I'm Facebook friends with all my old author friends and close blogging friends, most of whom don't blog anymore, but we still talk books on my personal account. Two of my old high school friends love reading and I'm FB friends with one of our public library's librarians, so we have some great book discussions. 📚La La in the Libraryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18253014225202985934noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7047843651411739466.post-59435704524020538822023-05-27T10:30:36.864-04:002023-05-27T10:30:36.864-04:00I'm barely on twitter anymore. That said, given I have the attention span of a fly nowadays, I find it easier to update on bookish stuff than sitting down and going through blogs or updating my own! (Both are things I want to work on...)

TikTok is something I've finally caved to. *I still feel shame. 😂
I haven't a clue what I'm doing. Making connections - let alone friendships - on there seems impossible (possibly because I haven't a clue how it all works!) but I can lose hours shit scrolling and giggling at complete nonsense and I think I actually regret not caving into it sooner! I'm not even sure I want to *discuss* certain topics in a group like that anymore. I do like talking and finding out about books, music etc but I'm leery of any groups now. Or being that into anything. I get burned out on it and it's no longer fun if that makes sense.

I guess I just have my friends that I've always had lol It's hard to find new people now and I'm not sure I have the energy for it anymore.

I sound like an old fart haha! I keep telling myself that I will only be on it on Tuesdays or Wednesdays when I post a blog link, but gosh... it's still a bit addicting. My plan was to be on Bookstagram more.

I set up a Mastodon account for music, because that's where all the music people I follow with my personal Twitter were going, but seeing that Twitter didn't go belly up, none of them are posting over there. I also set up a Discord account, but every invite code I've been given to follow an account hasn't worked. 🙄

So more Bookstagram, less Twitter, and I already use Goodreads a lot more for interacting than most book bloggers. There are a lot of big readers out there who don't have blogs, or other book related SM who are on Goodreads. 🙂La La in the Libraryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/18253014225202985934noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7047843651411739466.post-17245770964283907762023-05-10T15:18:39.741-04:002023-05-10T15:18:39.741-04:00I REALLY miss old book twitter. I miss the old days too. I stopped engaging on most SM around 2016. Mr. Toupee ruined all the fun.

The only SM I really participate in now are Instagram and Goodreads, and since I'm not really very much right now, rarely GR. I don't mind that my SM usage is down, though, because I'm spending my time crocheting/knitting and in school. For me, Twitter is merely a way to extend my other activity; it lures people to that and is not an end in itself. "
Exactly...Maybe most people are like us - can't be bothered to open new accounts and try new things unless they seem like a good fit (or better, unless they take off) - so none of those alternatives get successful. Or maybe they're just poorer by default, not equipped to compete.

I did notice since I opened my second Twitter account (well before it changed hands) that you hardly get new followers anymore. With the first one, I often got new followers, while now it seems like no one finds me anymore or no one bothers with following me.
