This Flight Tonight" by Nazareth as road tunes...though, you know, it's cause I like to go retro ;)

  11. I'm an 80's music kinda gal for road trips. Gary Numan "Cars" is always on the list (ok, so it's really late 70's but whatever).
