I think my problem is that no matter how evil the villain starts out, when it comes to the big showdown he/she usually spouts the traditional evil speach and then is defeated in about a millisecond - so all the fear I may have had was for nothing.
Especially in YA - they may "talk" evil but the actual evil acts are few and far between.

I was thinking of choosing President Snow from Hunger Games - definitely evil - but the final showdown was a big letdown for me.Karenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13958940283330319507noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7047843651411739466.post-17535975869146950752011-03-04T10:03:56.060-05:002011-03-04T10:03:56.060-05:00I couldn't name a particular villain, but I li...I couldn't name a particular villain, but I like the ones that make you think: "Hold-on one cotton-picking second" because they're talking sense. I like to read a villain who, perhaps, is misguided or misjudged, but irrevocably so. In my mind, there's no such thing as inherent evil, and if there is, it's the same in everyone. Actions and experiences affect it, either taming or frenzying it. When a Villain has an acceptable agenda (not just revenge) and you can empathise with them a little, you can appreciate their villainy so much more.

This is more an antagonist than a Villain, I know, but maybe that's not a bad thing.

Being villainous.... I would say ones without mercy, completely corrupted and remarkably manipulative. The sort that care for no other living thing, regardless of alignment.Alexhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15530490398283237371noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7047843651411739466.post-64587272408533658242011-03-04T10:02:26.949-05:002011-03-04T10:02:26.949-05:00This comment has been removed by the author.Alexhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15530490398283237371noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7047843651411739466.post-35288442215503894972011-03-04T09:43:20.900-05:002011-03-04T09:43:20.900-05:00Hmm villains all the villains I like don't rea...Hmm villains all the villains I like don't really seem to be villains once you get to know them. But I guess by villains we mean antagonists then Bananach from the Wicked Lovely series is a good one though I haven't read the last book yet so who knows how she turns out.I'm reading the Vampire Academy series at the moment and Viktor Dashkov is a good one so far. He's a pretty evil guy considering what he's done. Um Itachi from Naruto though he could be considered a sort of anti-hero maybe.Sandyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15842315793902005771noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7047843651411739466.post-26489069631343829432011-03-04T07:47:42.272-05:002011-03-04T07:47:42.272-05:00Hello and Happy Friday!
