Review: Magic Gifts novella by Ilona Andrews

The super generous husband & wife writing team Ilona Andrews surprised their fans Christmas Day with a free Kate Daniels novella called appropriately enough "Magic Gifts"

"What is this? This is that novella we kept promising you. It’s about 35,000 words long so about a third of a book and it’s yours free.

This novella takes place at the same time as Andrea’s book, right after MAGIC SLAYS, and the two stories intersect." (Source: Ilona Andrews website)

A dinner date after a hard day at work sounds heavenly. Of course, when that date is between the Beast Lord and Kate Daniels, things don’t go as planned. Before you know it, undead are running amok, heads are being chopped off, lawyers are deployed and used with extereme prejudice, and drunk vikings are calling people out.
Read at your own risk.

Review: I LOVED it! I think I even loved it more than the full length books from the series! Because of the shortened time frame, Magic Gifts contains just the bare essentials to the story, leaving us with a really tightly woven, action packed tale and more CURRAN. RAWR!

Curran could grace every single page and it wouldn't be enough for me. Yeah he's the gorgeous Beast Lord of Atlanta but I just find him to be an incredibly fascinating character.

Besides the action and trademark Ilona Andrews world building, we get a nice glimpse at Kate & Curran's relationship. I always feel a little short changed on that front in the series. There is always so much drama going on around them but Magic Gifts gives us a peek into how these two incredibly strong willed people deal with all the issues thrown at them on a daily basis.

This novella is available only for a limited time. You only have until January 6th to download it!

Magic Gifts will not be sold on Amazon or B&N

So go....hurry......head on over to Ilona Andrews' website for instructions for downloading to your Kindle, Nook, or Kobo or PC

  1. I got it, yay :D Now I just wait to read book 4 and 5. I got 5 and my friend was supposed to give me book 4, hm

  2. I'm running over to download it now, even though I've yet to read any books by the duo. I know I'll probably want it later! Thanks for the headsup!

  3. *vigorous nods* Yes, yes, yes! It's the standard great mythology and action from the Andrewses, but with more Curran, which we /always/ need more of. He's not just a looker, he has substance! Sometimes he's kingly and other times he's such a DUDE, complaining about wearing dress shoes and slacks for formal evenats.

  4. I loved this book too! And yeah, one can never have too much Curran anywhere. ;)
