Book Blogger Confessions: Dear Santa

Book Blogger Confessions is a meme that posts the 1st and 3rd Monday of every month, where book bloggers "confess" and vent about topics that are unique to us. Feel free to share, vent and offer solutions.

Just keep it respectful - no bashing authors or other bloggers! If you want to participate just grab our button and include it in your post with a link to either Midnyte Reader or For What It's Worth. We will be providing a linky at the end of our posts so people can "hop" to see all the participants answers.

Question: Dear Santa! What would you put on your blogging/bookish wish list if the sky was the limit? A new blog design? A house filled with new bookshelves? Even MORE books?

Since this is a skies the limit kind of question I’m going for it!

Dear Santa,

1.) I would like a personal book shopper/ reading assistant. This person will be responsible for buying all the latest and greatest books and keeping them organized on my shelves. They will choose my next book to read so I no longer have to be stressed trying to pick my next book from the TBR pile.

They will also be responsible for passing on the books after I read them because sometimes I just can't bring myself to it. (I’d keep them all!)

2.) A blogging assistant. I would love to have someone who would format all my posts for me! I would still write them but I wouldn’t have to deal with Blogger anymore. Heaven……

3.) I’m so lucky that you’ve already given me a entire room filled with Ikea bookshelves. *HUGS* Santa! but I’m being greedy and would like a little enclosed reading nook. Something like this….but with a window overlooking the woods & a small refrigerator for snacking. I could read… then nap… wake up, have a snack and read….then nap….

4.) I would love to have a changing seasonal blog design. I admit to getting a little jealous looking at all the adorable Christmas ones I’m seeing all over the blogoshpere.

5.) A new place for Figment to sleep (nearby) so he’s not always on my desk when I’m trying to blog.

6.) Peace and goodwill throughout the book blogosphere for 2013. There was too much drama this year. Let’s make next year better.

Love,

Karen

What would be your bookish wish from Santa?

  1. Oh my gosh your cat is so adorable! "Notice me, notice me!"

Also, as appealing as a book buyer sounds, I think for me the researching, buying and organising of bookshelves is half the fun of being a reader.

    1. You have a good point. What would actually happen is that she would keep me organized so that I would finally have time to go to the bookstore and buy more books! lol

I do enjoy all of it but sometimes I get overwhelmed and would like someone to set me back on track.

  2. Haha I love the picture of your cat! I also have an orange cat and he acts the same way. Silly cats.

Have you ever seen the website bookshelfporn.com? I saw that picture you have posted there on that site once and fell in love with it. How amazing would that be to own? Though I don't know how you'd get those books down from those tallest shelves. Maybe add one of those cool ladders you always see in movies, like in Beauty and the Beast? You know the ones, the ones that always look like a ton of fun and always wanted to use? No? Or is that just me?

    1. Figment will not be ignored! My other cat doesn't bother me at all.

I have not seen it. I'll check that site out today. The ladder sounds like a fun addition too! Ideally the whole room would be bookshelves so I could roll around all day perusing my shelves.

  3. I would love to have more space for books. But then I guess I wouldn't give so many away. And sharing is pretty fun too.

Like you, I wish I had my own tech consultant on call to help me make my blog more beautiful and answer all my questions, like "why is my blog button eating up everyone's sidebar especially when I followed all the directions?"

And I agree with your last one too. Less judging, more support among bloggers would be nice.

    1. My husband set up shelves in my spare bedroom for the books I've finished or need to pass on and it's overflowing. I don't just want to pass them on....I want them to go to the "right" home lol

  4. Haha great wishes! Especially the blogging assistent. Aww Figment you're busted with all the desk pics lol, love them, the first one is perfect for a meme.

  5. I loooove your format for this answer. I have an idea for a reading nook too and my husband said I could do it. I'll keep you updated on my progress. I love the idea of a blogging assistant too...and maybe a proofreader. Oh and the NO DRAMA one! Yes!

    1. Kevin is my proofreader when he works nights :-)) & thankfully he knows some html stuff but he could care less about design and that kind of thing. I need a person dedicated to this task!

  6. Oh my I love your list. Why didn't I think of a blogging assistant? I definitely need an editor. Though if I had a book shopping assistant their job would more likely be to slap my hand when I try to reach for a new book. They would have to nag me to read the ones I already have. I love that reading nook. Oh the wonderful dreams I would have in that room. Makes me smile just to think about it. Peace in the blogosphere next year is an awesome wish. We can always hope. You know I think I should have added a few other things to my list. Runs off to edit it. Thanks this is fun.

    1. YEs! i want someone to make sure I read what I have already. I may want more books but my assistant would be giving me the judge-y glare that would keep me on the straight and narrow.

If we can't get peace in the blogosphere then my wish is to help me ignore it.

  7. Wonderful post! I would also love someone to format all my posts. It would be great to only have to write the actual reviews.

Love the reading nook. I showed my husband a picture of a under the bed bookshelf recently, and he built me one. It looks awesome!

    1. I had a twin trundle bed and we did use it to store books.

That's so great that your husband made that for you! He's an enabler lol

  8. I would definitely love to have more space for books, but I kind of like not having enough space (if that makes sense). And someone to help buy all of our books would be SO SO SO helpful. Whenever I go to the bookstore I get overwhelmed with all of the books, and I end up staying much longer than my intended 30 minutes. It's so stressful because I walk back and forth looking for the best book, and then the employees at the bookstore give me worried looks and I end up spending more than I had intended.. but yeah! Great wish list! :D

    1. I'm actually pretty good with the space issue. I mean there is never enough space but it does help keep us in check.

It's the overwhelming feeling of looking at all the books and still not knowing what to read!

I've been avoiding the bookstore until I start making some headway on my shelf.

  9. I love all your wishes, but especially the reading nook! And your cat is gorgeous! :-)

  10. That reading nook is amazing! But I'd just settle for some proper bookshelves and an endless book budget!

  11. How about a new house and then one big library...I mean BIG library. Shelves all around and yes some book money is needed then too ;)

  12. I had to click over from google reader when I saw those cat pics (normally I am bad and just read posts in the reader and never comment :/ ) He is absolute;y adorable...and I so agree with #2. I hate trying to format posts!

  13. This is an awesome idea and I'm sorry I'm late to the game this week! I'm totally in if there is going to be an x-mas edition ;-) I'm also a new subscriber since I just found your blog :D
