The FAWESOME contest!

What the heck is "fawesome" you ask?? Well - when one of Jeri's books was still in it's early stages she had gotten her draft back with notes and A+ awesome! written in the margin........she misinterpreted it to mean fawesome as in f***ing awesome (ala fugly) and it was her favorite new word......and then sadly she found out the truth.......but still hoped to make it a real word - so I'm just doing my part! (it's acutally in the Urban dictionary - but we'll just give Jeri the credit for making the word popular enough to add)

To the contest!!
The winner will get ALL six of Jeri's adult books that are currently in print (excluding Shade)! Click on my post HERE for details for all the books.

Requiem for the DevilEyes Of Crow (Aspect of Crow Trilogy)Voice Of Crow (Aspect of Crow)The Reawakened (Aspect of Crow, Book 3)Wicked GameBad to the Bone

*The Aspect of Crow series books are all signed by Jeri and I have signed book plates for all the other books and I have a little extra swag to add to the mix....*

I loved reading all the ghost stories from the Shade contest so I'm hoping to have a little fun with this one too!

If you know anything about Jeri, you know she LOVES nusic and it plays a huge role in both her writing and in the case of Shade and the WVMP series the plotlines. So in honor of that I want you to tell me if you have a playlist in your mind for your favorite books.

For me:
FantasiesWicked Game: I know Jeri already has a playlist for this book but the CD Fantasies by Metric fits the mood of this book perfectly. The vibe is pure Ciara - upbeat yet cynical and edgy if you listen to the lyrics.

The Sookie Stackhouse Series: I always think of Sookie and Eric when I hear Muse, especially "Supermassive Black Hole"

FoiledTwilight: Blue October Foiled. Since Stephanie listened to them a lot during the writing of the series it makes sense. To me it seems like they wrote the CD and novels together - they fit so perfectly.

Silversun Pickups: The lyrics of The Royal We from their CD Swoon in particular reminds me of that overall longing and mood that a lot of these paranormal love stories evoke.

*So what songs do you hear when your reading? Is there a song that when you hear it you think of certain characters?

Here are the rules!
•You must be 18 years or older to enter. International entries OK ( check this list) if your country is on it - you can enter and I'll ship it!
•All entries must be received by Sunday 5/9//2010 11:59 pm EST
•Tell me: *So what songs remind you of your favorite book? Is there a song that when you hear it you think of certain characters?
•Winner will be posted on this blog Monday 5/10/2010 - it is your responsibility to check back to see if you won.
•The winner has 7 days to email me with their address or I will pick another winner.

* If you already have one of these books and win you can pass on that particular book and I will pick another winner for just the books you passed on*

* I also have additional copies of both Wicked Game & Bad to the Bone (read by me so they would be a pass it on - NOT NEW) if you want a chance at those I will pick another winner - just add "pass it on" to your comment & you will be entered in both contests! Make sense?? I hope so! *

*Extra entries:
+ 2 if you're a follower of my blog
+ 1 if you follow me on Twitter (@teamsheltie)
+1 if you post a link on your blog or tweet about contest (include links for me to check)

Good luck everyone!!

Please enter me in this great contest! Even though I have never heard music in my head when I am reading, I do see the book take place in my head like a movie.

  2. Sadly, I have to admit I usually just hear whatever song I listened to last... I don't really hear songs with characters. : ( However, I'd like to think that it's okay since I can listen to any kind of music no matter what I'm doing/reading. lol.

I don't have any of these, but they all sound absolutely wonderful!

  5. The song "Resistance" by MUSE (off their latest album) ALWAYS makes me think of Clary and Jace from The Mortal Instruments and their relationship ... they fall in love, then find out they're brother and sister, but just CAN'T make their feelings disappear, no matter how much they try to push each other away ... the song is about loving someone despite others saying it's wrong ... in fact, I'm going to google the lyrics, that's how strongly I feel about this, hehe ... if you've read TMI, you'll see how perfectly this song fits ...

is our secret safe tonight / and are we out of sight / or will our world come tumbling down?
will they find our hiding place / is this our last embrace / or will the walls start caving in?

(it could be wrong, could be wrong) / but it should've been right
(It could be wrong, could be wrong) / to let our hearts ignite
(It could be wrong, could be wrong) / are we digging a hole?
(It could be wrong, could be wrong) / this is outta control
(It could be wrong, could be wrong) / it could never last
(It could be wrong, could be wrong) / must erase it fast
(It could be wrong, could be wrong) / but it could've been right
(It could be wrong, could be...)

love is our resitance / they'll keep us apart and they won't stop breaking us down
hold me / our lips must always be sealed
if we live our life in fear / I'll wait a thousand years / just to see you smile again
kill the prayers for love and peace / you'll wake the thought police / we can't hide the truth inside
    ...
the night has reached its end / we can't pretend / we must run / we must run / it's time to run

take us away from here / protect us from further harm / resistance!

It always gives me the shivers, and never fails to make Clary and Jace pop into my head ... you should listen to it ... powerful stuff :)

P.P.S. Don't you just love Urban Dictionary??! I have it on my favourites tab, lol, it's always great for wasting many hours and a good laugh :D

  6. Karen I really wish that I could say heard music when I read. I do not unless have something playing on my radio or CD player. However when I read the characters written by Lora Leigh or Patricia Briggs the song Born To Be Wild comes to mind.

  12. I've only had a few songs that remind me of a book.

Bring Me To Life by Evanescence always reminds me of Christine Feehan's Dark series. The lyrics just seem to describe perfectly what happens when the main characters meet.

For Twilight, Calling You by Blue October & Breath by Breaking Benjamin always comes to mind.

In A Big Country & Let The Music Play always reminds me of reading Harlequin romances as a teenager. I can't remember the title or author but I can remember the storylines.

    I follow.

  14. I tend to imagine the scenes more movie like and having sound students as friends my head usually improvises sound tracks based on some of the things they've done.

But the book i'm reading right now - Looking for Unicorns, reminds me a lot of Numb by Linkin Park...

  21. Oh, this is fun. I relate books and music all the time. A Dustland Fairytale by The Killers reminds me of City of Glass by Cassandra Clare.

Walking In My Shoes by Finger Eleven always reminded me of Murtagh from the Inheritance Cycle.

So Cold by Breaking Benjamin makes me think of Twilight.

The Horror of Our Love by Ludo reminds me of Irial and Niall from the Wicked Lovely series by Melissa Marr.

Those are just a few off the top of my head. :-)

  32. Oh yeah I don't really think about songs when I read books, but when I write and I hear a song on the radio or something that has to do with my story I usually write it down.

For one of my stories I only have 3 songs at the moment.

Brick by Boring Brick by Paramore
    Killing Loneliness by HIM
Life Starts Now by Three Days Grace

Anyway, the song I Gotta Feeling by Black Eyed Peas always reminds me Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist. Not really sure why since there are already lots of references to musicians in the book. :)
    Again, thanks for this!

  40. I mostly only think of soundtracks when working on my own books, but I recently read Shade (by the amazing author in question) and there was a mention of one of Snow Patrol's albums, all I could hear were their songs from the Eyes Open album and the song Run from Final Straw. Great book, but I've never read any of Jeri's other works (I've been dying to pick up the WVMP series).
