Review: Fast Connection (cyberlove #2) by Megan Erickson & Santino Hassell

30415154After a decade of serving in the Army, everyone still expects me to be Dominic 'Nicky' Costigan—the skirt-chasing player. They don't know I've been spending my days trying to figure out my post-military life.

Including how to pick up guys.

When I meet Luke on a hookup app, he makes it clear it's for one-night only. That's fine with me, because I'm down to see what this silver fox can do. But after I arrive at his doorstep, it doesn't take long to realize we have serious chemistry, and we end up meeting again.

He's got more walls around his heart than a military base, but I think he's as addicted to me as I am to him. He can't resist me for long. I mean, who can? Except Luke's rules exist for a reason, and when I test his limits, things get complicated. Maybe too complicated.

*FAST CONNECTION is a standalone, full-length romance novel with no cliffhanger* ~

Review:

Can we all agree that the summer of 2016 sucks? Really ALL of 2016. (If it hasn’t for you then at least someone is having fun!) But yeah…the constant drumbeat of awful things is wearing me down. Combined with 100 degree heat and humidity every day I’m pretty much a walking zombie.

Reading hasn’t proven to be the escape it usually is as I have zero concentration even when the books are good.

Then came Fast Connection. It was everything I needed and more.

This book was laugh out loud funny, sexy as hell and achingly sweet.

Filled with two incredibly well developed MC’s and an equally complex supporting cast, Fast Connection hit all my reader buttons.

Dom is open, affectionate, funny yet sensitive and unsure – Luke is older, cautious and guarded to a fault yet kind, protective and steady. Oh these two! It was messy and complicated and raw. But so, so real!

Yes, they had a *fast connection* but they also had a hard fought and won HEA. And Luke gives good grovel.

This series does not flinch from real world struggles and doesn’t give the characters an easy out or magic cure all solutions. But it’s also FUN and swoon worthy and everything.

Too much?? lol All I know is that this was the book I needed to read and it’s totally changed my frame of mind and I hope I can coast on the happy reader high for a long time. If not? I’ll read it again!

  1. Everything about the book sounds good - except for the name. Dom? Really? Lol.

Ditto about all the sucky things happening in the world.

    1. lol His name is Dominic. Not my favorite name but it works once you get to know him - some people in the book call him Nicky too

  4. I'm totally with you! Reading is a great escape. Someone asked on twitter if Quentin Tarantino was directing 2016. :)

As for the book, this sounds like a good escape. Hm... I'm in need of a good romance and I haven't read a M/M one in a while now. So many good ones coming out and I need to start to catch up on them all.

    1. I also love Erickson's Focus (NA series) and Tied to Trouble (adult)

Tarantino...lol That would explain a few things.

  5. I loved Strong Signal, which I finally made the time to read recently and I already bought this one. I just need to read it and you have me even MORE pumped to check it out. Love that it's real!

    1. I liked this one even more. Probably because there was so much humor and I needed that.

  7. I don't typically read a lot of M / M romances outside of YA, but this sounds sexy as hell. Do you need to have the first in the series?

It's been a horrible year worldwide. So much death and destruction. It's hard to hold onto hope for humanity, it just seems as though so many people around the world have already given up :(

    1. Dominic is in the first one - and is a bit of a jerk (& that couple makes an appearance in FC) but no - you can read this as a stand alone.

I also recommend Tied to Trouble another fun m/m by Erickson.

    2. Thanks for the recommendation Karen. I like being able to read contemporaries in between series reads and prefer standalones. Going to check them out <3

  10. Yeah, this year has been very challenging. It ain't over yet and I'm crossing my fingers that it'll turn around somewhat for us all.

    I'm in a slump... *cries*

  11. Completely agree - I'm afraid to check the news and the weather (horrible, sad news from France today and in the 90s here again...)
I think we all could use some feel good books to keep us going...

  12. haha I am actually enjoying the summer although last week I was in a bit of a slump but this week has really improved for me!!! Normally I hate the heat ( I live in Utah) but this summer, its weird I am really liking it LOL I know I am so strange, but I am moving to Texas soon so maybe my sub conscious is just preparing me for worst weather hehe Hope your summer improves though.
