I both learned to love and loathe that song! lol
Take On Me is gorgeous. The lyrics get me in the feels but the tune is so jaunty and fun. I had no idea Ah-ha where one hit wonders in the US!
Relax is almost legendary. It's a gay anthem here... Apparently it was back in the 80's too. Ahhh! Happy memories. I can also well remember the fuss that was made over this Frankie Goes To Hollywood song. I dare say it wouldn't be given a second thought now but it was something we were all talking about at the time.

Felicity Grace Terryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17852843882007267665noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7047843651411739466.post-60520157679781029382019-11-01T12:33:57.424-04:002019-11-01T12:33:57.424-04:00I have a few of those on some compilations - serio...I have a few of those on some compilations - seriously, my house is full of '70s/'80s music, also because, like you, I grew up with it...though there are songs that I love even more now than I did then! I don't think it's just your average nostalgia thing - they had the rhythm, the groove, the everything (though more often than not, lyrics left something to be desired 😂), and the best songs of nowadays are basically rip-offs of them.

I don't think I understood Relax back then, but it dawned on me gradually what it was really about - it's not like there was this huge moment of discovery and shock LOL. And you were roller-skating to it?! 😂

The music got to a halt for me in the late '80s, when someone came up with that blasted thing called "house". Then in the '90s, dance music was quite bad (I was a radio host in 1995, so I unfortunately remember those frantic beats all too well), and regular pop was hit or miss...until new artists started to base their music on funk again.Roberta R.https://www.blogger.com/profile/18228840429799100354noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7047843651411739466.post-15237228631309952932019-10-31T15:16:03.771-04:002019-10-31T15:16:03.771-04:00I've only heard of a few of these songs... or ...I've only heard of a few of these songs... or about half, but the majority are definitely before my time but they're played even now.
